French president Emmanuel Macron has subtly changed the colour of the French flag, it has been revealed. The shade of blue that makes up the Tricolour is now navy, a darker shade of blue than was used previously. The change was confirmed by the Elysée and was changed last year in a bid to reconnect with the French flag of 1793 - a symbol of the French revolution, according to Europe 1. After: The shade of blue that makes up the Tricolour is now navy, a darker shade of blue than was used previously. It is to match the French flag of 1793 when the first republic was formed Before: The lighter shade of blue used previously used to match the shade used for the European Union flag The decision was the subject of much debate within Macron's government, the news outlet reports as some of officials considered the new colour ugly while Macron felt the darker shade was more elegant. The new flag is on display at Government buildings across the capital including Elysée Palace and the National Assembly. While the decision...
We were in a cafe a few days ago, my friend and I, when our laughter made a nearby group of teenagers turn around. ‘Ugh,’ I heard one of them whisper. ‘They’re talking about sex. At their age!’ Her expression of pained disgust left us, both sixtysomethings, in no doubt about her feelings on the subject. Our discussion, a post-mortem of my friend’s ‘night before’, had ventured into territory assumed to belong exclusively in a world inhabited by the young and beautiful. A world off limits to anyone of my advanced age. However, like it or not, a recent survey found that the optimal age for sex among single women is 66. Although, in my experience, I’d say the best sex is to be found within a long and trusting relationship whatever your age, a healthy sex drive in your 60s is really not unusual. And whatever your circumstances, I think sex at this age is absolutely great. I speak as someone who met her beloved husband — Bob, the love of my life — when I was 19. And,...
A TIKTOK user has fooled followers into thinking an X-ray of a brutal finger injury was actually a close up of his private parts. In a short clip, the TikToker zooms in on a radiograph showing a metal hook coming from a body part that's not immediately clear. 3TikTok users were left baffled after a man posted this rude X-rayCredit: Tiktok/@fishhook1 But within seconds, another short video appears, revealing the injured body part was actually his finger. The video has collected more than 10 million views on TikTok, with many TikTokers agreeing they thought it was something lewd. “I didn’t think it was a finger at first,” one person commented. "My mind needs to be cleansed ASAP," another said, while someone else wrote: "Thank God it’s a finger." "My first thought was, 'why is it so small'," one joked. Some thought those who saw a penis had "dirty minds". Former ESPN sports broadcaster Allison Williams told Tucker Carlson she was forced out of the company for refusing to comply with the vaccine mandate- which the company said 'would cause undue hardship.'  Williams made an appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight Wednesday night to discuss why she 'made the most difficult decision' of her life and chose to leave ESPN.   The former ESPN reporter told Carlson: 'I felt like I have no other choice honestly.'   'There were a lot of sleepless nights. There were a lot of tears shed in making this decision but ultimately I had to do what was best for my health individually.'   Williams explained that she refused the vaccine as she and her husband plan to grow their family. She believed that she was not at 'high-risk' for COVID and had previously contracted a mild case of the virus.  'So there was really no compelling health reason for me to get this injection it really just came down to keeping my job,' Williams said.  Former ESPN reporter Allison Williams (left) told Tucker Carlson (right) she was forced...

Americans who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can enjoy the upcoming holiday season 'the way we've traditionally done it all along,' Dr. Anthony Fauci announced Sunday morning. 'I believe strongly that — particularly in the vaccinated people, if you're vaccinated and your family members are vaccinated, those who are eligible, that is obviously very young children and not yet eligible, that you can enjoy the holidays,' the immunologist said during an interview on This Week ABC. 'You can enjoy Halloween, trick-or-treating, and certainly Thanksgiving with your family and Christmas with your family.' Fauci argued that celebrating together is one of the main reasons health experts emphasized the importance of getting vaccinated.  His holiday recommendations come just two weeks after he said it was 'too soon' to say whether Americans can gather for Christmas. Dr. Anthony Fauci announced Sunday that Americans who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can celebrate the holidays together 'the way we've traditionally done it all along' At that time, President Joe Biden's chief medical expert previously voiced cautious optimism about the country's COVID-19 numbers going down — however warned that the country needed...
The gubernatorial recall election is fast approaching, yet most of California’s 22 million registered voters have yet to fill out and return the ballot they received in the mail last month. As of Wednesday, 70% of the ballots were still out in the wild. If you have mailed in or dropped off your ballot but are worried that it has somehow gotten off-track, there’s an easy way to check its status. The state offers a free tool that can tell you instantly whether your ballot has been received. The tool also can help you track a ballot you mail or drop off in the dwindling amount of time left before the Sept. 14 election. Ballots that arrive up to seven days after the polls close will still be counted as long as they are postmarked no later than Sept. 14. To sign up for ballot tracking, go to the Where’s My Ballot page at the California secretary of state’s website, then enter your name, date of birth and ZIP Code. If you’ve already sent in your ballot, the site will...
SPENDING so much time at home has inspired many of us to try our hand at some DIY, decorating and up-cycling. But very few of us do it as successfully as this savvy couple. 4Marie uploaded the picture with the caption: 'Don't throw away your old bed. As a finishing touch, the couple painted over the wood in a bright white colour. TELEVISION gave up on its viewers, and the creative process, this week. You possibly sensed it coming after Apocalypse Wow, The Void and over 50 unforgiving episodes of Love Island. But, when the moment arrived, it was as brutal and specific as a Channel 4 continuity announcer suddenly telling us: “Changing Rooms is back.” 5Television gave up on its viewers, and the creative process, this week... Changing Rooms is back It is as well, landing with a thud, in Swansea, on Wednesday night, after a 17- year hiatus. Why it’s returned, I cannot tell you right now. Nor, I suspect, can anyone at Channel 4, without showing their age or using the dreaded word: “Iconic.”  Eight years the original ran, on BBC1, and in all that time only two noteworthy things ever happened on Changing Rooms: Someone was unhappy with their makeover and someone else had their teapots smashed. An incident that was endlessly referenced in the new version, where all the changes were suitably cosmetic, including the arrival of new sponsors Dulux, who made it feel more like a...

But be careful, there are also those that make up the ranges of world-class manufacturers. You may know that the Land Cruiser saga It is one of the most famous in the off-road world. Also that their total sales volume, with all the generations that we have known, has exceeded 10 million units around the world. But what you may not know is that this 70 Series model is still sold and that its commercial success is very high. So much so that the firm has decided to apply a subtle restyling so that it continues on high. The Toyota Land Cruiser 70 has been around since 1984 … but it’s...
Dear Amy: After we divorced (decades ago), at some point my ex-husband told me that he was the father of another boy (he and I have two sons). Amy Dickinson  He said the woman had used him as a “sperm donor” without his knowledge and that she wasn’t interested in him playing any role in the child’s life, nor did she want any money from him. I’ve kept his secret for a couple of decades. My sons are now 39 and 36. I’m wondering if I should tell them that they have a half-sibling, since their father clearly hasn’t? I think I’d want to know if I were in their shoes. I’m no longer on good terms with my ex, and I fear his anger if I were to ask him whether he plans to tell them. Drew Angerer/Getty Images The Washington Post has published an excerpt from a new book that reveals many behind-the-scenes details from former President Donald Trump and the White House on election day. I Alone Can Fix This is the highly anticipated book from Washinton Post writers Philip Rucker and Carol Leunig who also wrote the best-selling book Very Stable Genius, which also detailed the inner workings and drama at the Trump White House. The authors of the book make clear that “Most of the people interviewed agreed to speak candidly only on the condition of anonymity.” The details presented in the book were “based on hundreds of hours of interviews with more than 140 people, including the most senior Trump administration officials, friends and outside advisers to the 45th president.” President Joe Biden, of course, won the election in November of 2020, which appeared to take Trump and his inner circle by some level of surprise. The media didn’t project Biden as the winner of the election until the Saturday morning that followed the Tuesday vote, which led to a very...

In an interview that aired Sunday on “Axios on HBO,” Samaritan’s Purse president Rev. Franklin Graham discussed his close relationship with former President Donald Trump. Axios’ Mike Allen asked Graham about Trump’s consistent criticisms of the media’s coverage of him and his presidency. According to the Samaritan’s Purse head, Trump’s constant calling out of the press created unnecessary “animosity.” As a result, his rhetoric aimed at the media has ended up hurting him, which he said the former president is aware of. “I think it’s hurt him,” Graham told Allen. “I think it built a wall. I think it created animosity when it shouldn’t have. Just because somebody disagrees with you doesn’t mean they’re your enemy.” Allen clarified, “You think it was a mistake for President Trump to demonize the press?” “No question about it,” the Samaritan’s Purse president replied. “Have you told him that?” Allen followed up. “No,” Graham responded. “He knows it.” Allen went on to ask the pastor if he can tell Trump “hard truths,” which Graham said he does. He added he is upfront with telling Trump...

TELL HER YOU LOVE HER AT WORK Many women worry that their partners don’t think about them enough. So if you’re at work and you’re thinking about her, be sure to let her know. Maybe send her something nice, such as a steamy text or, even better, some flowers. Then when you get home, don’t just kiss her. Instead, let her know you missed her. Inhale the scent of her hair. Hold her, press her body to yours and linger there a while. If she responds with enthusiasm, embrace her passionately. Just remember, it’s ok to enjoy a moment of mutual arousal together even if you’re not planning to have sex. In sex therapy, we call that ‘simmering’. Sometimes simmering can be more important than sex. Many couples tell me that feeling this mutual desire can be more important to them than sex itself. THINK PASSION, NOT TECHNIQUE Yes, it’s nice to know what your partner likes. But make sure you’re not doing it just to please her. Make sure there’s some passion in it for you, too. After all,...
An aide claiming to have been bullied by Meghan Markle today welcomed the Queen's investigation into her and Harry's alleged mistreatment of staff and declared: 'We will finally be able to tell the truth'. The unnamed palace worker's claim will pile even more pressure on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to give evidence to the probe after they were invited to take part by Buckingham Palace.  The Sussexes are accused leaving behind a 'lot of broken people' with 'young women broken by their behaviour' and a source describing one member of their staff as 'completely destroyed' by the ordeal. The Queen has now launched an unprecedented inquiry into allegations that Meghan and Harry bullied their staff - leaving royal employees 'shaken' by 'unhappy memories' being brought up about a 'toxic period' before the couple emigrated. Devastating claims that the Duchess of Sussex inflicted 'emotional cruelty' on underlings and 'drove them out' were 'very' concerning, Buckingham Palace said.   The whistleblower told The Times: 'We will finally be able to tell the truth. It's not going to be easy, but this is...
48 percent of people with a job plan to improve their skills to seek new job opportunities For 30 percent of people it is normal to discuss their career or office activities with others, if they are satisfied with this aspect Three out of four young professionals believe that switching from one company to another is the best way to advance in their industry Today’s work environment seems to be quite complex. Almost every week there is news of a company that laid off thousands of employees. To this must be added that both small companies and large corporations are declaring bankruptcy and reducing operations from left to right. And those who still keep their jobs, have to deal with the pressure and stress of burnout, or the complicated schemes of the home office. Right in this context, it would seem like a very bad idea to quit a job. In the end, few would believe that leaving economic stability under these market conditions is a good idea. The truth is that, many times, leaving an unsatisfactory job is the...
You can ask Alexa to find the nearest place to get a Covid-19 test.Todd Haselton | CNBC Amazon recently added a new feature to its Alexa voice assistant that lets you find the nearest place to get a Covid-19 test. It works on phones and through the Amazon Echo smart speaker. I think it's best on a phone (or on an Echo with a screen) since it shows you a list of the nearby locations and how far each place is. Here's what you do. Open the Alexa app on your phone. Touch the "Tap to talk to Alexa' button at the top. Say: "Where can I get tested for Covid-19?' Alexa will return a list of nearby places using data pulled from GISCorps and other sources, like Yelp. In my case, it showed a total of eight places within 10 miles from me. If you tap a location, you'll see a phone number you can call to confirm that there are appointments available, if one is needed. If you're using an Echo that doesn't show each...
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis defended his legislation to combat Big Tech censorship, saying that if a story similar to the explosive New York Post article detailing Hunter Biden's overseas business ventures broke about him, the press would have no problem with its distribution. “You're trying to tell me if there was hacked information that could damage me, you guys wouldn't print it? Give me a break. You can whiz on my leg, but don’t tell me it’s raining,” DeSantis said. “You guys would print it every single day if you could. And Big Tech would allow it to proliferate every single day.” DeSantis also addressed social media companies' commitment to removing violent content in the wake of the U.S. Capitol riot, saying that the companies only flag violent rhetoric from one side. “It’s not being done in a principled basis,” DeSantis said. “There’s threats on me. And it only gets taken down if law enforcement goes and tells them to do it. Otherwise, it just stays up. They’re not moderating any of that.” DeSantis also insisted that people need protection...
Google is introducing a new feature to help you find out more information about the websites that show up when you use its search engine. Provided you live in the US, as of today, you’ll start to see a three dots icon next to each search result. Tapping on one of those, whether you’re on mobile or desktop, will bring up a description of the website that’s on the other end of the link.  In most instances, that information will come from Wikipedia unless Google points you to one of its services, in which case you’ll get a blurb on how it sourced its data. In cases where neither is available, you get some basic information about the website, such as when it was first indexed. In every instance, there will be a note if your connection to the website is secured through HTTPS.  The feature allows you to do a couple of things, according to Google. First, it saves you the trouble of conducting a second search to find out about the website you’re about to visit....
Steve Proehl | Corbis Unreleased | Getty Images Hyundai confirmed in a short statement last week it was in early talks with Apple about cars. Almost immediately, the Korean auto giant started to backtrack, releasing a subsequent statement that removed all mention of Apple. Hyundai's retreat is almost certainly the latest fallout from Apple's insistence on secrecy and discretion from its suppliers or potential partners. Companies who deal with Apple are held to strict nondisclosure agreements, even if they are public companies and Apple is a major customer. While nondisclosure agreements are common in high tech, people who work with Apple say it takes confidential information more seriously than competitors. Apple tells partners they can't mention Apple in public or to the media, according to people familiar with the matter who didn't want to be identified to avoid risking their relationship with Apple. One person who has worked with Apple described its secrecy requirements as a lot of hoops to jump through. In at least one case, Apple has threatened to penalize suppliers $50 million for each individual leak, according...
Face masks do make it harder to identify people because it covers the nose and mouth, key features the human brain uses to put names to faces.  A study from Israel revealed wearing a mask reduces a person's ability to recognise people by 15 per cent.  However, people are able to still identify people they know best due to familiarity of their eyes and other parts of the face not covered by masks.  Masks have become ubiquitous around the world in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and as people try to avoid catching and spreading Covid-19.  But they pose their own issues, researchers say, inhibiting social interactions and making it harder for people to talk to each other.    A study from Israel revealed wearing a mask reduces a person's ability to recognise people by 15 per cent. US Surgeon General Dr Jerome Adams has pledged he will get the first coronavirus vaccine approved for emergency use when told it is safe. During an interview on Good Morning America on Monday, Adams was asked about a recent Gallup poll, which found that more than 40 percent of people are unwilling to be immunized against the virus that has killed more than 256,000 Americans.  He said he has been traveling around the country reassuring the public that researchers did not safety corners when developing the jab. '[T]he most reassuring thing I can say to you, America, is that when [the US Food and Drug Administration] tells me that I can get the vaccine, I will get it because I know that's the best way to protect myself and to protect my family and my community,' he said. President Trump on Saturday will tell supporters in Pennsylvania that they have the chance to “save the American dream” by reelecting him to office on Tuesday -- while warning of “corrupt forces” who are seeking to replace him with Democratic nominee Joe Biden. “This is the state where the story of American Independence began – it is the state where the American Constitution was signed – and three days from now this is the state that will save the American Dream,” he will say, according to prepared remarks. The COVID-19 pandemic won’t spoil Halloween for New York children this year. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he will not ban trick-or-treating this Halloween, though he didn’t necessarily encourage parents to take their kids to their neighbors' homes to celebrate the holiday. Cuomo’s proclamation came amid speculation he could sign a new Executive Order that would force local governments to bar door-to-door trick-or-treating due to the pandemic, similar to what other officials have done across the country. “I would not ban trick-or-treaters going door to door,” Cuomo said during an interview on News 12. “I don't think that's appropriate. You have neighbors - if you want to go knock on your neighbor's door, God bless you and I'm not going to tell you not to. “If you want to go for a walk with your child through the neighborhood, I'm not gonna tell you you can't take your child to the neighborhood, I'm not going to do that - I'll give you my advice and guidance and then you will make a decision what you do that night.” Once the hottest spot in the country for COVID-19...

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge ruled Saturday that former national security adviser John Bolton can move forward in publishing his tell-all book despite efforts by the Trump administration to block the release because of concerns that classified information could be exposed. The decision from U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth is a victory for Bolton in a court case that involved core First Amendment and national security concerns. But the judge also made clear his concerns that Bolton had “gambled with the national security of the United States” by opting out of a prepublication review process meant to prevent government officials from spilling classified secrets in memoirs they publish. The ruling clears the path for a broader election-year readership and distribution of a memoir, due out Tuesday, that paints an unflattering portrait of President Donald Trump’s foreign policy decision-making during the turbulent year-and-a-half that Bolton spent in the White House. The Justice Department's attempt to block the release of John Bolton's tell-all book has been denied.  Judge Royce Lamberth denied the request to block the sale of the former national security adviser's memoir, 'The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir' in a ruling Saturday.   Lamberth, a Reagan appointee, heard arguments Friday over Zoom from Bolton's lawyer Charles Cooper and Deputy Assistant Attorney General David Morrell, representing the government.  This came after the Trump administration sued Bolton on Tuesday in order to postpone the release of his book because of concerns that classified information could be exposed The book was leaked to the media the next day.  It contains a number of explosive claims about President Trump, including that he asked China for help with his re-election bid - a move similar to how Trump interacted with Ukraine, which led to him being impeached.   The Justice Department's attempt to block the release of John Bolton's (left) tell-all book has been denied.
