Getty Bruce Arians has been dealing with an inflamed Achilles. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were hoping to be preparing for the NFC Championship but instead the team is beginning a long offseason. Tampa Bay announced the signing of 10 players to future/reserve contracts including speedy running back Kenjon Barner and tight end Codey McElroy. Here are the additional players the Bucs signed to new deals: kicker Jose Borregales, guard John Molchon, linebacker Elijah Ponder, defensive lineman Benning Potoa’e, defensive lineman Willington Previlon, cornerback Rashard Robinson, defensive lineman Kobe Smith and safety Troy Warner. Barner has blazing speed as evidenced by running 4.44 seconds in the 40-yard dash in 2013. The veteran back is one of the players Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians recently referenced as being ready to go when the team was dealing with significant injuries at the position. Barner has played in nine games for the Buccaneers over the last two seasons. McElroy made two appearances for the Bucs this season, but found himself in a particularly loaded position group which included Rob Gronkowski,...
MANCHESTER UNITED forward Anthony Martial has joined Sevilla on loan until the end of the season. NIKLAS SULE has told Bayern Munich he wishes to leave at the end of the season on a free transfer, German reports claim. The highly-touted defender has less than five months left on his Bayern contract and failure to extend it fuelled speculation over his future. 2Niklas Sule has reportedly told Bayern Munich he wishes to leave at the end of the seasonCredit: Reuters And now, according to Bild, Sule has informed club bosses he will refuse a new deal to instead leave on a free in the summer. It would come as a massive blow to the Bundesliga champions, who last season lost David Alaba, 29, to Real Madrid for nothing. Sule, who joined Bayern from Hoffenheim in 2017, has made 25 appearances this season, missing just four games following a bout with Covid and back problems. The centre-back has won four Bundesliga titles and made 37 appearances for Germany's national team. As a result, the experienced yet ever-improving 26-year-old has drawn attention from across Europe. Waking up Sunday morning in Chicago to five inches of snow and Dick Butkus trolling Aaron Rodgers was a beautiful thing. “(F)unny the orange juice tastes a little bit sweeter this morning,” Butkus tweeted, referring to the Green Bay Packers’ 13-10 playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. And in case that tweet was too cryptic, Butkus followed it up with “maybe it’s me but it almost seemed like @AaronRodgers12 was distracted last night like someone was in his head.” The Chicago Bears great, naturally, was referring to himself. Two days earlier Butkus, celebrated being verified on Twitter — a long-running saga in which Butkus poked fun at the social media company for not recognizing him as being blue checkmark-worthy. When Butkus finally was accepted, he sent out another punctuation-challenged tweet: “now that i have the blue mark i can kick people off the platfrom (cq) right you hear me @AaronRodgers” Seeing the Hall of Fame linebacker trolling the future Hall of Fame quarterback may have been the highlight of the season for Bears fans,...
Tom Brady is just two games away from another Super Bowl. This will be the 11th film in his career. A shocking statistic. But these 2022 playoffs could also mark the end of his exceptional career. According to ESPN, Tampa Bay Quarterback will actually seriously consider making a hangover at the end of this season, even if it is still a hypothesis. Last year, Brady announced that he would be continuing his career for at least one season. “I think I can play as long as I want. Really. I can play until I am 50 or 55 if I want to.“, He admitted even last October. At almost 45 years old, he still shows no signs of decline and is a favorite to be named MVP of the regular season. The Ravens announced the departure of Don “Wink” Martindale as their defensive coordinator Friday night, but they had already contacted defensive line coach Anthony Weaver and secondary coach Chris Hewitt about taking over the job, according to a team source with direct knowledge of the situation. The source also said that coach John Harbaugh will look outside the organization for possible candidates, but the process will become more intense heading into next week. When the Ravens lost six straight games at the end of the season to fall out of playoff contention, some changes were expected. But more fans wanted offensive coordinator Greg Roman to be fired instead of Martindale. According to the team source, Harbaugh and Martindale met several times before parting ways, and issues such as the length of Martindale’s contract and personality conflicts between the coaches might have been factors in the move. Martindale’s contract expired at the end of the 2022 season and he might have wanted more security. Now he’ll be able to test the free-agent market with eight head coaching positions...
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers heads into another offseason of uncertainty after one more frustrating finish to a brilliant year. Rodgers drove the Packers to a touchdown on the game’s opening possession, then couldn’t get them back in the end zone the rest of Saturday night. Their season ended with a stunning 13-10 NFC divisional playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Or is it the end of his remarkable tenure in Green Bay? The shocking finish capped a turbulent year in which Rodgers skipped the Packers’ mandatory minicamp; missed a game due to a positive COVID-19 test after making misleading comments about his vaccination status; but still earned All-Pro honors and put himself in position...
Almost five months after leaving Baltimore, Ben Mason is a Raven again. The fullback-tight end, a fifth-round pick of the Ravens last year who bounced around in his rookie season, joined the team’s 90-man offseason roster Friday after signing a reserve/future deal. Mason, the No. 184 overall pick, was the final selection of the Ravens’ 2021 draft class. But the Michigan product struggled to make an impact in the preseason, and he was waived at the end of training camp. Rather than sign with the Ravens’ practice squad, Mason headed to New England’s. He never appeared in a game for the Patriots, who released him in November. Mason joined the Chicago Bears’ practice squad in December but was not signed to a reserve/future deal at the end of the season. The 6-foot-3, 256-pound Mason is a potential replacement for Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard, a pending free agent. Under offensive coordinator Greg Roman, the Ravens have typically used heavier personnel packages that showcase versatile blockers.
With the first half of his Netflix hit’s fourth and final season, showrunner Chris Mundy has initiated Ozark’s endgame, setting the stage for a last-ditch attempt by Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) to escape their money-laundering entanglements with the Navarro cartel while keeping their (and their kids’) heads on their shoulders. Achieving that goal won’t be easy, given that the streaming series’ most recent seven episodes mired them in further lethal trouble. Their efforts to solidify their political power via a partnership with Shaw Medical Solutions didn’t go as planned. Their relationship with son Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) took a nosedive, compelling him to work for their rivals. And their necks are still on the line courtesy of Javi Navarro (Alfonso Herrera)—who now controls the family business, and wants his hands figuratively (if not literally) around the Byrdes’ throats—as well as Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner), whose wrath knows no bounds following the murder of both her boyfriend Ben (Tom Pelphrey) on the order of his sister Wendy, and another loved one who was executed right before this bifurcated...

Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jarret Johnson was named as a finalist for the NFL’s 11th Annual Salute to Service Award presented by USAA, according to an official press release from January 20. Johnson played for the Ravens for nine season after being selected by Baltimore in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He was one of many former University of Alabama football players to be drafted by the Ravens during the tenure of former general manager Ozzie Newsome, who is himself a Hall of Fame tight end.  Johnson was selected as a finalist because he “demonstrated exceptional effort to honor and support members of the military community,” according to the NFL’s press release, through a wide range of charitable work with military service members. Johnson has worked with a variety of organizations to support mental health and employment opportunities for veterans, both during his NFL career and since his 2015 retirement. Getty T.J. Hockenson hauls in a pass against the Bears in 2021. The Detroit Lions saw multiple players depart this season due to injury, and one of the most significant ended up being tight end T.J. Hockenson. Getty Former Raiders DB Charles Woodson. There is probably no fan base in the NFL that holds onto bad calls more than the Las Vegas Raiders‘. To this day, fans of the team still talk about the “Immaculate Reception” and the “Tuck Rule.” Well, there’s been another officiating error that will haunt the fans for years to come. During the Raiders’ Wild Card matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, quarterback Joe Burrow rolled out to the sideline towards the end of the first half. Before he went out of bounds, he tossed up a pass to Tyler Boyd in the end zone, which he caught for a touchdown. However, an official blew the whistle before the ball reached Boyd. By rule, the down should’ve been replayed and the touchdown wiped off the scoreboard. Instead, Jerome Boger’s crew gave the Bengals the touchdown and they ended up winning by a score of 26-19. Needless to say, Raiders fans aren’t happy with the outcome, including Hall of Famer Charles Woodson. The former star defensive back for the team doesn’t believe what...

As the Cowboys drove down the field in the waning moments of Sunday’s Wild-Card matchup against the 49ers, anyone who has ever watched the Cowboys for a considerable period of time knew that two things were about to happen: The Cowboys were going to lose, and it was going to blow your mind. Down 23-17 with 14 seconds left on the clock and no timeouts, the Cowboys lined up for what would likely have been the first of two Hail Mary attempts at the end zone to tie the game. Instead, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott took off with the ball and picked up about 16 yards. However, Prescott seemed to forget about that pesky ol’ rule that requires an official to touch the ball before snapping it for the next play. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — After gaining so much ground during Mac Jones’ rookie season, the New England Patriots faltered at the finish. Throttled 47-17 by the Buffalo Bills in a wild-card playoff game on Saturday night, the loss showed how much progress the Patriots still need to make to close the gap on their AFC East rivals. “Losing is terrible,” Jones said. “None of us wanted to do that tonight. But there’s nothing we can do about it now. There’s a lot to look forward to and positive and learn from.” Jones and the Patriots made strides turning around their season following a 2-4 start, putting together a seven-game win streak to make the playoffs for the first time in two seasons since Tom Brady left New England for Tampa Bay. But their progress stalled after a 14-10 win at Buffalo in Week 13 put them atop the division standings. The Patriots struggled coming out of their bye week, losing three of four, before suffering their worst postseason defeat since a 46-10 loss to the 1985 Chicago Bears....
CINCINNATI (AP) — The playoff frustration for the Raiders just won’t end. A season of tumult for Las Vegas could have been salved with the first playoff win in 19 years, but the Raiders couldn’t catch up with the Cincinnati Bengals, who ended an even longer playoff drought of their own. That most recent postseason win for the Raiders came in a conference championship game before they lost to Tampa Bay in the 2003 Super Bowl. Prior to Saturday, the organization had managed just one playoff appearance, a one-and-done wild-card game after the 2016 season. Saturday’s loss was tough to swallow. Las Vegas cut the Bengals’ lead to 26-19 late with a Daniel Carlson field goal and then got the ball back with under two minutes left in the game. Quarterback Derek Carr drove them to the Bengals 9 before he was intercepted by Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt on fourth down. “It sucks that it came down to that,” Carr said. Las Vegas also was on the wrong end of a questionable officiating call. Late in the first...

At the end of the 2022 season, Andrew Benindendi will be a free agent, eligible for the jury. According to Matt Schwartz, the outfielder will make about $ 9.3 million official. But which path will Benintendi take? Will he be a member of the Royals at the end of the season? Will he go somewhere else? It all depends on its 2022 season. If he has another season like 2020, he is unlikely to attract much interest throughout the MLB. On the other hand, if he has a season like 2018, the Royals will do anything to retain him.
