The leader of a New Age cult whose mummified body was found surrounded by fairly lights in a Colorado home in April died of alcohol abuse, anorexia and and long-term dosing of colloidal silver, her autopsy has confirmed. Amy Carlson, a 45-year-old former McDonald's employee from Texas, was known by followers of Love Has Won as 'Mother' or 'Mother God'. She had left her three children and husband behind when she moved to Colorado, and in 2018 founded the sect. In her final photos, posted to Facebook - where the cult's 20 full time members and hundreds of other admirers shared memes and musings - Carlson is seen looking emaciated and with a strange blue tint to her skin. When her body was found, it seemed initially as if her eyes had been removed, but forensic analysis later found they had simply decomposed.  She told Dr Phil in September 2020 that she had cancer. Her autopsy, published on Thursday, showed she died of anorexia, alcohol abuse and the effects of colloidal silver - a 'dietary supplement' of tiny particles of silver...

A missing Florida college student died of 'multiple blunt force injuries due to a fall,' a coroner ruled last week, months after her body was found behind a fire station in South Carolina. Sheridan Wahl, 21, was last seen on September 19 in Myrtle Beach, where she went to visit her father.  Her body was found two days later in Pamplico, South Carolina, at the base of a fire department training tower. Her body was then taken to the Medical University of South Carolina for an autopsy to determine her cause of the death, and on November 15, Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken revealed that she died of 'multiple blunt force injuries due to a fall.' Von Lutchken, though, ruled that her cause of death was 'undetermined.' 'I can't say definitively someone didn't push or throw her off,' he told WMBF. 'Likewise, I can't say she didn't fall or jump on her own. 'Therefore, the only options for manner of death is homicide, suicide or accident and we don't know. That's why I ruled it as undetermined.'  Sheridan Wahl, 21,...
A jury found a white Iowa man guilty of murder for killing a 44-year old Black man named Michael Williams, and burning his body in a ditch. Steven Vogel, 31, of Grinnell, was found guilty of two charges on Tuesday: first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse. The jury cast the verdict at the Keokuk County Courthouse, the Des Moines Register reported. Vogel faces sentencing at the courthouse on Dec. 13. Vogel was arrested on Sept. 22, just days after police found Williams' body burning in a ditch near Mariposa Park in Jasper County. Williams' cause of death was determined to be strangulation by the state medical examiner, and he is believed to have been killed on Sept. 12. Police also arrested three other Grinnell residents with allegedly aiding Vogel in throwing Williams' body into a ditch and burning it: Julia Cox, 55, Roy Lee Garner, 57, and Cody Johnson, 29. SIGOURNEY, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa man was convicted Tuesday of killing a man last year and leaving his body burning in a ditch. A jury found Steven Vogel, 32, of Grinnell, guilty of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of Michael Williams, 44, whose body was found burning in a rural Jasper County ditch on Sept. 16, 2020. Vogel is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 13. Police believe Williams’ body was in Vogel’s basement in Grinnell for several days, The Des Moines Register reported. Testimony during the trial indicated Vogel told witnesses he killed Williams out of jealousy over a “love triangle” involving Vogel’s girlfriend. Williams was Black and all four suspects are white. Authorities and the Iowa-Nebraska chapter of the NAACP have said there is no evidence to suggest Williams was killed because of his race. Three other Grinnell residents — Julia Cox, Roy Garner and Cody Johnson — were charged with destroying evidence of the killing. Garner and Cox were also accused of abusing Williams’ corpse and helping Vogel transport Williams’...
