Getty New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Even before the Las Vegas Raiders finished their playoff run, rumors were swirling that Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh would be the team’s next head coach. Since the season ended, there’s been a lot of smoke surrounding him being open to taking the job if offered. However, the Raiders haven’t interviewed him yet and haven’t appeared to show interest in the coach. That could be because the team is just taking its time but it could also mean that they have their eyes set on a different target. The Raiders recently interviewed New England Patriots director of player personnel Dave Ziegler for their general manager opening. If he does end up getting the job, there’s a strong chance they’re targeting Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Raiders are indeed interested in McDaniels: Two weeks after the coaching carousel began to spin, none of the eight teams looking for head coaches have requested permission to interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. That could soon be...

The New York Times agrees President Biden is attributing to his own downfall by paying no mind to the current state of the economy and American interest. In an editorial board op-ed, the Times explained that even though the president has been praised for his economic achievements, such as passing the $1.9 trillion aid bill, the American people are still staring everyday concerns like inflation in the face. Meanwhile, benefits from Biden’s longer-term economic initiatives such as antitrust enforcement and childcare subsidies would "not be felt for some time." "Mr. Biden, however, has contributed to his own political woes. Through much of the fall, the president and other administration officials seemed to be downplaying the dangers of inflation," the editors wrote. "Mr. Biden’s insistence on this implausible narrative may be contributing to a sense that he is not taking inflation seriously." NY TIMES COLUMNIST PITCHES REVISIONS TO ‘RESCUE’ BIDEN ADMINISTRATION: ‘AMERICAN NEEDS, NOT LIBERAL WISHES’ The Times argued it’s hard for the American people to feel grateful for the president’s economic triumphs while the outlook is nothing but high prices....
Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., argued on Sunday that President Biden is responsible for Russia's deployment of troops to Ukraine's border.  During an exclusive interview on "Sunday Morning Futures" the Republican senator also argued that Biden has been "appeasing" Russian President Vladimir Putin for one year.  He made the comments shortly after the State Department ordered families of U.S. Embassy personnel in Ukraine to begin evacuating the country as soon as Monday, U.S. officials told Fox News.  Next week, the State Department is also expected to encourage Americans to begin leaving Ukraine by commercial flights, "while those are still available," one official said. TOP US, RUSSIA DIPLOMATS HOLD ‘FRANK’ AND ‘HONEST’ TALKS, REACH NO BREAKTHROUGHS Moscow has massed tens of thousands of troops at the border with Ukraine, leading to fears of an invasion. "He [Biden] gave him [Putin] a very one-sided nuclear arms control treaty the very first month of his presidency," Cotton told host Maria Bartiromo explaining why he believes the U.S. president "bears a lot of the blame" for the current situation. Democratic strategist Donna Brazile said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that President Joe Biden had “a lot to brag about” after his first year in office. Partial transcript as follows: RADDATZ: Donna, I want to — I want to start with you: unity, unity, unity. That is what Joe Biden talked about in his inaugural address just over a year ago. That is not what he has gotten. And this week it’s clear he’s changing course. DONNA BRAZILE, ABC NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: There’s no question that what the president called for last year is something that we should all aspire to. We want to be a united country, especially now, given the threats that we see abroad. He also said that he wanted to reach out. He has tried and, of course, we got — the result is the bipartisan infrastructure bill. But this is an opportunity for all Americans to really rally behind the president as we try to get this virus under control, keep this economy growing, keep our schools re-opened. Look, I think the president has a lot...
Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) said on this week’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures With Maria Bartiromo” that President Joe Biden “bears a lot of the blame” for Russia’s deployment of troops to Ukraine’s border. Cotton said, “So why is it that now he’s put more than a hundred thousand troops on the border, and there I think President Biden bears a lot of the blame. For a year, he has been appeasing Vladimir Putin. He gave him a very one-sided nuclear arms control treaty the very first month of his presidency. He removed his sanctions from the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany, which his own party opposed. He really did nothing about the Colonial Pipeline hack, and then in August, Vladimir Putin let the rest of the world see Joe Biden’s debacle in Afghanistan. So that’s why Vladimir Putin thinks the timing is right here.” He added, “Why this matters to the American people, it’s very dangerous when you allow our adversaries like Russia, China and Iran to try to upend the status quo, and all we do is have strongly worded to speeches or some mealymouthed sanctions. So if Vladimir Putin can get away with this in Ukraine, what does that say to Xi Jinping about what he...
GREEN BAY, Wisc. — Advancing to the NFC Championship Game, and doing so with a walk-off win in the snow at Lambeau Field, shouldn’t really surprise anyone anymore about these 49ers. What’s in Klay Thompson’s ‘bag’? If you let the five-time NBA All-Star tell it, he has the handles and the touch around the rim to go along with his range, his ability to get hot from three within a minute, and his defense. Seeing Thompson slash through the paint, and soar above Cleveland Cavalier defenders for an emphatic dunk in his season debut on Jan. 9 and his newfound penchant to drive to the basket is a surprise to everyone but him. “I always had that in my bag,” Thompson said last week. “I’ve been able to put the ball on the floor since high school. My strength is obviously catching, shooting, and cutting, but now I am getting older. I try to use my strength, try to get to the free-throw line  a little more. It gets me in rhythm.” Thompson, 32, insists that he has always had the ability to drive to the basket, but it’s not his forte like coming off of pin downs and screens to catch and shoot. IF WAYNE ROONEY was working in any other walk of life, you’d look at a business like Everton and tell him not to touch the manager’s job with a bargepole. This is a club which used to have a clear identity, used to over-achieve and which was widely admired inside football — not least by me. 3Wayne Rooney should snub Everton - but there's no logic in footballCredit: PA 3Troy Deeney believes Wayne Rooney should avoid his former club, Everton, and stick at DerbyCredit: The Sun In the six years since Farhad Moshiri bought the Toffees, though, it has felt as if they have been throwing enough mud at the wall and hoping some of it sticks. Their recruitment of players and managers has been expensive and scattergun. One year it was Sam Allardyce, the next it was Marco Silva — so where is the plan in that? Rafa Benitez was always a strange appointment given his Liverpool connections, the fact that his style tends to be defensive and he inherited an imbalanced squad recruited by several managers. But football...

Julie Gunlock, director of the Independent Women's Network, sat down with Ben Domenech for "The Ben Domenech Podcast" and illustrated how liberal politics rules public school boards in Virginia and argued that school districts response to new Gov. Glenn Youngkin's executive order lifting COVID mask mandates was a political statement. JULIE GUNLOCK, DIRECTOR OF THE INDEPENDENT WOMEN'S NETWORK: When Youngkin's executive orders came out – which, again, they don't ban masks, they leave it up to the parents to decide if they want their children masked – the school district that in Alexandria, Virginia, where I live, the superintendent, Greg Hutchings, immediately issued a statement, which apparently is not unusual for this region. I've now heard that Arlington superintendent did the same, and so did Fairfax County, basically saying we're continuing to mask. We are going to require kids to mask. The interesting thing with the Alexandria school district is it went a little bit further. They are now going to be giving out these N95 masks, which personally I find suffocating, and they're going to be delivering other masks,...

Getty Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy Just four days after his son said Mike McCarthy would “absolutely” be back as head coach, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones turned the apple cart upside down and insisted that no one was safe. A seething Jones went on the offensive taking on the coaching staff, players and scouts during his first public comments since his brief media appearance moments after the Cowboys’ loss to the 49ers. Jones was given every opportunity to shoot down rumors about a potential coaching change but declined. McCarthy’s end-of-the-year press conference seemed to quiet some of this speculation, but Jones’ radio appearance threw gas on what had become a dimly-lit fire. Jones emphasized that he is still weeks away from making his final evaluation. Later, the Cowboys owner admitted, “I’ve got a lot to think about regarding these coaches.” “Well, I haven’t completed my overall evaluation, and I don’t have any idea when I will complete my overall evaluation, but there are a lot of moving parts here,” Jones told Dallas’ 105.3 the Fan during...

New York (CNN Business)Stocks are off to a tough start this year. The tech-heavy Nasdaq is already in a correction, a more than 10% drop. And if one the most influential hedge fund managers is to be believed, this could be only the beginning of a very painful time for investors. Jeremy Grantham, co-founder and chief investment strategist of Grantham, Mayo, & van Otterloo (GMO) said in a report called "Let the Wild Rumpus Begin" that stocks are now in the midst of a "superbubble," that it won't end well. Grantham, who has been running the firm's investments since it was started in 1977, was similarly bearish at market tops in 2000, and during the Great Financial Crisis of 2008."Good luck! We'll all need it," said Grantham, whose firm manages about $65 billion in assets. He noted that US stocks have experienced two such "superbubbles" before: 1929, a market fall that led to the Great Depression, and again in 2000, when the dot-com bubble burst. He also said the US housing market was a "superbubble" in 2006 and that the...
Shaquille O’Neal says if NBA champion Kyrie Irving was on his team and refused to get vaccinated against Covid, he’d get physical with the point guard. Irving recently made it clear his unvaccinated status will not change despite Kevin Durant’s knee injury that is expected to sideline the Nets forward for more than a month. “Is ole boy going to sacrifice?” Shaq said about Irving potentially changing his vaccine stance after Durant’s injury on the most recent episode of The Bid Podcast with Shaq. “I don’t see how the team could put up with that,” he continued. “If he was on my team I’d have to put hands on him.” Because Irving is unvaccinated, New York City bars him from entering the Nets’ arena on home games, but the organization recently chose to use their star point guard as a part-time player. O’Neal explained that Irving only being available for away games is hurting the team. “I know for a fact that these windows of winning championships you don’t have them a lot,” he said. “All that stuff just...
