YouTube Ricard Foye Ricard Foye formed a tight bond with many of his “Survivor” castmates, but he recently revealed that he is not too fond of a particular season 41 castaway. On a December 2021 episode of the “Drop Your Buffs” podcast, Ricard shared some behind-the-scenes details about his “Survivor” castmate, Heather Aldret. On “Survivor,” Heather received what many fans refer to as an “invisible edit.” Her appearances on the screen were rare, and many viewers felt her underwhelming edit was “disrespectful.” To viewers, Heather appeared to be riding Erika Casupanan’s coattails through the game, but Ricard set the record straight on the “Drop Your Buffs” podcast. There are a lot of old newcomers making a splash this season in college basketball. ACC top scorer Alondes Williams for Wake Forest and Pac-12 leader Terrell Brown Jr. at Washington are both senior transfers who joined their new teams this season. The same goes for the leading scorers for four of the 10 teams in the Big 12. With the extra season of eligibility available to everyone because of the pandemic and players being able to go into the transfer portal and play right away elsewhere, there were a lot of changes on rosters across the country. About 1,700 players went into the portal last offseason. “I think every coach kind of deals with that nowadays with people stepping in, playing right away and being new to campus,” Baylor coach Scott Drew said. The leading scorers in the SEC and Big East are also seniors, but in their second season on the court since changing schools. JD Notae transferred to Arkansas from Jacksonville, and had to sit out the 2019-20 season before the altered transfer rules....
Getty DeAngelo Hall on radio row during the Super Bowl in 2020. The Detroit Lions have one of the better young staffs in football, and though he might not be a household name now, Aubrey Pleasant could soon be part of the next wave in the NFL of coaches who see a major boost in their stock given what they can do on the field. Pleasant is a defensive backs coach for the Lions, but like most who make it onto a staff in the NFL, he started from the ground up as a quality control coach early in his career. While doing that, Pleasant overlapped with DeAngelo Hall, a former Pro Bowl defensive back and one of the better cornerbacks in the league once upon a time. Getty Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow throws the ball from the pocket against the Kansas City Chiefs defense. We are officially three days away from the Kansas City Chiefs’ fourth straight AFC championship game. Their opponents — the Cincinnati Bengals — are less familiar with this territory. Although the franchise had postseason runs in years past, it’s their first under head coach Zac Taylor and quarterback Joe Burrow. This conference title matchup will also be held at Arrowhead Stadium, not Paul Brown Stadium. Despite all this, some NFL analysts seem to be talking about the Chiefs like they’re the underdog since KC lost to Cincy in Week 17. ALL the latest Chiefs news straight to your inbox! Scott Halleran /Allsport It’s not uncommon to believe the San Francisco 49ers are playing in the NFC Championship game this weekend in spite of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and not because of him. But when ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes pointed that out on First Take this week, it struck a nerve with former Niners quarterback Jeff Garcia. “Jimmy Garoppolo isn’t the reason they’re winning,” Kimes said this week. “They’re winning with him, but not because of him.” Against the Packers, Garoppolo converted 11 passes for 131 yards and threw one interception. It would be outrageous to act like he led San Francisco to the championship game. That’s not to say Garoppolo can’t perform well, but he’s not the reason they’re still playing. “Since joining the Niners, he has two touchdowns and five interceptions in the postseason,” Kimes added. “These are not advanced statistics. The dude is just simply not helping them win.” After learning about the fair criticism from Kimes, Garcia went on an unhinged rant, blasting her for providing NFL analysis without ever throwing a touchdown...
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- From the moment the 49ers drafted rookie quarterback Trey Lance 3rd overall in the NFL Draft, it seemed as if Jimmy Garoppolo's days as the 49ers quarterback were numbered. Kyle Shanahan maintained early on that Jimmy Garoppolo was in starting quarterback for the 2021 season and now Garoppolo has the team on the doorstep of a second Super Bowl appearance in the last three seasons.WATCH LIVE FRIDAY: Preview of San Francisco 49ers-Los Angeles Rams NFC title game"Sometimes when it doesn't go the right way, yeah, it's disappointing," said 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — There was never a sense of panic for Patrick Mahomes as he stood on the sideline Sunday night, watching the Bills score yet another late touchdown to regain the lead with 13 seconds left in their divisional-round game against the Chiefs. Thirteen seconds? With plenty of timeouts? No cause for concern. By now, everyone knows what happened next: Mahomes flipped a quick pass to Tyreek Hill and stopped the clock, then found Travis Kelce running down the seam and stopped the clock again. The Chiefs had gone 44 yards and still had enough time to send Harrison Butker out for a 49-yard field goal that pushed the game to overtime. The Chiefs won the coin toss, marched downfield and won the game. “I think it’s a little bit of a couple things,” Mahomes said. “First off, I’ve been in some of these situations before now. I’ve played in some big games, had to make some comebacks, and I have the teammates to do it. I know what it takes to go out there and find...

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers’ long-standing mantra of “I Got Your Back” is now being incorporated into the NFL’s playoff advertising. It’s also being put to use by 49ers players in defending Jimmy Garoppolo. Defensive end Nick Bosa and tight end George Kittle spoke up after Saturday night’s win in Green Bay to say Garoppolo has unfairly received too much, well, criticism, to put in in polite terms. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel fired off an 8:14 a.m. Tweet declaring: “Kraxy how y’all have so much to say about our quarterback … Check His Win Percentage … Okay I’ll Wait. After the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly beat out the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs on Sunday, Chiefs fans decided to donate more than $300,000 — and counting — to a local hospital in New York, turning a victory into an act of charity. About 15,800 fans have donated more than $312,000 to the Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo, according to a Thursday tweet from the hospital staff. The donations are $13 each, representing the 13 seconds it took for the Chiefs to tie up the game on Jan. 23. The Chiefs won the game 42-36 in a heartbreaking loss for the Bills in the playoffs. A Facebook group called Chiefs Kingdom appears to have launched the donation movement to honor the close game. But fans also wanted to match the spirit of the Bills Mafia, a fanbase for the Buffalo football team known for fundraising and charity, ESPN reported. The children's hospital tweeted that it was "overwhelmed" by the outpouring of donations. "Despite a heartbreaking loss Sunday night, our hearts are warm this morning waking up to $13 donations coming from fans!...

They have gone at each other 145 times. The 49ers have owned the Rams in the past six meetings, and have a 75-67-3 mark against their California rivals. Until Sunday, only one of all those confrontations was in the postseason — the Niners won that one, too, 30-3 in 1989 on the way to the most lopsided Super Bowl victory. Now, San Francisco goes for a three-game sweep of Los Angeles, though the Rams will be at home and favored. Each team comes off last-second victories on field goals, the Niners on the Lambeau Field tundra, the Rams in balmy Tampa against Tom Brady and the Bucs. CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati owner Mike Brown stuck with Zac Taylor through two dreadful seasons as the first-time head coach compiled a 6-25-1 record and much of the shrinking fanbase yawned. Different coach, same old Bungles. Before the 2021 season, Brown voiced unwavering support for Taylor, but also made it clear he wanted to see results now. The patience of the 86-year-old owner and his family was rewarded with an AFC North title and two playoff wins that have the Bengals one game from their first Super Bowl in 33 years. Taylor thanked Brown for his trust by presenting him with a game ball after the first playoff win. “If I coach in any other organization, I would not be here in the third year,” the 38-year-old Taylor said. “That’s the truth.” For Taylor it was about getting the right confident, team-first players together at the right time. Getty Emmanuel Sanders celebrates a play in a game against the Miami Dolphins. When the Kansas City Chiefs faced the Buffalo Bills in the postseason, there was a veteran playmaker on the Bills’ offense that has left a sour taste in the mouths of Chiefs fans for the better part of a decade. In 2014, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders became a free agent for the first time since being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010. During that offseason, Kansas City was one of the teams engaging in negotiations with Sanders. From the outside, it seemed like the Chiefs — who had just come off an 11-win season in the first year with Andy Reid as the head coach — were going to sign Sanders. Sanders’ agent, Steve Weinberg, had agreed to a deal “in principle” with Kansas City on behalf of Sanders, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. Canada’s hockey swagger is back at the Olympics. Four years after walking away with bronze after the NHL did not participate in the Games, Canada’s team in Beijing has remnants of the ones that won gold in 2010 and 2014 and a roster that looks capable of doing it again. Top player Eric Staal was in Vancouver, coach Claude Julien was on the staff in Sochi and the standard is again gold or bust. “You can never underestimate experience: the experience of having lived through it,” Julien said. “That’s invaluable.” Julien was an assistant to coach Mike Babcock eight years ago in Sochi when Canada dominated the tournament on the way to beating Sweden in the final. Staal was not only part of the team that won in Vancouver on Sidney Crosby’s golden goal but is one of just 29 players in hockey history to win Olympic and world championship gold along with the Stanley Cup. Staal at age 37 will likely captain Canada, which also features plenty of young talent: 2021 No. 1 pick Owen Power, No. 3 pick...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — You can bet that Texas saw what Kansas State forward Ayoka Lee did to Oklahoma last weekend. It didn’t seem to help a whole lot. Sure, the ninth-ranked Longhorns managed to shut down the rest of the No. 25 Wildcats in a 66-48 victory Wednesday night in Austin, but they didn’t slow down the national player of the year candidate. Lee still poured in 20 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked a couple shots in another exceptional performance in a season full of them. None more so than her 61-point effort against the Sooners, which set the Division I record for a women’s player in a single game. Asked whether Lee will have to get used to all the defensive attention after her big game she replied: “Yeah, but I don’t think it’s anything new.” That’s because the word on the 6-foot-6 junior from Byron, Minnesota, has been out around the Big 12 for a while. Lee eclipsed 20 points nine times during her freshman season, including a 24-point overtime outburst against the Sooners,...

Photo by Timothy T Ludwig/Getty Images The same week we lauded Bills Mafia for their consistent charity, two Buffalo fans were arrested for allegedly using fake vaccine cards to attend a game. But we shouldn’t let the ignorance of two mar the reputation of thousands. As reported by WKBW, 34-year-old Michael Naab and 37-year-old Amber Naab were arraigned this week and charged with one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree. The couple allegedly used fake vaccine cards to enter the Bills home playoff game against the New England Patriots on Jan. 15. “I readily admit this is not the crime of the century,” Erie County District Attorney John J. Fynn said during a Wednesday news conference. “I hate to be the guy that says, ‘I need to send a message.’ I don’t like being that guy, but you can’t do this. There’s a law.
