PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – As the pandemic drags on, a new sub-variant of Omicron is starting to show up. The World Health Organization reports it’s on the rise in dozens of countries. Health experts said this sub-variant, given the nickname “stealth variant,” may be more contagious than Omicron. READ MORE: President Joe Biden Visiting Pittsburgh Friday“But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to make a big impact across the globe yet. We just don’t know,” Dr. Natalie Gentile of the Direct Care Physicians of Pittsburgh said. Dr. Gentile said scientists are still learning about this. It can be a challenge to know what exactly this sub-variant means for everyone. “It seems we don’t want to get too alarmed right away. We don’t want to panic. We want to stick to the things that we know are helpful,” Dr. Gentile said. Yet don’t expect a warts-and-all account of her rise from humble beginnings. Despite her hints at a tough upbringing, the show presents an airbrushed look at the life of the woman in the life of Manchester United’s Ronaldo. The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg slammed Real Time host Bill Maher over his comments about the coronavirus. “I don’t want to live in your paranoid world anymore. Your masked paranoid world, you know, you go out. It’s silly now, you know, you mask, you have to have a card. You have to have a booster. They scan your head,” he said on HBO’s Real Time. “Like you’re a cashier and I’m a bunch of bananas. I’m not bananas. You are.” On Monday’s The View, following playing a clip of Maher’s remarks, Goldberg said: That’s not really funny to people who’ve lost their kids to this vaccine. Or people who lost family members or dear friends to this. It’s just, you know, listen. Nobody on the planet really wants to go through this. This is not something we’re doing because it’s, you know, sexually gratifying. This is what we’re doing to protect our families, and you don’t have to do it, but stay away from everybody because if you are the one who’s not paying  attention, and you’re coughing and sneezing, you don’t want to — then stay out of the public, man. CNBC’s Jim Cramer said on Monday that it might feel good to sell, but don’t do so in a panic because you might not be able to get back in. Cramer cited bad earnings, fears of tightening by the Fed, and the potential for invasion of Ukraine by Russia as factors in stocks plummeting and some alarm across the board about the market. “Look I’m not negative,” said Cramer to Carl Quintanilla on Squawk on the Street. “I’m trying to give you a positive scenario here. I’m saying when stocks are down this much, Carl, that you shouldn’t just say, ‘Holy cow, I’m getting killed,’ because you should realize you’ve been getting killed.” “So now you have to decide what stocks are down a certain percentage from their high, that still could be worth a great deal,” he said. “And those are ones that you have to do some buying.” After some talk about SPACs, CNBC’s David Faber circled back to the general sense of dread. “But Jim, it’s extended far beyond that part of the market to names that...
DEAR HARRIETTE: I bought a good friend of mine a very expensive bracelet a few years ago. Giving her the bracelet meant a lot to me because I knew how badly she wanted it. Harriette Cole  The other day I saw a picture of her sister wearing the exact same bracelet. My feelings are really hurt. How could she give away a gift that I bought specifically for her? I don’t even really know her sister. Should I confront my friend about this? Regifting DEAR REGIFTING: I know how tough that must have been for you to see your gift on someone else’s wrist, even if it was your friend’s sister. However, you need to leave that alone. Gifts are not supposed to come with strings. You gave your friend the bracelet because she longed for it. Clearly, she valued it. Giving it to her sister or just letting her sister wear it (you don’t know the circumstances surrounding that photo) means that it is special to her. You know she loves her sister. Whatever the reason is that she...

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tom Brady has reached the point where each game could be his last. The 44-year-old seven-time Super Bowl champion said in late September he plans to play at least one more season, but he’s indicated several times since that returning will be a family decision. Brady is under contract for 2022 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who host the Los Angeles Rams in an NFC divisional playoff Sunday. If the Rams beat the Buccaneers to advance to the NFC championship game, some are speculating it could be the final game in Brady’s unprecedented career. Asked last month when he’ll know it’s time to retire, Brady said: “That’s a good question. I don’t know. I think I’ll have to just, after every year, think about what the situation looks like for me, personally and professionally. Obviously, I love playing; I don’t think my love will go away. I think I’ll be able to do it, it’s just the other things are kind of happening in my life, in regard to family situations. My kids are...

"Fox News@Night" host Shannon Bream discusses the power of being told "no," her advice to interns, and what others might find surprising about her job to Trey Gowdy on "The Trey Gowdy Podcast." SHANNON BREAM: Well, listen, you do remember Michael Jordan had some no's in his life. I'm no Michael Jordan of broadcasting or basketball or anything else, but I do think it's good. I always tell that story to our interns or when I speak at colleges or high schools because I want people to know, you know, listen, not everybody is going to get you. New York (CNN Business)Potentially abysmal air travel interruptions were narrowly avoided this week when wireless carriers made a last-minute change to their planned 5G rollout in response to fears that new cell service towers could interfere with a key component on passenger jets that allows them to safely land in low visibility conditions.Warnings of mass flight cancellations came as AT&T, Verizon and the airline industry hashed out a deal to delay 5G deployment around major airports. And on Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration cleared a greater number of commercial airliners to fly in the situations where pilots consider possible 5G interference to be the most dangerous. Now, nearly 80% of the United States' entire commercial airliner fleet has that clearance. In the end, crisis seemed to be mostly averted. No planes fell out of the sky. And — with a few exceptions — air travel stayed mostly on schedule. But we're not in the clear yet. CNN anchor Don Lemon reacted with amusement at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s botched attempt to clean up remarks he made about Black voters earlier this week. Earlier this week, McConnell faced backlash when he commented at a press conference that “African-American voters are voting at just as high percentage as Americans.” On Friday night’s edition of CNN’s Don Lemon Tonight, Lemon played some clips of a press scrum during which McConnell tried to clean up those remarks. Lemon noted that after the initial remarks, “[McConnell’s] office told CNN that he left out the word ‘other’ before Americans. And today, McConnell sought to clarify but got that missing word wrong again.” “I want to take an opportunity at the outset here to address the outrageous mischaracterization of my history and record on voting rights and race relations, as I inadvertently leaving out the word ‘almost’ in my comments the other day,” McConnel says in one clip, and later had to wander back to add with an awkward laugh “The omitted word is all. Not almost, sorry.” “As the kids say, cringy, right?...
DEAR ABBY: My 4-year-old grandson, “Johnny,” is obsessed with all things military. Everything he picks up is a pretend gun, sword or blaster. Joe Raedle/Getty Images Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) refused to say on Friday during a press conference whether or not he had received a Covid-19 booster shot. The booster shot has become a political football of sorts for Republicans after former President Donald Trump called politicians who don’t disclose publicly whether or not they have had the shot, “gutless.” “That’s something that I think people should just make their own decisions on,” DeSantis said at a news conference. “I’m not gonna let that be a weapon for people to be able to use. I think it’s a private matter.” DeSantis also dodged the question in December, weeks before Trump’s comments. “I’ve done whatever I did,” DeSantis told Fox Business Network. “The normal shot.” Trump then told far-right One America News Network in January: Well, I’ve taken it. Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam continues to operate for those who serve there, but for civilians who call it home and civilians who work there, life has been anything but business as usual. The Navy recently released new estimates for when families impacted by the Red Hill water crisis can safely move home. The estimates are dependent on the completion of flushing water through contaminated pipelines and subsequently taking water samples and testing them for petroleum. From there, teams will test individual homes as well as neighborhoods. An estimate from the Interagency Drinking Water System shows that the flushing process could take 37 to 44 days under ideal conditions. The Navy initially told residents they could begin to return home at the end of the year, but according to a map showing revised estimates released by officials, some neighborhoods don’t even have possible return dates. A flushing plan is still under development for the Iroquois Point area, while testing in the area that includes Hale Alii, Marine Barracks, and Hospital Point has yet to start. Officials have failed to offer much in terms...

TUCKER CARLSON, FOX NEWS CHANNEL HOST: Good evening and welcome to TUCKER CARLSON TONIGHT.Joe Biden shuffled forth from seclusion this afternoon for a rare solo press conference. You may have seen it. It's about as communist Punxsutawney Phil emerging. In fact, according to statisticians who keep track of this sort of thing, it was only his second since taking office a full year ago. And by the end, you are wishing that Joe Biden spoke in public less often. The whole thing was awful. It was totally weird and embarrassing, not just to him but to the country. At one point Biden treated us to a stream of consciousness thoughts about his son's former employer. That would be a small corrupt nation called Ukraine.Apparently Ukraine's eastern border with Russia, unlike say, our southern border with Mexico is a sacred boundary created by God that must be protected at all costs up to and including American...

Former President Trump condemned investigations into his business and the Jan 6. attack in an interview on Wednesday Former President Donald Trump slammed Democrats and their 'witch hunts' for investigating his adult children on Wednesday evening, claiming they had ruled President Joe Biden's son Hunter to be off limits.  'There's never been anything like it in the history of politics in this country,' he said in a phone interview. 'It's a witch hunt.' He spoke to a small number of reporters to promote a coffee table book celebrating his time in office. But he could not resist condemning Biden's first year in office as well as hitting back at the latest twists in two high-profile probes that had put his daughter Ivanka as well as sons Eric and Don Jr. in the sights of investigators. A day earlier CNN reported that the congressional panel investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol had obtained records of phones belonging to Eric as well as Kimberly Guilfoyle, fiancée to Don Jr. At the same time, the New York attorney general is...
WASHINGTON (AP) — Facing the potential of losing control of Congress, President Joe Biden entered the midterm election year on Wednesday pledging to connect more frequently with voters and present a starker contrast with Republicans aiming to blunt his agenda. During a nearly two-hour news conference marking his first anniversary in office, Biden promised to more frequently travel the country making a case that, despite persistent challenges during the pandemic, his administration has notched notable achievements. He repeatedly said he would use those opportunities to blast the GOP as standing for little more than opposition to him. “What are they for? What is their agenda?” Biden asked. “I don’t know what they are for now.” The remarks amounted to a preview of Biden’s election-year message. But it’s uncertain whether the effort will revive prospects for Democrats, who hold the thinnest of majorities on Capitol Hill and are contending with widespread dissatisfaction with the president. Given those dynamics, it’s not clear that top Democratic candidates will want to appear alongside Biden. When he traveled to Georgia last week, for instance,...
MTV Laurel Stucky and Cara Maria Sorbello There have been many major feuds in past seasons of “The Challenge” and one of them was between two big characters on the show, Laurel Stucky and Cara Maria Sorbello. The two first met on “Fresh Meat II” and started a rivalry, but after they were forced to work together as partners on “Rivals,” they developed a friendship, although it didn’t last for long afterward. Recently, Laurel was a guest on Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio’s podcast, “Death, Taxes and Bananas,” and she opened up about her relationship with Cara Maria over the years and where it went wrong. Bananas asked Laurel the reason why they were rivals in the first place and Laurel answered simply, “Just that she annoyed me.” He said it seemed as though they were still best friends on some seasons despite that and asked if there had been a blowup between the two. Laurel said the term best friends “never came out of my mouth” and said the friendship between the two was played up in the edit...
New York (CNN Business)The attempt to roll out amped up mobile service across the United States has been a bit of a mess. The aviation industry and transportation regulators are worried about new 5G antennas interfering with a key type of aircraft altimeter that's essential for landing planes in bad weather. But wireless carriers and telecom regulators have said there's nothing to fear. The authorities have been in a weeks-long stalemate. And the whole thing culminated this week with some major international airlines canceling some US flights, as regulators, telecom giants, and airlines blew past a deadline to come to an agreement. AT&T and Verizon are now, yet again, delaying their plans to switch on their new 5G antennas near certain airports. Regulators are still hashing out solutions. And a lot remains unclear. The President of Emirates, Sir Tim Clark, told CNN on Wednesday that the airline was not aware of some of the potential 5G rollout issues until yesterday morning, calling the situation "one of the most delinquent, utterly irresponsible" he has seen in his aviation career. Here's everything we do...
