    A Tennessee man was arrested Monday in connection to the death of 22-year-old Robertson County Sheriff's Deputy Savanna Puckett, who was found shot in her burning home on Sunday.  James Jackson Conn, 27, was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with SWAT on Monday morning and charged with first-degree murder and aggravated arson.     SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO – A 33-year-old San Francisco man and an 18-year-old Stockton woman have been arrested on suspicion of abducting a 22-year-old woman and forcing her to work as a prostitute, police said. At 6 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the area of South Airport Boulevard and Wondercolor Lane in South San Francisco for a report of a woman who had been assaulted by a man armed with a gun, the South San Francisco Police Department said in a news release. Officers found the victim at a business on the 300 block of South Airport Boulevard. The suspects were found nearby in a vehicle and were taken into custody, police said. An investigation revealed the victim had been abducted at gunpoint in Oakland on Sunday. Police said the suspects drove the victim to South San Francisco, where they assaulted her. She was then forced to prostitute herself in Oakland and San Francisco, police said.     A New York couple from Long Island is facing hate crime charges after verbally and physically attacking an interracial family on public transport. The entire incident was captured on video in which the couple identified as Justin Likerman and Kristin Digesaro harassed the victim, Liz Edelkind, her husband, and their son by shouting anti-immigrant slurs and chucking beer bottles at them. “Look straight! Don't f***ing look at me! I'm going to get arrested tonight!’” Likerman shouted.     SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — A former IRS agent and current tax Southern California tax professional was arrested last week and accused of running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded an elderly Santa Rosa woman of more than 1 million over seven years. On Monday, Santa Rosa police identified the suspect as Elana Cohen-Roth, 77, of Marina Del Rey. Police said Cohen-Roth’s Ponzi scheme consisted of making interest payments to her investors/victims, while using incoming “investment” funds to allow for her lavish lifestyle. Sedef Kabas’s arrest came roughly one week after she participated in a live interview on Tele1, an opposition television channel, CNN reported, citing state broadcaster Turkish Radio and Television, TRT Haber.     A Fairfield County man has been arrested nearly a year-and-half after a search warrant of his home turned up child pornography on electronic devices. Thomas Finn, age 55, of Norwalk, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 24, in connection with the case that began in January of 2020 in Norwalk. In January of 2020, the Special Victims Unit was contacted by the US Department of Homeland Security regarding an intercept of suspected child pornography on the messaging application “Kik," said Lt. Terrence Blake of the Norwalk Police. Homeland Security agents advised Norwalk Police Detective Kristina LaPak that the suspected child pornography was uploaded from an IP address in Norwalk, Blake said.     A second man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 25-year-old Norristown man who was killed by a stray bullet that came through his window while he was eating Thanksgiving dinner in his home, authorities said. Savian “Dexx” Creary, 19, of Philadelphia,  was arrested on Jan. 22 and charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy, and related offenses, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Norristown Police Chief Derrick Wood jointly announced Monday. Edilberto Miguel Palaez-Moctezuma was sitting at the table eating dinner inside an Arch Street home when he was shot by Kevon Clarke, 19, who was arrested on Dec. 13 and charged with first-degree murder, authorities said.     A woman was arrested after police said she attempted to buy another woman's infant son in the checkout line of a Walmart in Crockett, Texas, for $500,000. Rebecca Taylor, 49, was detained on Jan. 18 after she walked up to a woman with two children and propositioned the mother for her youngest child, according to a report.     One teen was hospitalized in critical condition in Westchester and a second arrested after an early morning stabbing, police announced. Officers from the New Rochelle Police Department responded to the parking lot of a Lincoln Avenue apartment complex shortly after 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, where there was a report of an 18-year-old who was found unresponsive and bleeding from the chest. New Rochelle Police Capt. J. Collins Coyne said that officers began administering first aid, and paramedics transported the teen to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical, but stable condition on Monday, Jan. 24. The investigation led police to identify a 17-year-old Yonkers resident as a suspect, and he was taken into custody. No charges have been announced and Coyne said the name of the victim is not being released immediately. Police said that the investigation is ongoing.     A non-lethal bean-bag round fired by Walnut Creek police officers stopped a driver who was trying to flee from officers on Friday, police said. Officers arrested the person along with a passenger, and nobody was injured, police said. Authorities did not immediately list the charges the two may face. Police in a statement said it all happened after officers were notified by the one of the city’s automated license-plate readers that a stolen vehicle had entered Walnut Creek. Officers located that vehicle along the southern fence line of the parking lot at the Ross Store in the 1200 block of South Main Street.     Two brothers have been arrested for the alleged murder of a missing area man. The New York State Police arrested two Sullivan County men, Jack Carter, age 21, and Nick Carter, age 26, both of Glen Spey, on Wednesday, Jan. 19, for the murder of a missing area man. The arrest stems from an investigation into a missing person report for 74-year-old Mark Eckert, of Glen Spey, who was last seen at his home on Saturday, Jan, 15, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel. An investigation ensued and on Jan. 19, Eckert's was located dead on his property, Nevel said. Jack and Nick Carter were located and arrested in New Jersey and are awaiting extradition back to New York, Nevel said. The New York State Police were assisted by the New Jersey State Police, Rockaway Township Police, and the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office. A reason for the murder has not been determined.
    A Long Island man was arrested for allegedly committing a string of grand larcenies as well as multiple other felonies. Salvatore Paulette, age 32, of Shirley, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 22, following an investigation that determined he was responsible for six incidents of theft of electrical wire from the Patchogue and Bellport Home Depot stores between September and January, Suffolk County Police said. When detectives attempted to arrest Paulette in a commercial parking lot located at The Green, south of Roberts Road, he forcibly resisted and attempted to steal a detectives’ gun before fleeing on foot, police said. He was apprehended by Seventh Precinct Patrol officers who had responded to the area to assist detectives. Paulette was charged with: Four counts of fourth-degree grand larceny  Two counts of third-degree grand larceny  Attempted grand larceny 3rd Degree Attempted robbery Two counts of assault Resisting arrest Criminal obstruction of breathing.  
    A high school student in suburban Philadelphia was arrested Friday morning after bringing a gun and drugs to school, authorities said. Juan Rivera, 18, was found with a handgun, drugs, and drug paraphernalia inside his bookbag at West Chester East High School around 9:30 a.m., West Goshen police said. There were no reported injuries, according to police. Rivera was charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a weapon on school property. He was released from custody Friday after posting 10 percent of $50,000 bail, according to court records. His preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 2, records show.

    LONG BEACH (CBSLA) — Long Beach Police Department announced that they arrested the gunman wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred in Long Beach on Jan. 16. The incident occurred at around 10:15 p.m. that Sunday, when authorities reported to the business were a shooting was reported to have taken place. When they arrived, they found a man, 39-year old James Lopez, of Bell suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. On Friday, authorities arrested Salvador Rivera, 33-years-old, of Wilmington, in connection with the murder. He was arrested around 2:30 p.m., during a routine traffic stop near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Roswell Avenue in Chino. He is being held at Long Beach County Jail on $2 million bail. Incident reports detailed that Lopez, the victim, was an employee at the business on Willow Street where Rivera was on Jan. 16, when a verbal dispute broke out between the two of them that escalated into the shooting.     VENICE (CBSLA) — An altercation that broke out in Venice on Sunday evening resulted in one death, one injury and one person arrested. All three individuals involved in the incident were males. The identity of all three men has been withheld by authorities as an investigation continues. Los Angeles Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Beethoven Street at around 7 p.m., and when they arrived they found one person dead at the scene.     SONORA (CBS13) — Theodore Young was arrested for the murder of Rebekah Gall, who died from injuries she sustained in a driving under the influence crash on State Route 108 near Chicken Ranch Road on January 18, 2022, according to the Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office. Young was arrested and bailed on accusations of DUI in connection with the incident on Tuesday. Officers from the California Highway Patrol apprehended him after obtaining a warrant for his arrest. The CHP was able to arrest Young without having to wait for formal charges to be filed by the District Attorney’s Office on Monday by obtaining a Ramey warrant. The District Attorney’s Office backed CHP’s request for a Ramey arrest warrant in order to apprehend Young for murder. On Monday, January 24, 2022, a complaint will be filed by the District Attorney’s Office charging Young with murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence causing brain injury, and driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher causing brain injury with a prior driving under the influence conviction.

    PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A suspect has been arrested after a double shooting in Philadelphia’s Frankford section left two men critically injured on Sunday night, police say. The shooting occurred just after 7:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of Arrott Street inside a neighborhood market. Police say a 23-year-old man was shot once in his left side. He was transported to Temple University Hospital and placed in critical condition, according to officials. The second victim, a 28-year-old man, was shot once his left arm once in his left side.     A 38-year-old Long Island man was charged after police said he sent sexual messages an inappropriate picture to a 16-year-old girl. Andrew Quattrone, of Manorville, was arrested in Wantagh on Thursday, Jan. 20, for first-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor, according to the Nassau County Police Department. NCPD said a 16-year-old girl received texts from an unknown number that included vulgar, sexual messages and an inappropriate picture. She asked the sender to stop but continued receiving texts, police said.  Police said Quattrone was arrested in the incident after an investigation, and he was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday, Jan. 23. Authorities asked anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a similar incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.

According to a release issued by the Livermore Police Department, starting on Dec. 5, the department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau began investigating several sexual batteries involving female joggers near the running trail on East Avenue and Vasco Road.
