THEY say that every cloud has a silver lining - and the only good thing about a bad first date is that you never have to see or speak to that person ever again. But while sending an "it was nice to meet you" message is generally considered the polite thing to do, one woman was left reeling after her nightmare date kept texting her for all the WRONG reasons. 2Katie's video has racked up almost 500k 'likes' 2NINTCHDBPICT000707393694Credit: Instagram/@katielacie In a viral video that's racked up almost 500k "likes", TikToker Katie Lacie shared some of the absolutely savage messages her date sent after telling her he wasn't interested in a relationship. Starting off politely enough, he wrote: "Hey - I had fun on our date but I don't really see this going anywhere." Katie then replied: "No worries - good luck!" Determined to say his piece, the man then offered to tell her what it was that turned him off - which Katie (unsurprisingly!) wasn't interested in hearing. (CNN)Back in the fall, despite favorable political winds for their party and a heavy courtship, Senate Republicans were unable to convince New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu to jump into the race against Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan, one of their top 2022 targets. Sununu, now preparing to run for reelection this fall, opened up on his decision during an interview with the Washington Examiner's David Drucker. To hear Sununu tell it, he was "pretty close" to entering the Senate contest. But then he spoke to his potential colleagues. Sununu said of the Senate Republicans he had talked with: "They were all, for the most part, content with the speed at which they weren't doing anything. It was very clear that we just have to hold the line for two years. OK, so I'm just going to be a roadblock for two years. That's not what I do."Read More Sununu's candid comments underscore an increasingly clear political reality: If Republicans take control of one or both chambers of Congress in November, legislating in Washington will all but grind to a...
As part of a plea deal in a drug sales case, Orange County prosecutor Claudia Alvarez tried to warn defendant Rogelio Garcia Jr. that he could be charged with murder if he ever sells fentanyl-laced drugs causing a death. But Garcia didn’t want to hear it. With his hands shackled, Garcia couldn’t put his fingers in his ears. So on the advice of Deputy Public Defender Justin Cerrillo, prosecutors say, Garcia started humming in open court.  And he kept humming — loudly — until Cerrillo gave him the sign to stop. The novel legal strategy hit a sour note with Judge Cynthia Herrera, who rejected the plea deal and ordered Garcia to face trial and the prospect of a longer sentence. It’s unclear whether the humming defense will catch on at Southern California courthouses, but it shows the lengths that defense attorneys will take to push back on efforts by prosecutors in some counties to charge fentanyl-related deaths as murders. Prosecutors don’t consider the deaths as overdoses, but as poisonings. By issuing a warning, they believe it will strengthen potential...

Having played Kazaam, Steel and various roles in Adam Sandler movies, Shaquille O’Neal is no stranger to acting on the big screen. But Shaq had his chance at a role that was eventually nominated for an Oscar and the NBA superstar said no thanks. Shaq joined Andrew Marchand and John Ourand on their sports media podcast this week, and the four-time NBA champion was asked if he ever turned down a prominent movie role. The answer was shocking. “That was my role in Green Mile,” Shaq said. “I turned it down.” Shaq was referring to the role of John Coffey, played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan. “I didn’t want to play the down-South African American guy during slavery,” Shaq explained. “I didn’t want to play that role. But the guy who played it, Michael Clarke Duncan, did an excellent job. I think I made the right decision because he did way better than I could have done, but I got offered that role.” Clarke Duncan’s portrayal of Conner was nominated for best supporting actor at the 2000 Academy...
Emily Ratajkowski alleges in her new book that Robin Thicke sexually assaulted her on the set of the Blurred Lines music video in 2013 — but she insists that she doesn't believe in 'canceling' him and doesn't even think he's a bad guy. The 30-year-old model — whose book of essays, My Body, was released on Tuesday — reflected on the uncomfortable moment when Robin, 44, drunkenly put his hands on her bare breasts during the shoot, admitting on a new episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast that she'd pushed the memory from her mind for many years. But though she chose to include it in the second chapter of her book, Emily said she had no intention of encouraging fans to cancel Robin, and she is sure he has plenty of good qualities. 'I don't believe in canceling someone,' she said. 'I'm sure that Robin Thicke has a lot of wonderful things about him. I don't believe in good guys and bad guys. I think our world needs to understand that we live in a culture that allows...

The book ‘Unsinkable Messi’ also claims the six-time Ballon d’Or winner struggled to communicate with coaching staff at the La Liga giants. ABC legal analyst Sunny Hostin said Wednesday on ABC’s “The View” that the 57% of Virginia’s White women who voted for Glenn Youngkin for governor want to pretend slavery didn’t happen. Guest host NBC Sports broadcaster Michele Tafoya said, “Biden utter his name 25 times in a speech, and it didn’t stick.” Hostin said, “I think it did stick. I think Trump was very present. I think he made a lot of phone calls for Youngkin. I think Youngkin was careful not to mention Trump by name, but he was Trump all in. If you look at the exit polls, 57% actually of White women voted for Youngkin, much like 55% of White women voted for Trump over Hillary Clinton, and what they said during the exit polls was that CRT was their most pressing issue.” She added, “I think what’s interesting is that, you know, Democrats are not good with the messaging that CRT is fake.” Co-host Joy Behar said, “It doesn’t exist in the school system. It’s in law school only.” Hostin said, “Of course, it doesn’t.” Co-host...
A hiker who was lost on a Colorado mountain for more than 24 hours ignored calls from the search and rescue team because they didn't recognize the phone number.  The hiker was reported missing to Lake County Search and Rescue around 8pm on October 18 after they failed to return from their morning hike on Mount Elbert.   Search and rescuers were informed that the hiker had begun at the South Trailhead at 9am that morning but hadn't returned to base 11 hours later.  The team then called the hiker several times to try to locate them but never got ahold of them.  Rescue teams spent the evening searching for the missing man and continued the search through to the next day, only to learn the hiker - who was completely unaware anyone was looking for him - had returned home safely at 9.30am that morning, on October 19. The hiker was reported missing around 8pm when they were overdue from their hike starting at the South Trailhead, one of the most popular trails of the five routes along the...

The 25 best political comedies ‘Wrecking Ball’ Songwriter Mozella Falls for Updated Santa Monica Tudor When the allegedly independent investigation into the depths of the Washington Football team’s toxic workplace concluded this summer, the NFL’s suffocation of information had already been implemented. Despite what was arguably the most serious and widespread probe in league history into a team’s internal environment, very little of it was papered. Or at the very least, papered in a way that could create the kind of historical record that often tangibly links the principal offenders to those who are charged with holding them responsible for their acts. Instead, the NFL determined that attorney Beth Wilkinson wasn’t required to produce a written report, choosing for commissioner Roger Goodell to hear the news through oral reports and verbal findings. At worst, it sounded like a pre-emptive coverup. At best, it was a chess move that could allow the NFL to control both the flow of information and the shape of the narrative that would come to define it. Of course, the NFL has never explained why...
by Maurizio Valsania, Università di Torino President Joe Biden has mandated vaccines for a large part of the American workforce, a requirement that has prompted protest from those opposed to the measure. Meanwhile, a similar move in New York City to enforce vaccinations has resulted in more than a dozen businesses' being fined for flouting the rules. The basic idea behind the objections: Such mandates, which also extend to requirements to wear masks and quarantine if exposed to COVID-19, are a breach of the Constitution's 14th Amendment, which states that “no state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States." The objectors ask: Aren't mandates un-American? As a scholar who has spent decades trying to unravel the hurdles that mark the beginning of this nation, I offer some facts in response to that question – a few very American facts: Vaccination mandates have existed in the past, even though they have similarly sparked popular rage. No vaccination foe, no latter-day fan of the Gadsden Flag's “DONT TREAD...
BROMLEY COUNCIL did not award Emma Raducanu freedom of the borough because they 'didn't want to embarrass her or ourselves'. Calls were made to give the teenage tennis sensation the accolade following her incredible US Open win in September. 2Emma Raducanu will not be given freedom of the borough by Bromley CouncilCredit: Splash However, Conservative councillors opted against following through on the proposal. Deputy Mayor Tony Owen told the London Evening Standard: "We have written to the family and received a reply from her representative who said the family don’t really like a fuss. “Clearly she has a great career ahead of her and we are very proud of her success. But we didn’t want to embarrass Emma. "And we don’t want to embarrass ourselves, which it would be if she refused [the award.]” The Labour group in Bromley put the suggestion forward, with freedom of the borough the highest civic award a local authority has the power to give. Leader Angela Wilkins claimed some councillors announced they would refuse the motion - because Raducanu is only ranked 24th...

A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction that will allow New York health care workers to apply for religious exemptions to the state COVID-19 vaccine mandate. US District Judge David Hurd made the ruling on Tuesday after 17 Catholic and Baptist health care workers sued the state last month, saying they objected to being forced to take a vaccine that used 'fetal cell lines' from 'procured abortions'. The order prohibits the New York State Department of Health from interfering with religious exemptions or taking disciplinary action against workers who have sought or obtained them.  Gov. Kathy Hochul, responding to the order, said she backs the vaccine mandate, whose original deadline was September 27, with the state's 450,000 medical and care staff expected to have received at least one vaccine dose by that date.  'My responsibility as Governor is to protect the people of this state, and requiring health care workers to get vaccinated accomplishes that. I stand behind this mandate, and I will fight this decision in court to keep New Yorkers safe,' she wrote in a statement. US...

"Full Frontal" host Samantha Bee admitted in a new podcast interview that she knew her audience did not want to hear disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was an "a--hole" because he was a "hero" and "dad" to many at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The staunchly left-wing Bee told "Sway" podcast host Kara Swisher she'd had "show-wide conversations" about the "super problematic" governor last year, but the team decided it wasn't the right time to share that information with their audience. She argued her audience would not have received any scandals well because at that time Cuomo was one of few leaders giving daily updates about the pandemic and many considered him a "hero" and even their "dad." Cuomo's leadership at the beginning of the pandemic was heralded as the "gold standard" by then-presidential candidate Joe Biden, and marveled at by much of the media. But, his star fell quickly after revelations about his nursing home COVID-19 policies and a subsequent cover-up of deaths, as well as multiple women accusing the governor of sexual harassment this year....
