The Russian death toll amid Putin's war in Ukraine now stands at more than 25,000, according to the Land Forces of Ukraine's latest figures. A total of 25,500 Russian soldiers have been killed in bitter fighting, while Putin's forces have lost 1130 tanks, 199 planes, 156 helicopters, 509 artillery systems and 2741 armoured personnel carriers, the Land Forces claim. The startling figures come as Europe and Ukraine celebrate Victory in Europe Day (VE Day), marking the triumph of the Allies over Nazi Germany in 1945. Russian forces meanwhile are engaged in bloody battles all along the eastern front from Kharkiv to Mariupol as Putin tries to secure some kind of victory to bolster Russia's Victory Day celebrations tomorrow, May 9.   Western estimates of the Russian death toll in Ukraine are somewhat lower, but still place the losses to the Kremlin's forces upwards of 15,000. It comes as Russia lost its 39th high-ranking officer on the battlefield today.  Lt-Col Fezul Bichikaev, 36, was killed in a skirmish near Ukraine's second city Kharkiv, where Ukrainian forces have mounted a counter-offensive to take...
HERO Ukrainians are using tiny Mad Max style buggies to obliterate monster Russian tanks - and even take down planes. Mounted with Stugna-P anti-tank guided missile systems on their roofs, the nippy two-seater vehicles are wreaking havoc for Vladimir Putin's forces as they are wielded by Ukrainian defenders. 2Ukrainian defenders are using mini buggies to blast Russian tanks and even planesCredit: @@AbraxasSpa/Twitter 2The all-terrain vehicles are mounted with missile systemsCredit: @CalibreObscura/Twitter Russian troops have suffered severe losses since the war began in February with Ukraine claiming it has killed more than 23,000 of Moscow's soldiers. The wrecks of Putin’s war machines also litter the land he ordered his forces to invade as Ukraine also claims it has destroyed more than 1,000 tanks, 2,400 armoured vehicles and 345 aircraft. The brave defenders have been using inexpensive battle buggies amid their display of defiance that has stunned the world. In a David versus Goliath style battle, Ukrainian hit and run raid teams have been fielding the Ranger UTVs against some of Russia's most terrifying and lethal armoured vehicles. Corrupt Russian officers may have saved cash on tyres for their trucks and armoured vehicles by opting for cheap Chinese alternatives. With Russian vehicles and armoured trucks getting stuck in the mud when veering off road, officials in the West are pointing to Chinese exports as a key factor behind the stalled invasion of Ukraine. The poor quality of the tyres has meant Russian vehicles often get mired in difficult terrain, slowing the military advance of Putin's forces as the weather turns wetter. NATO vehicles use Michelin XZL tyres, but Chinese businesses often copy the intellectual property of Western companies to produce cheaper copies in greater quantities. Ukrainian forces capture a Russian army vehicle near Kyiv with the tyres burst. This is the incredible moment a Ukrainian tank fired through a demolished building to take out a Russian armoured personnel carrier on the other side in a single shot. The images show the Ukrainian tank moving up the street in the war-ravaged town of Rubizhne, 40 miles from Luhansk in the east of Ukraine.  It suddenly opened fire on a stationary Russian military vehicle, hitting it and destroying it in one shot. The shell passed through the partially destroyed building that stood between the Ukrainian tank and the Russian military vehicle, reportedly an armoured personnel carrier.  A small cloud of dust could be seen being dislodged from the building as the ordnance fired by the Ukrainian military vehicle passed through it before hitting its target. A Ukrainian tank scores a direct hit against a Russian BMP armoured personnel carrier (right of shot) from several hundred metres, with the shot passing through the burnt out husk of a building (left of shot) The Ukrainian tank (centre of shot) appears to be operating alone, advancing up a street in the burnt our battelscape....
This is the moment a Ukrainian troop carrier fires at a Russian battle tank with everything it's got - and lands several blows. The video appears to show one of Kyiv's BTR-4 armoured infantry transport cars aim and fire its 30mm cannon at the invading tank, which is left in flaming tatters. Russia's latest military humiliation comes as the Kremlin redeploys forces who failed to take Kyiv eastward. Ukraine is now bracing for an all-out assault in the Donbas region. Russia intends to forge a strategic corridor between Crimea and its own sovereign territory via the Donbas. Roads like this one in Donetsk are therefore set to remain the scenes of intense fighting. Putin's battle tanks are fitted with cannons more than four times the size, at 125mm. But they're less mobile and quick to aim than plucky troop carriers like the BTR-4, whose cannons are also rapid-fire.  Rapid-fire cannon fire from the armoured troop carrier is seen slamming the Russian tank Striking footage shows the pair of military vehicles fire at each other on a road out of Donetsk,...
BRITAIN is set to send 120 Mastiff armoured cars to Ukraine and more fighter jets to the Russian border in a fight back against Vladimir Putin. UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said Britain would step up arming the war torn nation and vowed to do whatever he could to help back those fighting Putin's troops. 4Britain is sending fighter jets as part of its NATO mission in Romania 4UK Defence Minister Ben Wallace confirmed Ukraine would receive 120 Mastiff armoured vehicles 4Calcinated cars outside Kramatorsk train station which was hit by a Russian rocket attack The vehicles were previously used in Afghanistan and can be shipped over via Europe. As he joined British RAF personelle in Bucharest, Romania, to kick off a four month air policing mission yesterday he vowed to stare down Putin's bullyboy tactics. And Britain will send another two typhoon jets out to Romania next week to help support the NATO air mission out there - joining four already in the region. The wreckage of an obliterated Russian convoy lying along a Ukrainian highway west of Kyiv has been captured on video by a drone, after Vladimir Putin's forces fully retreated from the region. President Volodymyr Zelensky's forces ambushed the tanks as they travelled down the highway - a tactic Kyiv has employed to great success across the country to repel Vladimir Putin's vast numbers of slow-moving military hardware. Two aerial videos show several rusting wreckages of the tanks and other military vehicles on the E40 highway, a main road that runs into Kyiv from the west.  In the first video, around ten blackened wreckages can be seen in a closely-packed column down the middle of a three-lane highway. Another is shown off to the side. Scroll down for video  Pictured: Drone footage shows around ten blackened wreckages in a closely-packed row down the middle of a three-lane highway. Ukraine could 'break' the Russian army if it was given enough weapons from Western allies, it has been claimed. Last night, British intelligence sources suggested there is a more positive mood on the Ukrainian side with a belief that the Russian army is 'exhausted' and could be pushed back with better weaponry. The weaponry sought by the Ukrainians has been compiled into a shopping list and submitted to allies. It is believed to include aircraft, tanks, armoured vehicles, long range artillery, anti-ship missiles and air defence systems. Yesterday, the Czech Republic became the first NATO member to supply tanks to Ukraine and now Britain is considering following suit.    The Ministry of Defence is said to be considering providing reconnaissance or long-range and protective patrol vehicles, such as the Mastiff or a Jackal. Sensitive equipment would be stripped from the vehicles and British soldiers sent to a neighbouring country of Ukraine to carry out training, a defence source told The Times. Additional support – which is likely to include anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles – is also expected to be announced in...
INCREDIBLE drone footage shows one Ukrainian tank taking on an entire Russian column, leading to several vehicles being destroyed. The T-64 tank can be seen lurking beside a house, waiting to ambush Vladimir Putin’s forces coming along the road about 50 yards in front of it. 5A Russian armoured vehicle in flames after being hitCredit: Twitter/UAWeapons 5The Russians begin firing back wildly but can't locate their enemy As the Russians roll by, the Ukrainian tank opens fire at the middle of three BTR-82 armoured personnel carriers, each carrying up to 10 troops. The first shot misses with the shell exploding on a hill bit a subsequent shot hits one of the BTR-82s, which can be seen in a fire ball on the road. Meanwhile the Russians begin firing back wildly at where they think the tank is hiding but none of their shots hit the tank as they steer around the flaming wreck. Russian soldiers soon begin pouring from the vehicles and fan out to see cover. READS MORE ON UKRAINE FLEE NOW OR DIE Ukraine warns of fresh Russian...
A Ukrainian drone captured what appears to be yet another ambush as a column of Russian armour is decimated, this time outside Kyiv. Numerous tanks can be seen blowing up under a Ukrainian assault on the outskirts of Dmytrivka. A follow up video filmed by a person on the ground driving through the aftermath showed wreckages of what are thought to be BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and T-72 main battle tanks. The Ukrainians struck as Russian forces beat a retreat from Kyiv and the north of Ukraine, with the Kremlin saying earlier this week it would reduce military activity near the Ukrainian capital and the northern city of Chernihiv.

The Mercedes Maybach S650 Guard VR10, belonging to ex-Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov, was confiscated by Italian authorities on the island of Sardinia in response to Russia's actions in Ukraine. 7A £500k supercar belonging to one of Putin's cronies has been seizedCredit: Mercedes 7The Mercedes Maybach S650 reportedly belonging to Usmanov 7Usmanov's car has four inch thick bulletproof glass windowsCredit: Wikimedia Commons 7 Weighing a hefty five tons and featuring a bullet proof floor made from a single armoured panel, the black supercar can survive the detonation of two hand grenades at once and an attack from an assault weapon with steel-armoured bullets. It was registered on June 6, 2018, and was bought by a company in Arzachena in Sassari, northern Sardinia. It is believed that the car, which draws comparisons to Donald Trump's vehicle "The Beast" which he used when in office, was at the disposal of President Putin on his secret...
PARANOID warmonger Vladimir Putin travels around Moscow cocooned in a seven-tonne armoured car that can resist bomb and chemical weapons attacks. And in true James Bond style, its occupants can survive even if the car is completely submerged in water. 6 6The Aurus Kortezh limo has been designed to resist bomb attacksCredit: Getty 6The £1m car has a series of distinctive featuresCredit: Reuters 6Putin's car has armoured walls, night vision cameras and auto-tightening seat beltCredit: Reuters The giant Aurus Kortezh limousine has run-flat tears, night-vision cameras, 6cm reinforced glass, an air compassion system to protect against gas attacks, armour plating and an emergency exit through the boot. It also recognises road signs and limits its speed and when faced with inescapable collision, the Aurus can automatically move the passenger seats to a safer position, tighten all the seat belts and then close all the doors and windows. The £1m motor has a 4.4-litre V8 engine and is 23ft long. At least 12.4 billion rubles - £150 million - of state funding was poured into designing the car. READ MORE ON...
Newly released footage filmed on defender drones shows the Ukrainian army wiping out multiple Russian armoured vehicles and a command centre as the war enters its 18th day. The first video was shared online on Sunday morning and appears to show rockets being fired at three armoured vehicles in the Ukrainian south-eastern city of Mariupol. The aerial footage, which was circulated by several unverified accounts, shows a BTR-82 APC and KamAZ-63968 'Typhoon' vehicle being targeted successfully. It is not clear when the strike took place.
"I saw an armoured vehicle and there was automatic fire," he told the outlet. "And here this car, with probably an anti-aircraft gun on it, was already here ... Two armoured vehicles were driving along the road, and the second of them deliberately drove into the oncoming lane. It was not by chance, it was for fun, there was no need for this. And it just ran into this car. Stopped, reversed over it again and drove on."
Some 'living fortress' dinosaurs lived a lonely life, according to a new study, finding well-armoured ankylosaurs were deaf and moved in a sluggish way.  Palaeontologists took a closer look at the brain case of ankylosaur dinosaurs relative, to better understand the life and behaviour of these robust creatures. The team from the University of Greifswald in Germany and the University of Vienna in Austria used micro-CT scans to take a closer look at the herbivores.   Struthiosaurus austriacus was related to the club-tailed ankylosaurs, a herbivore that lived in Europe about 80 million years ago, and reached up to 26ft, with spiny bones across its neck and shoulders. They found that the creature was likely something of a loner, who moved sluggishly and avoided others of its kind at at had 'particularly poor hearing'.  Some 'living fortress' dinosaurs lived a lonely life, according to a new study, finding well-armoured ankylosaurs were deaf and moved in a sluggish way. RUSSIAN bombers and armoured vehicles have been deployed to the border sparking fears a Ukraine invasion is imminent. Fresh footage shows the Russian tanks on manoeuvres in a region bordering Ukraine as new frontier curbs have been imposed by Moscow. 3It is feared Russian forces are gearing up for an invasion of Ukraine amid ongoing tensions 3The fleet of huge tanks seen on manoeuvres in Voronezh near the border has sparked concerns 3The ‘Baltimore” airfield has also reopened after an 8-year renovation, seeing fighter bombers deployed to the base A major air base for bombers in the same district, Voronezh, has also reopened after an eight-year upgrade. The ‘Baltimore” airfield is home to Russia’s 47th bomber regiment, part of the 105th Combined Air Division of the Western Military District, and is just 105 miles from the Ukrainian border. This has only fuelled Western claims - denied by the Kremlin - that Vladimir Putin is preparing for invasion. The first 17 Su-34 fighter bombers were deployed at the base in recent days when a reopening ceremony was held, according to reports....
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is a car enthusiast - he’s been an automotive journalist and he’s appeared on Top Gear twice.  But you wouldn’t know that from the cars he’s been known to drive and own.  5Boris Johnson's AX has appeared in the background of his media appearancesCredit: PA:Press Association While he’s enjoyed access to all sorts of expensive vehicles, his own fleet has often been a lot more modest.  The Prime Minister’s official car - or the Prime Ministerial Car - is actually a fleet of armour-plated Jaguar XJ ‘Sentinel’ saloons. They’re designed to withstand explosives and gunfire, as are the Range Rover ‘Sentinel’ models that the Prime Minister also has access to.  “Boris prefers the much roomier Range Rover Sentinel, and they had a load of new ones delivered last year so that’s what he swooshes around in nowadays,” said a Westminster source. “XJ Sentinels and a couple of BMW 7 Series are still used for other protected persons and agency heads.” “Government fleet cars now tend to be Jaguar I-Paces, standard (non-armoured) Jaguar XJs, some newer Jaguar...
When British soldiers deployed to Helmand 15 years ago their Taliban counterparts were shabbily dressed in tattered traditional outfits and armed with decades-old Russian rifles and grenade launchers. While they possessed guile in spades, and knew every inch of the jungle-like 'Green Zone' where battles were fought, they were poorly equipped and poorly trained. Now, following the ramshackle withdrawal of international forces, the Taliban has been bequeathed a £62billion bounty of military equipment, including hundreds of fixed-wing aircraft and tactical helicopters, tens of thousands of armoured vehicles and hundreds of thousands of weapons.  The transformation in the group's appearance and capability could scarcely be more vivid or disturbing. Sandals and shalwar kameez have been replaced by combat boots and tailored camouflage uniforms. Ancient AK47s are nowhere to be seen. Instead today's Taliban carry US Green Beret-issue M4 carbines with telescoping stocks.  The Taliban of 15 years ago were seldom if ever seen wearing helmets. But today their headwear is more expensive and more advanced than that worn by most British troops. The hundreds of thousands of weapons, vehicles, aircraft...
Russia has unveiled footage of a new amphibious 'flying and swimming tank' which can be parachuted into battle.  The Sprut-SDM1 can be dropped into combat zones from a cargo aircraft with a crew of three inside, while designers claim it can also function in 4ft waves at sea.  The Kremlin sees the state-of-the-art invention as giving Russian forces a key edge on NATO, but also as a money spinner on the international arms market.  The US Army once had its own parachuting tank called the M551 Sheridan, but it was plagued by problems including the thin armour which was necessary to make it lightweight but also made it vulnerable to mines and grenades.  Dropping in: Russia's amphibious Sprut-SDM1 tank is parachuted to the ground in a promotional video, with manufacturers saying it can carry three crew while doing so The tank would be dropped by parachute from a Russian Il-76 cargo aircraft which can carry two of the light armoured vehicles at a time  One of the tanks dropping from a plane in a promotional video released by...
This is the moment 'drunk' Russian soldiers smashed a high-speed armoured vehicle through  a barbed wire perimeter wall at Volgograd airport after racing along roads at 55mph. The video shows how the armoured vehicle with a 100 mm gun and a 30 mm automatic cannon smashes through the metal fence of the airport. Corporal Alexander Zherebtsov, 29, had alarmed locals driving his BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle at 55 mph on a busy street.
