In Milwaukee, one of two cities vying to host the Republican presidential convention in 2024, Democrats were pilloried by the potential visitors after predawn election results delivered Wisconsin for Joe Biden in the 2020 White House race. Rival Nashville, Tennessee, is run by a mayor whose Democratic brother was effectively redistricted out of his congressional seat by Republicans. It’s safe to say those two Democratic strongholds have mixed feelings about landing the GOP convention. Hosting the once-every-four-year assembly is an immediate spending jolt, plus a few days of invaluable national exposure. But it also means rolling out a welcome mat for bitter political foes. “Some people don’t want to see this happening,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, a Democrat. “Some people are holding their nose about bringing this to Wisconsin. But when you set politics aside, this is how we’re going to jumpstart our economic activity in southeastern Wisconsin.” The cities made their final pitches to the Republican National Committee in Washington last week and a final decision is expected soon. It may rest on whether Republicans see more...
After a hard fought season and an even crazier playoffs, a champion has been crowned by who won the NBA Finals 2021?  It took an absolutely iconic performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks have brought the Larry O’Brien trophy home. For the first time in 50 years, the Bucks are celebrating a title and the city of Milwaukee is celebrating a championship. The Green Bay Packers brought home a Super Bowl in 2010, but that celebration was confined to the community around Lambeau.Who won NBA Finals 2021?The Milwaukee Bucks erased an early deficit in the series to claim its second title in the franchise’s history. After leaping out to a 2-0 series lead, the Phoenix Suns imploded. Once the series shifted back to Milwaukee the wheels started to come off in a big way for Phoenix, and Giannis had two incredible moments in the games ahead that would come to define the series. The first was his block in Game 4 that helped the Bucks literally thwart a comeback attempt by the Suns. In the following game, Jrue Holiday...
Not only for Game 5 but the rest of the postseason, do the Milwaukee Bucks or Atlanta Hawks need their star more? The Eastern Conference Finals have been much better than people expected. The Atlanta Hawks continue to shock the world, having the series tied 2-2 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Despite the competitiveness of the series, injuries have impacted both teams in huge ways. Decision time: Which team needs their star more?Out of the two teams, it’s obvious the Bucks need Giannis more than the Hawks need Young. The time he was out of Game 4 was alarming for many reasons. The Bucks couldn’t stop the Hawks without Young, their offense was almost non-existent, and once again, Middleton didn’t step up when needed. Those three things show that Giannis is too important of a piece for Milwaukee to be without. The Hawks may be younger, and Young may be more special offensively, but Antentokounmpo is the glue that holds the Bucks team together. When he’s out, it hard for them to generate offense from others, which is a huge concern....
United Airlines set to hire 25,000 by 2026 after massive jetliner order Walmart to launch lower-priced insulin offering savings of up to 75% In 2019 and 2020, the Milwaukee Bucks blew No. 1 seeds. They failed to make the NBA Finals, losing in different but equally disappointing ways.  In most of the few decades before that, the Bucks just weren't very good. Playoff disappointments were an upgrade, because plenty of years before Giannis Antetokounmpo arrived the Bucks weren't even making the playoffs.  Game 3 against the Atlanta Hawks was the type of game the Bucks haven't won too often over the years. It was another breakthrough. Heading into Game 4, the Bucks are 6.5-point favorites at BetMGM. Milwaukee is an eye-popping -1600 to win the series. They're -110 to win a championship.  Of course, Trae Young's injury affected Game 3 and it's affecting the Game 4 line. Young is a star who has gone to another level in the playoffs, but the trajectory of the series changed when he stepped on an official's foot and suffered a bone bruise....
James Harden has two more Eastern Conference heavyweights on his preferred destinations list. The Houston Rockets, just a few days removed from trading Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards in exchange for John Wall, might be close to trading their other future Hall of Famer in James Harden. While Harden has been angling for a trade to Kevin Durant’s Brooklyn Nets, he also listed the Philadelphia 76ers, now run by former Rockets GM Daryl Morey, as a satisfactory landing spot. Perhaps seeing how his late arrival to training camp ruffled some feathers, Harden is now eyeing two more Eastern contenders. Per Shams Charania, Harden has now added the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks to his list of teams he would accept a trade to. Milwaukee Bucks power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo may have publicly stated that he has no interest in leaving his team to join forces with other superstars and take an easier road to win his first NBA championship title. However, it would be a different question if big names expressed their desire to team up with him in Milwaukee. In a recent interview with the Greek network Cosmote TV, Antetokounmpo discussed several interesting topics, including the possibility of playing with other superstars on the Bucks. If players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Davis decided to leave their respective teams to join him in Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo said that he is willing to accept a lesser role as long as it would give him a realistic chance of reaching the NBA Finals and bringing home the Larry O’Brien Trophy. “If LeBron, Durant, Davis came to Milwaukee, I would be fine,” Antetokounmpo said, as translated by Miles Lockhart of Sportskeeda. “I do not care who is first, second, third. I want to win. At 18 I did not understand, but now I want...
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Best record in the majors. More home runs than anyone. Best bullpen ERA and home record in the National League. The Los Angeles Dodgers have checked nearly every box on the way to their eighth straight postseason appearance. Corey Seager and Joc Pederson congratulate A.J. (Getty Images) Now if they could just do something about that 32-year championship drought. “It’s World Series or bust every year,” manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday. With Mookie Betts in the fold, the Dodgers are poised for a new challenge in the postseason, starting with Game 1 on Wednesday in their best-of-three playoff series against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Dodgers rolled through the shortened 60-game season with a 43-17 mark (21-9 at home) and slugged 118 homers. Betts was as good as advertised in his first season in Los Angeles, hitting 16 homers at the top of the order. He led the team in stolen bases with 10. “With Mookie at...
Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have hit a stumbling block in the Playoffs that even they didn’t expect. They were on the verge of being swept by the Miami Heat before they won game four in OT. The interesting thing about the game 4 win was that it was mostly without Giannis playing. Giannis has been nursing an ankle injury and sat most of game four out, as the Bucks rallied behind Khris Middleton to avoid a series sweep. The two-time all-star had a game-high 36 points in the win. However, he did it by taking 28 shots in the absence of Giannis, who played just 11 minutes. Middleton spoke about the win later and ESPN reposted his comments. He praised the depth of the team behind Giannis and said that the team will fight to overturn this deficit. “We’re a complete team. He’s the MVP, should be again this year. But we still have a hell of a team behind him. We’re going to fight to win every night.” Milwaukee Bucks pull off a historic upset without...
The NBA's board of governors and the players remaining inside the league's bubble at Florida's Disney World will meet separately on Thursday to discuss the remainder of the season after Wednesday's playoff games were postponed when the Milwaukee Bucks staged a boycott in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake on Sunday. ESPN was the first to report the two separate meetings, which could determine if the 2019-20 season is completed or abandoned amid a nationwide debate over civil rights and police brutality. Bucks players refused to take the court for Game 5 of their first-round playoff series with the Orlando Magic, and in doing so, brought the North American sports world to a screeching halt for the second time in 2020 following the initial coronavirus outbreak in March. Despite being snubbed by their top targets last summer, the New York Knicks still haven’t given up with their dream of adding a legitimate superstar on their roster. The upcoming free agency may not be as star-studded as the previous offseason, but rumors are circulating that plenty of big names will be available on the trade market this fall. One of the most intriguing targets for the Knicks in the 2020 NBA offseason is reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks have already told everyone in the league that they have no intention of making Antetokounmpo available on the market this fall, but if they change their mind and decide to take a different route, the Knicks are one of the few teams that could make them an interesting offer. However, the Knicks would be needing to pay the king’s ransom if they want to bring the “Greek Freak” to New York. According to Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, the Knicks would be needing to use Mitchell Robinson or RJ Barrett as the main trade chip to...
