At least 21 people were left injured from three separate shootings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Friday evening, local authorities said. The shootings took place within several blocks of the Milwaukee Bucks stadium in the city's Deer District, where a playoff game between the Bucks and Boston Celtics was taking place. Three people were reported wounded from the first shooting, one was injured in the second shooting, and 17 people sustained injuries in the third shooting, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. All the individuals who were shot were treated at a hospital, and police noted Saturday they were expected to survive. A handful of those injured were arrested. "I know you all have questions about what this was about, and I'm going to be honest with you, we are not there yet," Assistant Police Chief Nicole Waldner said during a press conference, adding that the department needed "time to investigate." At least 20 people have been injured in two shootings in downtown Milwaukee following the Bucks’ loss to the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA’s Eastern Conference semifinals, authorities said. Three people were shot near the arena where the Bucks were playing. Two hours later, another 17 people were shot in downtown Milwaukee. Ten people were taken into custody from the shooting downtown, and nine firearms were recovered, Milwaukee Police Capt. Warren Allen said, according to CNN. He said all victims ranged in age from 15 to 47 and that they are all expected to survive. In the first shooting, two men, aged 26 and 29, and a 16-year-old girl were wounded, according to Allen. “There was a 19-year-old male taken into custody in connection with this incident,” Allen said. “Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.” Police did not reveal a possible motive or name those involved.
BOSTON (AP) — The Milwaukee Bucks are still alive in the NBA playoffs, but star Giannis Antetokounmpo is already joking about his plans for next year. After scoring 40 points to help the Bucks take a 3-2 lead over Boston in the Eastern Conference semifinals on Wednesday night, the two-time MVP asked reporters out of the blue: “If I don’t play after this season, do I still get paid? Do you guys know how it works?” Antetokounmpo, 27, was asked how he would spend his sabbatical. “If I take a year off, what would I do?” he repeated. “I would disappear. I would go to an island in Greece, stay with my family and disappear for a year.” As he walked off, he added: “I’m being serious.” (© Copyright 2022 The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. Getty Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics As we approach game five of the Boston Celtics‘ second-round playoff series against the Milwaukee Bucks, we’re still no closer to knowing which team will make it to the Eastern Conference finals. After dropping game three on May 7, Boston roared back to secure a win on the Bucks’ home turf on May 9 and even up the series at two games apiece. Both teams face a battle for dominance, with Boston looking to take the series lead on their home floor when they face the Bucks on May 11, a game that places the victor one win away from the conference finals. Fox Sports Skip Bayless believes that the Celtics are the team most likely to survive this playoff battle and that their immediate future is looking incredibly bright, especially after how convincingly the team took care of the Brooklyn Nets in their opening series of the postseason. Getty Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics Following their game three loss against the Milwaukee Bucks on May 7, the Boston Celtics face an uphill battle to qualify for the Eastern Conference finals. Poor three-point shooting and an inability to consistently get their star wing duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown firing simultaneously have been costly issues the Celtics have dealt with over the last three games. Luckily, the Celtics are still within touching distance of evening up the series and will be looking to do so in game four on May 9. Despite losing their previous contest, the Celtics can be buoyed by the fact that despite their poor shooting night and uncharacteristically bad performance from Tatum, they only lost by two points, thanks in large part to a stellar showing from veteran big man Al Horford. MILWAUKEE (AP) — The quirks of scheduling for the NBA playoffs created three-day breaks between games in the Boston-Milwaukee and Memphis-Golden State series. In this case, the teams don’t mind the delays too much. They have used the time off to get healthier and deal with unexpected roster changes. “It’s beneficial in a lot of ways,” Celtics coach Ime Udoka said. The Celtics-Bucks and Grizzlies-Warriors series are both tied heading into Game 3s on Saturday at Milwaukee and San Francisco. These four teams haven’t played since Tuesday. NBA teams rarely get such long layoffs. For example, the Grizzlies had three off days between games just once during the regular season, aside from the All-Star break. Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said he would have preferred to have two days between games rather than three. But he felt players could benefit from having time for a mental break amid a grueling series. “There’s definitely positives,” Bucks center Brook Lopez said. “It is helpful to recover. It’s helpful because you can watch film, you can go over what the other team’s doing,...
BOSTON (AP) — Giannis Antetokounmpo had his second career postseason triple-double, scoring 24 points with 13 rebounds and 12 assists on Sunday to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 101-89 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series. Jrue Holiday had 25 points and 10 rebounds for the defending NBA champions, and Bobby Portis had 15 points and 11 boards to help the Bucks swipe the home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series. Getty Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics Injuries are an unwelcome certainty in professional sports, and can quickly swing the odds in an opponent’s favor. The Boston Celtics are usually on the losing end of such issues and have regularly seen their playoff hopes dashed due to a key player coming down with a season-ending injury. Just last season, Boston had to go into battle without Jaylen Brown and suffered an early exit from the post-season as a result. However, it’s the Milwaukee Bucks who are currently reeling, as star sharpshooter Khris Middleton has been officially ruled out of the team’s upcoming second-round series against the Celtics, courtesy of a grade two MCL sprain. Getty Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, who are set to face the Boston Celtics in Round 2 of the NBA Playoffs. The stage is set. The Boston Celtics now know who they will face in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. With their Game 5 win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night, the Milwaukee Bucks advanced to Round 2 and now have a date with the Celtics. This will be the first time the two teams have played each other in the playoffs since the 2019 postseason. That year, the Celtics won Game 1 but then proceeded to get swept the rest of the way, with Milwaukee winning in five games. They would go on to lose in the Eastern Conference Finals to the eventual champions, the Toronto Raptors. Game 1 of the series is set to take place on Sunday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m. EST. The Chicago Bulls season ended with an air of inevitability Wednesday night as the team crumpled against the Milwaukee Bucks in a 116-100 Game 5 loss to close their best-of-seven first-round series. The Bulls’ chances went from unlikely to grim after starters Alex Caruso (concussion) and Zach LaVine (COVID-19) were both ruled out of Game 5 early Wednesday. Bucks fans weren’t excited as they trickled into Fiserv Forum — they were expectant. Even Bulls coach Billy Donovan arrived in Milwaukee with dimmed positivity. “We’ll see what happens tonight,” Donovan said before the game. “Look, stranger things have happened.” The only unexpected part of the loss was DeMar DeRozan’s stat line. Without LaVine available to balance the scoring, the weight of the Bulls offense fell fully onto DeRozan’s shoulders. After his 41-point performance in their Game 2 victory, the Bulls knew what DeRozan is capable of under duress — but so did the Bucks, who spent the night throwing themselves in the All-Star forward’s way. DeRozan couldn’t cut through the swarm of Bucks defenders who surrounded him anytime he touched the...
BOSTON (CBS) — The Celtics dispatched the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night, completing a four-game sweep and leaving Boston basketball fans left to wonder one very straightforward question: What’s next? That’s a question without an answer at the moment, as the Celtics will have to wait for a conclusion in the first-round series taking place between the Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls. The Bucks own a 3-1 series lead and will be hosting Game 5 on Wednesday night, with a chance to clinch the series and advance to the second round. If the Bucks do end their series on Wednesday, then the Celtics-Bucks series will start on either Saturday or Sunday, according to MassLive’s Brian Robb. If the Bucks need a sixth game on Friday night to win the series, then the Celtics-Bucks series will start on Sunday. And if that series ends up needing seven games to be resolved, the Celtics will host Game 1 of the second-round series on Tuesday, May 3. In the meanwhile, the Celtics will enjoy some well-earned rest as they prepare for their next...

The Chicago Bulls delivered some hope in Game 4 against the Milwaukee Bucks. That was an improvement, at least, for fans at the United Center after the beatdown of Game 3. The offense matched blows with the Bucks throughout the first half, avoiding an early hole. Patrick Williams finally delivered on his young promise, scoring 20 points in his best performance of the playoffs. The Bulls scored more transition points in the first half (6) than they had in any game in the series so far. But all that didn’t matter when Giannis Antetokounmpo woke up.
