The story of how DeuxMoi came to be is something of pop culture lore, oft-repeated between friends at brunch, regaled by college students to their social media-inept mothers, and published in countless articles over the past two years. The celebrity gossip Instagram page was famously born from a whim in March of 2020 when, bored and stuck at home waiting out the first COVID-19 lockdown, an anonymous New York City-based woman shared a request with her followers: “celeb stories (first or second hand) you are willing to share.” The profile, @deuxmoi, was left over from a defunct fashion blog the woman had started with a friend years earlier, and it had a modest but not-insignificant following of 45,000 people who gleefully sent in messages about their celebrity encounters. The tips ranged from innocuous anecdotes (maybe a famous comedian kindly posed for a picture with someone at Starbucks, for example) to salacious sex stories, like the rumor that Leonardo DiCaprio likes to wear headphones when he does the deed, earning him the DeuxMoi-coined nickname “Headphones Dino Bones.” The account administrator took...
Spotted: another celebrity-centric series heading straight to HBO Max. Last year’s Gossip Girl revival apparently wasn’t enough for the streamer, which is now looking to Instagram’s very own anonymous scandal spreader for another juicy drama. Per Deadline, HBO Max has given a script-to-series order to Anon Pls, which will be based on DeuxMoi’s debut novel of the same name, hitting shelves this November. Promising a bit of The Devil Wears Prada with a dash of Gossip Girl, Anon Pls follows Cricket Lopez (a fake name, for sure) as she revamps her IG account into the celebrity gossip blog we know and love today. As an assistant to one of the most notorious celeb stylists, Cricket knows all the inside scoops—which she cleverly leverages for social media popularity (and maybe even a date or two). Billed as “curators of pop culture,” the DeuxMoi account took off as folks were isolated at home during the early days of the pandemic. By late 2020, it had risen to 1.5 million followers and spawned several anonymous interviews with its elusive founder (who has yet...
Ziwe Fumudoh is back to making celebrities uncomfortable on TV with the second season of her eponymous Showtime talk show. Released on Thursday, the trailer for the new episodes of Ziwe reveals an incredible lineup of guests. Model/author Emily Ratajkowski, anonymous Instagram gossip queen Deux Moi, and—we saved the best for last—Chet Hanks will all appear in front of the Apology Cam. Ilana Glazer, Charlamagne Tha God, Hannibal Buress, Mia Kalifa, Nicole Byer, and Adam Pally are also on the guest list. 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski and the Countess herself, Luann de Lesseps, have special roles. In the trailer, Fumudoh kicks off her chat with Hanks with a bang, asking him what accent he will be using to conduct the interview. Later, she asks Ratajkowski what empowerment means to her, to which she replies with a perplexing, “I don’t know what empowerment means.” Ever iconic, the host then asks Deux Moi point-blank what race she is. (The answer? “I don’t like to say.”) Fumudoh’s show, which premiered its first season last May, grew from her popular Instagram Live series...

ABC Is Michelle Young already single? Warning: “Bachelorette” spoilers ahead.  According to Reality Steve, Michelle ends up choosing Nayte Olukoya on the finale, and the two do end up getting engaged. Dave Portnoy’s Bravo crossover appears to be fan-fiction. The Barstool Sports honcho, who is also known as “El Presidente,” recently denied rumors that he and “Real Housewives of New York” star Ramona Singer previously hung out together in the Hamp tons. “Who the f–k is Ramona Singer,” Portnoy responded via an Instagram message, which was obtained Thursday by Deuxmoi. In the original claim, which was also posted to Deuxmoi’s Instagram story, Singer was said to be at a Hamptons haunt some time ago and that Portnoy was in attendance as well. Portnoy then doubled down in his Instagram message, “Umm no. I did not hang out with her.” Page Six is also told that Singer does not know Portnoy. Singer, who is currently filming for Season 13 of “RHONY,” finalized her divorce from husband Mario Singer in 2016. They share one daughter, 25-year-old Avery.
Leonardo DiCaprio loves having sex with his headphones on. A Real Housewife runs a NXIVM-style diet program. Jay Cutler is dating “White Power Barbie.” Vince Vaughn is quite rude to his fans. And Senator Lindsey Graham goes maskless in airports. I owe all of this juicy gossip to Deuxmoi, a highly addictive Instagram account that’s become the go-to source for celebrity tea-spilling during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, providing a light tonic of sorts to our daily doomscroll. “People are home and looking for another entertainment outlet,” Deuxmoi tells The Daily Beast. “If there was no quarantine, it wouldn’t have grown at all.” And grown it has. The account, run by an anonymous young woman in New York City, has swelled from 45,000 followers at the beginning of lockdown to around 234,000 and rising. Deuxmoi (“a made-up French word”) began in 2013 as a lifestyle account featuring interviews with local entrepreneurs but things took a sharp turn on March 18, when the poster, who works a full-time job, fired off a message to her IG audience. “It was the last day...
