Hollywood Mad Libs Lost Its Mind AgainThere are times when you wonder if you’re just online too much. (Those times include: the moment I wake up until the moment I pass out phone-in-hand still autoplaying Instagram Stories, the three-minute exception each day being the sacred time watching Kelly Clarkson’s new “Kellyoke” drop from her talk show.) The endless scroll and flickering digest of information can dizzy you into a bleary-eyed and nonsensical fog of buzzwords, headlines, and viral phrases, to the point that you can’t steady yourself enough to determine if what you’re reading could possibly be real. Welcome to 2022. It’s all insane, yet it’s all real. This is all...
Country music legend Dolly Parton, viral internet star Doja Cat, and Taco Bell are cooking up a Mexican pizza-themed musical for the social media platform TikTok, the country singer confirmed Tuesday. The new musical marks the return of the fan-favorite "Mexican Pizza" to the franchise's menu on May 19 after the dish was discontinued in 2020. The idea was inspired by a TikTok jingle written by Doja in March, and the musical was suggested by TikTok comedian Victor Kunda, who is also expected to appear in the production. "Here it is y'all! We're making a musical about my favorite pizza, the Mexican Pizza," Parton shared on her Instagram, along with a photo of the script. "I can't wait for you to see it!" SEE IT: DOLLY PARTON PAYS TRIBUTE TO NAOMI JUDD IN HEARTFELT LETTER The musical is based on a "true story of the internet losing its mind" and includes a script by writer and producer Hannah Friedman, who is a co-executive producer of Willow on Disney+, according to the photo. (CNN)In an extremely 2022 move, Dolly Parton and Doja Cat will star in a TikTok musical for Taco Bell, themed around -- what else? -- the chain's dearly missed Mexican Pizza. That sentence could have been generated by AI that was fed a list of buzzwords, but no! "Mexican Pizza: The Musical" is real, a fast food ode to the Taco Bell menu item that will return to stores this month, and it will air live on TikTok on May 26. It all started when Doja Cat shared a "contractual" rap for the chain, with a silly trumpeted beat and Taco Bell's titular chime, about Mexican Pizza, which was taken off Taco Bell's menu in 2020. "I will end you if you ever dare to go discontinued," she rapped halfheartedly in her ironic jingle. "This ain't even Mexican food." Taco Bell is bringing back a fan-favorite menu itemTikTok comedian Victor Kunda took her jingle and ran with it, parodying what an intense rehearsal for a professional production of "Mexican Pizza: The Musical by Doja Cat" might look like. The resulting...

Starting today, TikTok is rolling out new music-themed filters that promise greater interactivity. The first of those, Music Visualizer, is available to use right now. It includes real-time beat tracking software that will animate the filter to the beat of a song. You can access it through the dedicated Music tab within TikTok’s Creative Effects tray. In practice, it creates a purple background with several planets strewn across the sky. A polygonal landscape in the midground pulses to the beat of the music. In short, if you love synthwave, you’ll love this effect. The filter works with all the sounds in TikTok’s music library, and it’s available to all users globally. You can already see people using the filter — though sometimes it’s easy to obscure what it’s doing. TikTok will roll out five other new effects over the coming weeks. One of those allows you to synchronize still images to the beat of a song. Another lets you add animated text overlays to video transitions. Then there’s Music Machine, arguably the coolest of the new filters. This...
