COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) — Capri Isidoro broke down in tears sitting on a chair at the office of a lactation consultant. The mother of two had been struggling to breastfeed her 1-month-old daughter ever since she was born, when the hospital gave the baby formula first without consulting her on her desire to breastfeed. Now, with massive safety recall and supply disruptions causing formula shortages across the United States, she also can’t find the specific formula that helps with her baby’s gas pains. “It is so sad. It shouldn’t be like this,” said Isidoro, who lives in the Baltimore suburb of Ellicott City. “We need formula for our kid, and where is this formula going to come from?” As parents across the United States struggle to find formula to feed their children, the pain is particularly acute among Black and Hispanic women. Black women have historically faced obstacles to breastfeeding, including a lack of lactation support in the hospital, more pressure to formula feed and cultural roadblocks. One Texas restaurant owner is doing all he can to feed the babies in his community amid the baby formula shortage that has swept the nation. Benji Arslanovski, who owns Our Place Restaurant in Mansfield, Texas, has been giving away formula to local families who have been hard-pressed to find the precious product, KDFW reported. During an interview on Fox News Channel’s Fox and Friends Friday morning, he told host Steve Doocy that he has given away more than 300 cans thus far, adding that Texas Health of Mansfield has offered to pitch in on the effort by donating 105 cans.  Arslanovski’s effort first started when he ordered six cases of Gerber formula from the foodservice distributor US Foods and took to social media to alert families that he had product in stock, the Dallas Morning News reported. The post was shared thousands of times, according to KDFW. Arslanovski noted on Fox and Friends that he initially intended to sell the product at cost, but after the first interaction with a woman who needed formula, he decided to give the...
His Fraudulency Joe Biden’s baby formula shortage is so dire that even far-left CNN has been forced to report on the tragic fallout. Of course, CNN buried the real news in its own piece. Biden’s baby formula crisis is so bad that at least two children have been forced to undergo surgery. “Desperate families turn to hospitals when their hunt for formula comes up dry,” reads the headline from CNN, a left-wing propaganda outlet that spreads conspiracy theories and political violence. On Wednesday, Breitbart News reported on two babies in Tennessee hospitalized over Joe Biden’s failure to provide America’s children with adequate baby formula. Now CNN tells the story of another child. Her name is Alexis Tyler. She’s three years old, and her desperate mother has not been able to find her formula since March. Now Alexis will have to undergo surgery. “In the next few days,” CNNLOL reports, “doctors will start the process of admitting Alexis to the hospital to surgically implant a tube into her stomach so her parents can feed her something else.” Yep. Thanks to Joe...
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The production of baby formula may soon be increasing thanks to two new measures by the White House. President Biden is invoking the defense production act to increase the manufacturing of baby formula and he is also authorizing the pentagon to use its military cargo plans to fly in formula from overseas producers. This follows Monday’s announcement that the Food and Drug Administration came to a deal with Abbot Northwestern to reopen the company’s production plant in Michigan in an effort to ease the nationwide shortage of formula. The updates provide some relief to millions, but parents will still have to wait roughly ten more weeks for the new supply to hit store shelves. In the meantime, Minnesotans are turning to social media in the search for formula. Tosha Anderson started the Facebook group Formula Finder – Minnesota on May 11. Since then, nearly 3,200 people across the state have joined and update the page at all hours of the day of what types of formula are available and where people can find them. She said the...

The shortage has impacted stores across the country. More than 40% of the top-selling formulas are out of stock after manufacturer Abbott was forced to close down a plant linked to several infant hospitalizations, including two deaths. “It is so hard to find baby formula . . . I have to call numerous markets, like, over 12 markets,” Imani, a mother raising her child in Baltimore, told WJZ. Biden announced that he would be invoking the act on Wednesday. He said he wanted “to ensure that manufacturers have the necessary ingredients to make safe healthy infant formula here at home.” His solution is known as “Operation Fly Formula.” Essentially, Defense Department aircraft will be tasked with...
The worry that comes with a newborn has been especially taxing on some parents with the recent nationwide shortage of infant formula.  Formula supplies have decreased by 40% since April, with the shortage stemming from supply chain issues, according to Fox News.  In response to the shortage, President Joe Biden enacted the Defense Production Act and launched Operation Fly formula on Wednesday, May 18.  The action will send aircraft overseas to pick up baby formula and speed up the import of baby formula to the United States.  As families wrestle with questions surrounding the issue, here are some tips to ease your mind about the shortage, provided by the Fairfax Government Office.  - Do not panic buy. Purchase only a 10-14-day supply each time. It appears unlikely that the supply is going to run out, and hoarding will only make shortages worse. - Call a store to check on the stock or check the online inventory before going to purchase formula. - Call your OBGYN or pediatrician to see if they have samples or can suggest a formula that is similar. -...

WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – As a national shortage of baby formula continues to impact young parents across Colorado, now the issue has started to reach a crisis level. Many parents who are financially stable have started to contact area food banks in search of formula. (credit: CBS) According to Weld Food Bank in northern Colorado, their staff has not had one single can of formula donated in nearly a month, meaning parents of all financial backgrounds are competing for the same goods elsewhere. Some staff with Weld Food Bank said their typical visitors already have a hard time affording pricey foods like formula, and the scramble to pay top dollar for the few remaining cans at stores is challenging for those on restricted incomes. “We haven’t seen a can of baby food being donated in weeks and weeks,” said Bob O’Connor, CEO of Weld Food Bank. “We are not in a position at this point to help anybody.” During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, food banks saw a dramatic spike in Coloradans needing their assistance. The demand dropped...
Pete Buttigieg said the baby formula shortage is affecting him and his husband Chasten as they have had to 'root around' and talk to friends out of state to get food for their nine-month old twins. BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Parents are scouring store shelves and enlisting friends and family from out of state to find baby formula for their children amid a nationwide shortage. Family members from out of state have also volunteered to hunt for formula and send it their way. This is obviously the result of a baby formula recall. Under normal conditions, this could be fixed quickly. But to make matters worse, a supply chain issue is compounding the pressure. A Maryland mom of four is furious at the Biden administration for the current state of affairs in the country — particularly the supply chain crisis and the impact it is having on her children, as she struggles to find formula for her 10-month-old twins. “I have enough formula for two babies for 14 days,” Kayla Zurenko, a mom of four, told Fox News Digital, explaining that she has searched the tri-state area for formula for her babies. “Where am I going to find formula after that?” This was not always an issue for Zurenko, as she breastfed her children up until January 2022, but stopped because she contracted the Chinese coronavirus, thrusting her among other parents who are facing similar panic over shortages of baby formula. “I sent him [her husband] for a curbside order and the order got canceled,” Zurenko told Fox News Digital, explaining that they were eventually able to find some at Target. After that, she tried to breastfeed again, but she realized that her milk supply “just never came back to a sustainable level” after she...

He explained to 1011 Now: “Sometimes, to a limited degree, we [doctors] have access to some samples that the formula companies have given to us or we may be able to guide you in some other directions that way.” Getting formula samples from your baby’s doctor can be an intelligent temporary fix to lean on in the midst of this unprecedented shortage.
