Jackson State coach Deion Sanders called Nick Saban a liar for insinuating that they paid top recruit Travis Hunter to attend their school. Sanders has built a great culture at Jackson State — an HBCU — in just over a season in charge. Because of this, and due to the fact he’s a Pro Football Hall of Famer and one of the more outspoken former players in the sport, he’s succeeded in recruiting as well. The NIL era opens up a whole can of worms around college football. Sanders’ biggest recruiting win thus far has been landing top recruit Travis Hunter, who was favored to attend one of the larger, Power 5 schools instead. Yet, he chose little ol’ Jackson State. Saban believes money was involved and stated as much in a public comment. “Jackson State paid a guy $1 million last year who was a really good Division I player to come to their school,” said Saban. “It was in the paper, and they bragged about it. No one did anything about it.” Deion Sanders responds to Alabama coach Nick...

Officers learned that Mr. Sanders was inside the home (...) and was refusing to let one of the residents leave," the statement read. "Officers set up a perimeter around the house. A sergeant with the Lawton Police Department (LPD) then began giving Mr. Sanders orders using a PA system in a patrol vehicle. Shortly after commands were given, a female resident of the home exited."Controversial Police Encounters Fast FactsSanders was later seen going out the back door of the home, and an officer gave "commands to show his hands, which he immediately complied with," according to...
As Bernie saw it, to win, we would have to reach out to new audiences. That didn’t only mean going on Fox or Rogan. Bernie wanted to create his own media. For that reason, probably no development was more important to our campaign than something that had occurred nearly two years before it launched. In February 2017, Donald Trump would deliver his first address to Congress. While the Democratic Party would have an official response, Bernie decided to do one of his own as well. We had a massive audience on Facebook and the ability to stream live from the studio on the sixth floor of the Hart Senate Office Building. And we knew millions of supporters from the 2016 campaign would want to hear what he had to say. During Tom Daschle’s time as Democratic leader, he built a fully functioning television and radio studio for the caucus. The Senate has a facility that all members can use, but the one Daschle built is just for Democrats. The facility includes a full soundstage and a modern control room. Most...
by Jeffery Rendall   “I’m not sure, I think I need a couple more minutes to decide.” We’ve all been in a restaurant scenario where, once the party is seated, the server makes repeated visits to the table and one or more members of the group equivocates and stonewalls on what to order, sending the poor waiter or waitress schlepping back to obscurity due to someone’s indecision or just plain laziness. After a couple semi-desperate attempts to pin down the holdout(s), he or she then gives up asking and doesn’t return until beckoned to do so by an impatient leader of the hungry contingent. Essentially, everyone waits while one or two souls deliberate. Democrats only wish it were that simple in choosing a 2024 presidential candidate. With one recent survey revealing that there were more people selecting “Not Sure” than chose senile incumbent president Joe Biden (28-19%) as their candidate of choice in the next national election, liberals surely realize they have a heck of a problem on their hands. It’s almost as though America’s voters are collectively patronizing an eating...
MEDIA WINNER: Symone Sanders It can be hard to let go of an ingrained notion or political presumption. That’s as true for a cable news pundit as a random Twitter user – maybe more so. But former Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris spox, and former Joe Biden adviser Symone Sanders made it look effortless on Wednesday. Perhaps no state has faced more criticism in the media and from Democrats on the pandemic than Florida. It has been treated as a given that the state did the worst job, and a supposed whistleblower who was fired was almost a folk hero on some cable networks. But during MTP Daily, when Chuck Todd remarked that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis “is unafraid to put his hand on the hot stove” on controversial issues, Sanders smoothly drew some distinctions of fact. “I was critical of Gov. DeSantis, still am, during the height of Covid, but if you really look at the numbers, Florida actually came out all right,” said Sanders. “He’s got a story to tell,” interjected Todd. “He has a story to tell,” replied Sanders. As of April 19, Florida has the 17th most...
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Mark Wahlberg is calling "Father Stu" one of the most rewarding films of his entire career. He was so moved by this true story of redemption and second chances, that when studios turned it down, he spent millions of his own money to finance it.The actor tells ABC7's Hosea Sanders that the theme of salvation will speak to a lot of people during this Easter and Passover weekend.Stuart Long knocked around as a low-level boxer, with dreams of Hollywood. A crash nearly took his life and he became a man of faith. That belief was tested by crippling illness, but Long used his fate to reach others in despair.Sanders: "You are excited about this project, you're passionate about it -- what made you want to tell Father Stu's story?"Wahlberg: "Oh, it was such an inspiring story. It certainly inspired me, and I thought, it's certainly an important story, especially right now, people are losing faith and losing hope."Sanders: "Do you see any parallels in your life? Where you came from? Just the way Stuart came from a place?"Wahlberg: "Absolutely,...
On Saturday night what the State Police described as a “gunfight” broke out at a car show in Dumas, Arkansas, leaving a 23-year old victim dead and 27 others injured – including six children, 19 months and older. It is the largest mass shooting of the year. Republican gubernatorial candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders had just 33 words to say about the devastating shootout in her state. Arkansas’s current governor, Republican Asa Hutchinson, issued this statement on Sunday, calling the mass shooting “a total disregard of the value of life.” pic.twitter.com/8JiQRNWQQo — Gov. Asa Hutchinson (@Gov. Asa Hutchinson) 1647799212 The car show is part of an event that “provides family-friendly entertainment and raises money for scholarships and school supplies for underprivileged youths.” Sarah Huckabee Sanders also issued a statement, on Twitter only, not on any other of the social media accounts listed on her campaign website. “Prayers,” she offered, calling it “senseless and tragic,” and thanking law enforcement. It was just 33 words. Prayers for the community of Dumas for the senseless and tragic shooting at a community event last night....
Bravo Below Deck season 9 The last charter guests on “Below Deck Sailing Yacht” caused a lot of problems for the crew and one of the primaries, Charles “Chuck” Sanders, was particularly critical of the food. After the episode aired, fans blasted Sanders and his wife Erica Rose, and the crew was also very open about how negative the experience was. Captain Glenn Shephard even stated in an Instagram comment, “I hope to never see Erica, Her Mother and Charles again, I doubt they’d want to come back.” In the past couple of weeks, Sanders made some comments about his behavior on the boat and he claimed that he was acting over-the-top on purpose. In one Instagram comment, Rose said, “Remember it’s a TV show at the end of the day. And sometimes the chefs are encouraged to do certain things.” Sanders went even further and wrote, “That scene I scripted with the producers like four times.” However, Captain Glenn just shot down any claims that the show is scripted, and even Sanders walked back his comment. Getty Chris Berman speaks at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016. Detroit Lions fans don’t need any kind of reminder about how excellent Barry Sanders was during his years with the team, and it was always easy to catch Sanders highlights all over television and re-watch them to witness his mastery. Sanders was unlike any other player in the league, which is why he deserved a special kind of catchphrase. ESPN’s Chris Berman was just the man to give it to him as one of the top football voices of all-time. Berman has had some legendary lines through the years, but perhaps his best was actually inspired by Sanders himself. The latest Lions news straight to your inbox! Join the Heavy on Lions newsletter here! Join Heavy on Lions! In a recent interview, Berman was asked about “whoop,” which is one of his go-to phrases during highlights. As he said, it was the way Sanders moved on the field which inspired it, given there was really no other way to describe his wizardry. We...

Getty Emmanuel Sanders celebrates a play in a game against the Miami Dolphins. When the Kansas City Chiefs faced the Buffalo Bills in the postseason, there was a veteran playmaker on the Bills’ offense that has left a sour taste in the mouths of Chiefs fans for the better part of a decade. In 2014, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders became a free agent for the first time since being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010. During that offseason, Kansas City was one of the teams engaging in negotiations with Sanders. From the outside, it seemed like the Chiefs — who had just come off an 11-win season in the first year with Andy Reid as the head coach — were going to sign Sanders. Sanders’ agent, Steve Weinberg, had agreed to a deal “in principle” with Kansas City on behalf of Sanders, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. However, when all was said and done, Sanders joined the Denver Broncos instead. The latest Chiefs news straight to your inbox! Join the Heavy on Chiefs newsletter here! Weinberg...

Oklahoma State’s Spencer Sanders massively improved his 2023 NFL Draft stock after his record-setting performance in the Fiesta Bowl victory over Notre Dame. While the 2023 NFL Draft is expected to be infinitely better at the quarterback position than what 2022 will provide, one player whose stock has soared after bowl season is Oklahoma State’s Spencer Sanders. Though draft-eligible now as a junior, it would serve Sanders to return to Stillwater for one more year. He has started all three years in school. Oklahoma State was one yard from getting into the College Football Playoff. Not only that, but Sanders absolutely eviscerated the Notre Dame defense with his record-setting passing day in the Fiesta Bowl. He was electrifying for the Pokes. Sanders completed 34-of-51 passes for 371 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Cowboys’ narrow 37-35 victory over the Fighting Irish. He also had 17 carries for 125 yards on the ground to lead all rushers. His 496 total yards are a Fiesta Bowl record.Oklahoma State’s Spencer Sanders’ NFL Draft stock is heating up after Fiesta BowlThough a tad undersized at 6-foot-1...

It is extremely hard to get a cool nickname. Lots of people have an alternative to their government name but they’re usually even more embarrassing than whatever the two adults decided at birth. Stuff like Baby or Frog or Chet. Even fighter pilots, who are mandated by the bloat of the military-industrial complex to have nicknames (call signs)—and who are supposed to be some of the coolest guys in the biz—get saddled with extremely lame nicknames. (Top Gun was revisionist–for every “Maverick” and “Ice Man”, there’s a “Banana,” a “Nuts,” and an “Omlet,” plus some problematic stuff.) So, how did Deion Sanders do it? This guy got people to regularly refer to him by not just one, but two sick as hell nicknames: “Neon Deion” and “Primetime.” It’s an incredible achievement. The obvious answer is, if you’re not familiar...
On Tuesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) said that the Build Back Better reconciliation bill was “Bernie Sanders’ bill” and that there was only one Democrat in the Senate who was willing to oppose spending trillions of dollars with high inflation. Toomey stated, “I mean, I give Joe a lot of credit, the amount of abuse and flack he has taken from some of his colleagues, from the left wing all over America. It’s really pretty shocking when you think about it, here’s one Democrat in the United States Senate, one Democrat, who thinks maybe it’s not a good idea to turn America into a socialist welfare state. Maybe we should just pause here, especially at a time when we have a record-high amount of debt, inflation at [a] 40-year high, do we really want to spend many trillions more? Just, let’s have a pause, and they blow him up for that.” He added, “Let’s be honest, this is Bernie Sanders’ bill. And that’s why Bernie Sanders is so livid with Joe...
