Over the weekend, a video of NBA referees Scott Foster and Ed Malloy not knowing who rapper Jack Harlow was during an NBA playoff game went viral, causing a whirlwind of laughter and jokes at the expense of the officiating crew. Well, those same refs got their revenge Wednesday — posting a parody clip using Harlow’s hit “Nail Tech” to their Twitter account, making a shortened music video of the officials singing the song. We would like to refute @SportsCenter‘s claim that we don’t know you. pic.twitter.com/YRUvCDzq1y — NBA Referees (@OfficialNBARefs) May 4, 2022 “We would like to refute SportsCenter’s claim that we don’t know you,” NBA Referees’ official Twitter account wrote, putting the video in the same thread as Harlow’s initial reply to the name-game blunder. To be honest, I didn’t think the NBA refs had it them, especially with Scott Foster — one of the league’s more controversial officials — leading the charge in the parody. The clip went viral, obviously, as Harlow offered up a response of his own Wednesday night, not totally impressed with...

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Surveillance video shows a Black 17-year-old struggling with staff at a Wichita juvenile center last fall before he died after he was restrained facedown for more than 30 minutes. Sedgwick County released 18 video clips late Friday afternoon of what happened before Cedric Lofton was rushed to a hospital on Sept. 24. He died two days later. The release of the clips followed Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett’s announcement Tuesday that the state’s “stand-your-ground” law prevented him from pressing charges because staff members were protecting themselves. He also said he struggled with whether an involuntary manslaughter charge was justified, but concluded it was not. Sedgwick County’s webpage crashed after the video was posted, making it temporarily inaccessible. But The Wichita Eagle posted screenshots of the encounter and several Wichita area television stations posted clips of some of the approximately two hours of footage, which didn’t include audio. One video shows several officers carrying Lofton into the Sedgwick County Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center while restrained in something called the WRAP, a device...

American actor Steve Buscemi has delivered a very Australian message to celebrate the  New South Wales Fire Brigade Employees' Union.   The Boardwalk Empire star, who worked as a New York firefighter in the '80s before becoming an actor, praised New South Wales firefighters in a video that resurfaced online this week - before showing his solidarity by doing a 'shoey'.  The phrase 'doing a shoey' is an Australian slang term referring to the act of drinking alcohol - usually beer - out of a person's shoe.  Shoeys have become popular among Australian athletes performing on the world stage, with Formula 1 star Danniel Ricciardo recently celebrating his Italian Grand Prix victory by drinking beer out of his own shoe.   RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Steve Buscemi opens up about what he saw at Ground Zero... Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis prevented Suns guard Chris Paul from getting in the face of referee Scott Foster during Game 6 of the NBA Finals. Suns guard Chris Paul has turned engaging with referees into a game all itself. Either way, Portis will keep being an entertaining figure. According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, he spent his pre-draft interview in Brooklyn talking in the third person. That might just be something he does all the time too. Next: Chris Paul and Scott Foster share a moment during Game 6
Ahead of Game 6, Chris Paul and referee Scott Foster shared a moment on the court. Chris Paul has voiced criticism of veteran NBA referee Scott Foster a number of times. Heading into Tuesday’s Game 6, the Phoenix Suns point guard has lost the last dozen playoff games he’s personally played in with Foster as an official. The pair are connected via some controversial calls in the past. In a must-win game from the Suns, it was wise of Paul to start things off in a courteous manner. Keep in mind, he has been the President of the National Basketball Player’s Association (NBPA) since 2013. He’s got some political savvy can handle tense situations like the best of them. Relatives are expected to view over 18 minutes of body-worn camera footage where North Carolina sheriff’s deputies fatally shot a man in his driveway Tuesday afternoon, the Associated Press reported. North Carolina sheriff’s deputies attempting a drug-related search warrant fatally shot Andrew Brown Jr., who was sitting in his car on his driveway on April 21 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, according to the AP. Brown’s family is scheduled to view the additional body-camera footage at 3. p.m. likely followed by a press conference with the family’s lawyer Chantel Cherry-Lassiter. Brown’s family said he was driving away from law enforcement officials while a prosecutor argued his vehicle made “contact” with officials before shots were fired, the AP reported. Judge Jeffery Foster ruled in favor of allowing Brown’s family to see more footage of the incident last Thursday. \Protesters march through the street calling for justice after the death of Andrew Brown Jr. on April 27, 2021 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The Milwaukee Brewers were victims of what has to be one of the worst calls ever made.  If you were looking for the worst call in baseball history, first base umpire Marty Foster just delivered. In Wednesday game between the Brewers and Marlins, umpire Marty Foster called pitcher Zack Godley for interference after he fielded a grounder by Isan Diaz and tossed it to first base. The interference occurred when — well, there wasn’t any clear interference anywhere to be seen. Diaz was running on infield grass and came close to running into Godley, but that was after the out was already seemingly made. There was a a good ten steps between Diaz and the first base bag when the ball was caught, and both Godley and Vogelbach were getting ready to walk off the field. Somehow seeing it in action is even worse than listening to how ridiculous it sounds. Isan Diaz was literally running on the grass and was out by 10 feet. Unbelievably horrible call. #UmpShow pic.twitter.com/LDEQJ5rDeI — Sam Kuffel (@SamKuffelWx) April 28, 2021 Calling this the...
Reuters April 28, 2021 0 Comments A North Carolina judge on Wednesday rejected requests from media organizations and the local sheriff for the immediate release of videos showing law enforcement’s shooting death of Andrew Brown, Jr., siding with arguments their disclosure could jeopardize ongoing investigations. Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten and roughly 20 media organizations had filed petitions to release officers’ body camera video of the attempted arrest and fatal shooting by sheriff’s deputies last Wednesday, arguing disclosure was in the public interest. Superior Court Judge Jeff Foster said he was delaying the release of the videos sought by Wooten for 30 to 45 days “to allow completion of any investigation being undertaken” by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and local district attorney. Foster ordered the state to notify the court when its investigation is completed and said he would reconsider Wooten’s request to release the videos “based on the factors as they exist at that time.” Foster did rule, however, that four body camera videos of the incident could be disclosed within 10 days to Brown’s son,...
A North Carolina judge on Wednesday ruled agains the release of police body camera footage in the killing of Andrew Brown Jr. Superior Court Judge Jeff Foster said that there was “compelling public interest” in the video, but that the media was not entitled to see it and that its release “would create a serious threat to the fair impartial and orderly administration of justice.” Foster also ruled that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation would have 30-45 days to complete its investigation, at which point he would consider a public release of the footage. The judge did rule that Brown’s son Khalil Ferebee, other members of Brown's immediate family and one attorney for the family would be able to see the entirety of the footage within 10 days.  But Foster gave the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office discretion to blur out faces and any other identifying information of the officers involved as needed. Brown was shot and killed in Elizabeth City, N.C., by deputies from the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office last Wednesday, just a day after a Minneapolis jury found...

An Oklahoma boy who has been in foster care for six years has been inundated with thousands of adoption requests after issuing a heartbreaking video plea, insisting he ‘just wants a mom and dad’. If he was granted three wishes, nine-year-old Jordan, who has been in the state’s Department of Human Services' care since 2014, says he’d ask for ‘Family. Family. Family – that’s the only wishes I have’. But the young boy’s dream seems set to become a reality after more than 5,000 people inquired about adopting him, 12 hours after he issued an emotional plea for a sense of normalcy and the unconditional love of a parent during a local news segment last week. Jordan, who lives in a group home, spoke candidly to KFOR about how his younger brother Braison was adopted last year and how now he too hopes for a ‘mom and dad. Or just a mom. Or just a dad – I don’t really care.’ ‘The reason it’s important is because so I could have some people to talk to anytime I need to,’...
A teenager in Manchester, New Hampshire, is using her senior project to let kids in foster care know they are loved. “I began small, I said I just want to make 15 packages, and then it grew bigger and I said, ‘Oh, I can do 30,’ and then I hit 60 and then 100,” 18-year-old Hailey Dearborn said of the care packages she made for the children in her area. The boxes consisted of a pillow, pillowcase, and a new or gently used children’s book to be delivered to foster kids across New Hampshire, according to KSBW. Thanks to donations, Hailey was able to assemble packages for about 215 children. “I think something new to a child is so important and if I can do something as simple as giving them a new pillow and a book to read at night, it’s so easy. I think everyone can do that,” she said. The kindhearted teenager recently donated 30 pillows and pillowcases to Manchester’s Webster House, and said the rest would go to kids and youth officials for distribution throughout the...
The owners of a California restaurant and bar learned the consequences of racism the hard way after going viral for harassing a nearby fruit vendor, prompting people to flood their Yelp page with negative reviews. Hide Mike Foster and Renee McAlonis, the co-owners of Bergie’s Bar and Grill in Santa Clarita, accused the owner of La Palma Fresh Fruit of operating illegally earlier this week and demanded he move his stand. Hide When the owner—who told local news station KHTS he wished not to be named for safety purposes—protested and told Foster that his stand was “not hurting anyone,” Foster angrily told him to “get it the f*ck out of here.” He also said he called the police and sat down next to the stand to wait for their arrival. “We aren’t the f*cking ghetto,” Foster added. When asked what exactly about the fruit stand was “ghetto,” Foster stammered before demanding the vendor show proof that he was allowed to operate.   Hide “Where’s your health permit? Where’s your resale permit? Prove you pay taxes,” Foster said.  Hide Additionally, the vendor’s...
