Congress is jamming through ANOTHER massive spending bill that its members haven't had time to read. \n\nMore from Rep Roy:pic.twitter.com/WNFEXzAU02 — Rep. Chip Roy Press Office (@Rep. Chip Roy Press Office) 1652227170 Roy concluded his speech by moving for an adjournment, which did not happen. Democrats, instead, charged that approving the aid package was necessary to demonstrate American solidarity with Ukraine. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi even appeared to quote the Bible when she argued for the necessity of the aid package. Ultimately, the House passed the aid package by a vote of 368 to 57. Only Republican lawmakers voted against the package. The Senate is expected to vote on the bill later this week. If it passes, that means Congress will have approved more than $50 billion in aid for Ukraine since Russia's invasion nearly three months ago. In March, Congress approved a $13.6 billion aid package.

Few coolers have a legendary reputation like the Yeti. Yeti’s premium coolers are known for their thickness, outstanding durability, and next-level insulation that can keep ice and other goods frozen for days. But that level of convenience and performance comes at a cost (literally)—regular-sized Yeti coolers will set you back anywhere from $300 to $800 a pop. While there’s no doubt that Yeti’s supreme quality and rugged design makes them worth the lofty price tag, that’s still a lot of money to shell out for the ability to crack open a really cold one on the beach. Don’t feel like opening your wallet that much for a cooler? We totally understand. Fortunately, there are plenty of high-quality Yeti cooler dupes out there right now, and some are so good that you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference. These coolers feature the same luxury features and designs that you’d get with a Yeti cooler, including powerful insulation, rubber gaskets to seal out warm air, and the ability to keep your must-haves frigid for days—just at a much lower cost. Of course,...

EVERTON fans appear to have set off fireworks outside of Chelsea's team hotel ahead of today's crunch clash between the sides at Goodison Park. Easy Money Sniper? More like Easy Money Under. For the second consecutive time following consecutive poor performances from superstar scorer Kevin Durant, Nets head coach Steve Nash vowed to make adjustments without revealing what those adjustments entailed. And for a third game in a row, Durant struggled against the physicality, length and creativity of a Celtics’ defense that’s had every answer to the test of KD and swallowed the Nets to take an 3-0 series lead with a 109-103 victory at Barclays Center — an arena that sounded more like Boston’s TD Garden with Celtics fans that flooded the empty seats long before tipoff. It’s become the safe bet since the Celtics put the absolute clamps on Durant in Game 1 of the first-round series against the Nets: Whatever Las Vegas thinks Durant is going to score, the Celtics have made it their life’s mission not to let him get there. Call them the Durant Rules, and former Nets assistant-turned Celtics head coach Ime Udoka has set them. And now it’s about time to break-out the broomsticks. No team has...
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — When a Sacramento driving school shut down without warning or refunds, parents called Kurtis to investigate. Tanya Holland was one of those parents. Last December, she paid A1 Driving School $500 for three, two-hour driving lessons for her son—a state requirement for any new drivers. He got his first lesson in January, but on the day of his second lesson in March, Tanya found out the school had closed. READ MORE: Sacramento Public Teachers, District Work Out Plan For Missed Instructional Time“My heart just sank,” she said. “Because I hadn’t had any contact from them at all to let me know that the business was closing or how they plan to handle this.” Tanya’s not alone. CBS13 found at least a dozen similar complaints filed against the company on its Yelp page and Better Business Bureau profile. The Call Kurtis team dug through business filings with the state and tracked down the former chief executive officer. They told us that the school closed due to a loss of business from the pandemic and ongoing lockdown restrictions over...

Three years ago, Tarshia McCoy finished serving her jail time in D.C. and Maryland for ammunition and marijuana convictions. She tried to find work once she was released, but her criminal record made finding employment a difficult task. “I was basically again shut down. You apply for a job, and then they put you back 10 steps, [then] push you back 10 steps further,” McCoy said. That is until McCoy met Paul Winestock walking through her D.C. neighborhood. He was hiring for his Clean Streets Team. As someone who spent more than two decades in prison for drug convictions, Winestock knew the struggle McCoy was experiencing. “It was a journey for me, so I said, let me take that initial step and open some doors for other individuals,” Winestock said. After his release from prison in 2013, Winestock said he had a vision for how he would change his life for the better. Since then, he has opened several businesses, including a restaurant in Northeast called His & DC and an events space location called Fun It Up. In addition...
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Sunday marked a rare intersection of three major religious holidays: Easter, Passover and Ramadan. Each is marked with is own history, traditions and foods. Ramadan commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Muhammad. READ MORE: Experts Warn Increase In Flight Delays, Cancellations Will Continue Into Summer“It’s just a blessed month,” said Jaylani Hussein, executive director of Minnesota’s Council on American-Islamic Relations. “It’s not hard for us who’ve been fasting. We actually just enjoy everything, not just the not eating part. It’s really about bonding and coming together as a community.” Muslims don’t eat or drink from dawn to sunset during the holy month of Ramadan. Perhaps counterintuitively though, it’s the busiest time of the year for the Holy Land grocery store and restaurant in northeast Minneapolis. “Everyone is like fasting the whole day. They’re just craving stuff, you know, and getting, buying food,” said Saeed Wadi, Holy Land’s general manager. Salah Nur was shopping Sunday. He said Ramadan is a time to reconnect with family and with God. (credit: CBS) READ MORE: MN WEATHER: Cold...

LVIV, Ukraine—While Russia’s President Vladimir Putin desperately casts around for ex-cons, mercenaries and foreign fighters to help with his stalled invasion of Ukraine, his opponents have no problem finding people ready to fight. In Ukraine, fresh waves of volunteers are joining huge lines to stock up on semi-automatic weapons to bolster the forces defending their homeland. In western cities like Lviv, where the war has inflicted minimal casualties compared to eastern cities like Kharkiv, Mariupol and the capital city Kyiv, people have been trying to get their hands on whatever tactical gear they can. Even if the Russian forces break through the current stalemate, there are hundreds of thousands of resistance volunteers waiting for them. Every day outside of Stvol, a defense gear chain store local to Ukraine and based in Odessa, a long line forms for people waiting to buy arms. The windows are shuttered with metal grates and only a few people are allowed in at a time. The line stretches around the block, with people waiting several hours or more. Ukraine is the only country in...

NEW YORK (AP) — Ukraine, which has waged a staunch defense against Russian invasion, says it has pioneered a new source of financial support: People around the world who have donated millions of dollars directly to its war effort via cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin. Since Feb. 26, when Ukrainian officials began tweeting calls for cryptocurrency donations, the Ukrainian government says it has taken in more than $60 million of its $200 million goal as of Wednesday. “Today, crypto is playing a significant role in Ukraine’s defense,” Alex Bornyakov, the country’s deputy minister for digital transformation, wrote on the nation’s donation website. Ukraine has spent about $34 million of the funds received as of last week, converting about 80% to traditional currencies and using the remainder with merchants that already accept cryptocurrencies, Bornyakov said in response to emailed questions. The funds raised in cryptocurrency are a just small part of the overall donations that Ukraine has received. After raising as much as $12 million on March 2, cryptocurrency donations have tapered off although boosters say the unexpected initial surge may inspire...
Got a minute? Watch transgender swimmer Lia Thomas winning the 500-yard women's freestyle at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, in which she beat an Olympic silver medallist into third place. Watch the smooth, constant, steady speed of her stroke, compared to the frantic, flaying of those trying to keep up with her. See that? Roughly four to six years of male puberty, right there. Thomas did not perform as well after that. She finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle, close to two seconds off her personal best. In the 100-yard event, her poorest distance, she came eighth, and was almost a second slower than in qualifying. On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) stated that he thinks China “believes that we need to respect the sovereignty of its own country and of other countries.” And maintained that China’s actions towards Tibet, Hong Kong, and Taiwan don’t contradict his belief China believes in national sovereignty because those are “territorial disputes” that “relate to what they believe is legitimately their country, through either the rights of sea or through the historic relationship between Taiwan and mainland China.” After Cardin said that he hopes China “wants to be on the right side” in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and there will be “consequences and accountability” if China supports Russia, host Jake Tapper asked, “[China] is an oppressive autocracy. They’re currently, according to the U.S. State Department, committing cultural genocide of the Uyghur Muslim minority population. What makes anyone think the Chinese government would care about what side of history they’re on?” Cardin answered, “China does not share our values. We recognize that. Their leadership does not share that, and that’s disappointing. But we would hope that their...

by Bethany Blankley   Americans are seeing the real costs of inflation in their daily lives as they pay record high gas prices, significantly increased grocery costs, and suffer sticker shock at restaurants, hair salons and other places. Restaurants are charging more, with some posting notices on their doors. Increased prices, they say, are necessary to stay open simply to cover their increased costs for cooking oil and other goods. Some restaurants post signs accompanying empty containers to show that while they’re not increasing prices, their portion sizes are smaller. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that prices have increased by 7.9% in the past 12 months, since the start of President Joe Biden’s presidency. But the increased prices don’t take into account the fact that consumers also are paying more for less in another way: shrinkflation. The term points to how less of a product is sold at the same or an inflated cost. Consumer World points to shrinkflation in its Mouse Print report, noting how products “have recently shrunk in size.” By reading the fine print on bags of chips or...
New footage has emerged of Russian tanks driving through a suburb just 13 miles from the centre of Kyiv, two weeks after the invasion of Ukraine began. The video, filmed this morning in the town of Irpin on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital, shows several tanks and over a dozen soldiers slowly trundling through a residential area. Irpin, which lies north-west of Kyiv, has for days been under a constant barrage of Russian shells which have decimated the quiet suburban town and caused many of its residents to flee. The town is located adjacent to Bucha, where an entire convoy of Russian armour was turned to scrap metal last week in a bitter show of resistance from Ukrainian soldiers and members of the territorial defence forces.  Russia's advance through Irpin comes on the same day that a maternity hospital in the besieged southern port city of Mariupol received a direct hit from Russian rockets in Putin's most heinous war crime yet.
