DEAR ABBY: I am a 41-year-old gay man who is living with my boyfriend and parents. Five years ago, I was divorced from someone I was in a relationship with for 10 years and married to for five. Our split was amicable and civil. We still speak occasionally. I recently bought a ring for my boyfriend. We have been dating almost five years (we met soon after my divorce) and I want to get married again. Last time, I was the one asked. This time, I’m doing the proposing, and even asked his parents out of respect. Related Articles Advice | Dear Abby: Am I wrong to bar this snide woman from my house? 6 "This is going downhill fast," I tweeted about the Oscars last night as it slumped into its habitual third hour tedium. Minutes later, my tweet was proven spectacularly wrong, or possibly spectacularly right depending on your viewpoint, as furious Will Smith marched on stage and slapped Chris Rock in the face, before stomping back to his seat and hurling 4-letter abuse at him. 6Piers explains why Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars 6Will Smith hits Rock after the Oscars host made a joke about his wife's hairCredit: Rex 6Smith and wife Jada after the star claimed his Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Richard WilliamsCredit: Getty It was a shocking, stunning moment, without a doubt the ugliest ever seen at the Academy Awards in its 94-year history. In fact, it was the single most outrageous thing I’ve ever witnessed at any awards show, and I was at the BRITS in 1998 when punk rockers Chumbawamba hurled a bucket of iced water over John Prescott, then Britain’s deputy prime minister, as he sat at a table...

"When you're playing, you're in the zone and I never took too much notice of what people were saying. "I kind of just fell into it really when I just left Ipswich. "United were in the Champions League final at Wembley (in 2011) and ITV got in touch asking if I would do a game. (CNN)Sebastian Yatra, the singer who brought legions of moviegoers to tears in Disney's "Encanto" with his rendition of "Dos Oruguitas," wants everyone to know they're not alone in their emotional reaction to the film. "I cried at the beginning of the movie," Yatra told CNN en Español. "To watch a Disney movie about Colombia, that shows different elements that are so specific about my country, the people, the family... knowing that I am part of that, I started crying like a little child." "Dos Oruguitas," written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and nominated for an Oscar, is the Spanish-language song that sets the tone for the movie's most poignant scene: Abuela Alma's (María Cecilia Botero) heartbreaking flashback to her life with Abuelo Pedro. In the film, which features both English and Spanish, the song is played in full in Spanish, with no subtitles. The tune is also played in Spanish in international versions of the film, a move that marked a first for Disney. "It is the first time that Disney leaves a song sung in Spanish playing all over the planet....
VLADIMIR Putin has been plotting war plans that could see him invade Ukraine TODAY after a Bond Villain-style meeting with his henchmen. The Russian president has vowed to decide "today" whether to recognise the independence of two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine - a step that would further inflame a tense standoff with the West and Kyiv. 4Putin held a session with his Security Council todayCredit: Reuters 4It's feared the Russian president is on the brink of invading UkraineCredit: AP Putin made the remark at the end of a dramatic session of his Security Council that was broadcast on television after the heads of two self-proclaimed republics in eastern Ukraine appealed to the Kremlin leader to recognise their independence. "A decision will be taken today," Putin said. Should Putin recognise the Russian-controlled territories as independent states - which broke away from Kyiv's control in 2014 - it would scupper the existing peace agreement and possibly trigger fresh sanctions from the West. During the meeting today, the leader's top advisers delivered speeches in favour of the move at an unscheduled Kremlin...

A COVID patient has died after his wife had him transferred to a hospital 1,000 miles away because she wanted alternative treatments used. Anne and Scott Quiner (Courtesy of the Quiner family) Scott Quiner, 55, of Buffalo, Minn., died Saturday morning in an unnamed hospital in Houston, Texas, according to media reports. Quiner’s illness generated news stories nationwide after his wife, Anne Quiner, fought plans by his doctors at a Minnesota hospital to remove a ventilator. The story was picked up by conservative news outlets, which said the hospital deliberately mistreated Quiner to punish him for being unvaccinated. Quiner tested positive for COVID in October. He was admitted to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minn., where he was put on a ventilator Nov. 6 and transferred to intensive care. She said that Mercy Hospital intended to remove the ventilator on Jan. 13, and said that the hospital was not exploring alternative treatments for COVID. According to the website Red Voice Media, “Anne begged them to try other methods, such as Ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine and increasing vitamins and doctors there refused.” Those methods...
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The former Afghan government’s ambassador to the United Nations has resigned after the country’s current Taliban rulers sought to replace him with their own envoy. Ghulam Isaczai told the U.N. on Thursday that he stepped down the day before, U.N. spokesperson Farhan Haq said. Afghanistan’s U.N. Mission tweeted that another diplomat, Naseer Faiq, would lead it as a chargé d’affaires. The term can denote someone filling in between ambassadors. The mission said it would continue working “to share the concerns and legitimate demands of our fellow citizens at the U.N.” Taliban leaders, however, have been trying to put their own representative, Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, in their country’s seat at the U.N. Isaczai, a longtime U.N. diplomat, was appointed last June by President Ashraf Ghani, whose government was ousted by the Taliban on Aug. 15 amid a chaotic withdrawal of U.S. and NATO troops. The Taliban challenged Isaczai’s credentials to remain in his post. The U.N. General Assembly delayed action on the request Dec. 6, so he stayed in the job. ...

Thomas Sharkey, the embattled husband of Texas social media influencer Alexis Sharkey, fatally shot himself as law enforcement agents moved in to arrest him in connection with the woman’s murder, authorities announced.  Houston Police officials say they obtained evidence that led them to believe Thomas Sharkey killed his wife on the night of Nov. 27, amid marital tension and a history of domestic abuse. The 26-year-old woman’s naked body was discovered in the bushes along a Houston roadway the next morning. Further investigation determined she had been strangled to death, officials said at the time.  "The investigation determined that Thomas Sharkey, her husband, is the only person who had the means, motive, and opportunity to have committed the murder. We were able to eliminate other suspects that came up, some of which were brought up by Mr. Sharkey," Houston Police Department Homicide Detective Michael Burrow said during a Wednesday news briefing. "There was also clear evidence that Thomas Sharkey had not been truthful about some key issues, and statements that he made to police."  HUSBAND OF POPULAR INFLUENCER ALEXIS SHARKEY FOUND DEAD...

Former Bachelorette Clare Crawley said she was sexually abused by a Catholic priest when she was in first grade. Crawley also said that when her parents found out, they sued the Catholic Church, who then moved the priest to another church, where he abused other children. In a Red Table Talk Facebook video that aired on Thursday, Crawley told host Gloria Estefan, “I believe I was right around 5 or 6 years old — when I was in first grade. I grew up going to a Catholic school when I was a victim of a predator.” She said her parents sent her to the priest for counseling due to her being “painfully shy” to the extent that she would “pee [her] pants instead of ask to go to the restroom.” “I don’t think there was any counseling that was done,” Crawley said. “It was one-on-one time to be a predator.” Crawley said she initially didn’t tell her parents “because this was somebody you respected.” “They can no wrong,” she said. “This was when you didn’t hear about sexual abuse in...
