White House communications director Kate Bedingfield on Friday was reluctant to describe the current baby formula shortage across the country as a “crisis.” Bedingfield said she did not think it was “about a label” and stressed the importance of fixing the shortage. CNN “At This Hour” host Kate Bolduan asked, “Kate, at this point, do you, does the White House consider this a crisis?” “Well, I don’t think it’s about a label,” Bedingfield replied. “I think it is about addressing directly the need that families all across the country have. Listen, I’m a mom. I have two young kids. I’m not terribly far removed from the days of feeding my kids with formula. I know, and we know, and the president knows how stressful this is for families across the country. It’s why he’s taken action.” “Of course, you said if it’s for one family, Kate, it’s going to be a crisis. But … is there a hesitation against calling this a crisis if that’s what it is?” Bolduan followed up. “I can tell you there is no hesitation against...
Yesterday, interviewer and controversy junkie Piers Morgan released a deceptively edited clip on social media appearing to show a contentious end to an interview between himself and former President Donald Trump. The clip released by Morgan’s team appeared to show Trump getting angry and storming out mid-interview, likely a ploy to increase ratings for Morgan’s new show, Piers Morgan Uncensored.  NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 10: Donald Trump (L) and Piers Morgan celebrate Kim Kardashian’s appearance on “The Apprentice” at Provacateur on November 10, 2010 in New York, New York. (Photo by John W. Ferguson/Getty Images) While Morgan may be uncensored, it appears clips from his show are not — or, at least, they are deceptively edited to mislead viewers. Audio provided to Breitbart News from Donald Trump’s team shows there was no contentious end to the interview, and that the former President did not storm out before it was concluded. NBC News obtained the same audio, corroborating Breitbart News’ story. Former president Donald Trump walked out on an interview with Piers Morgan after the British broadcaster challenged him about his false...
The Courtauld Gallery has been criticised for introducing a 'woke' new label on a Manet masterpiece that warns viewers of the 'unsettling' presence of a man.   The London gallery, which holds the UK's most prestigious collection of Impressionist paintings, reviewed its labelling as part of a £57million refurbishment.  Édouard Manet's 1882 work A Bar at the Folies-Bergère is one of the paintings that has received a new label.  The work depicts a barmaid at the famous Parisian cabaret club staring at the viewer and a male customer who can be seen in a mirrored image behind her.  The new information panel both in the gallery and online states that the female subject's 'enigmatic expression is unsettling, especially as she appears to be interacting with a male customer'.  Speaking to The Telegraph, art historian Ruth Millington branded the interpretation a 'woke attempt to call out misogyny' which 'unwittingly centres the male gaze' by shifting the viewer's attention to the man. Another painting that bears a new label is Paul Gauguin's 1897 work Nevermore. The updated panel says that the painting depicts 'one...
Staff for U.S. Representative Jim Cooper (D-TN-05) would not say Friday whether the congressman agrees with National Archives bureaucrats who believe the U.S. Constitution should have a “warning label” due to “harmful content.” Members of Cooper’s staff did not return two requests for comment before Friday’s stated deadline. Cooper did not mention the issue in his weekly emailed newsletter to his constituents Friday. The National Archives has placed warning labels on its digital display of America’s founding documents, including the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, warning they may contain “harmful language” that could offend viewers’ senses. The labels come amidst a larger battle over political correctness inside the government’s main historical preservation agency, where new documents surfaced this week showing that about 800 National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) employees from across the country attended a town hall meeting of the Archives’ Task Force on Racism on May 11 and discussed deleting the “charters of freedom” descriptors for the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration. The...
Their banishment to fashion Siberia could not have been more complete and final. And it was superstar Elton John delivering the killer blow: ‘Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce & Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana,’ he wrote. The reason for his outrage?  Elton has two children via a surrogate with his husband David Furnish, and in 2015 designer Domenico Dolce described children born through IVF as ‘synthetic’, adding that they ‘oppose gay adoption’ and that IVF pregnancies were ‘chemical offsprings and rented uterus’. Madonna and Victoria Beckham were among other celebrities to condemn the comments.  Surely, it was all over for the fashion brand? It was impossible to think back then that just six, short years later, it would be as if those poisonous, destructive words had never been uttered.  From the acres of coverage given to Kitty Spencer’s Dolce & Gabbana wedding wardrobe, when she wore five of their gowns, to the Venetian fashion show extravaganza this week featuring an array of A-Listers including Jennifer Lopez and...

CNN documentary journalist Lisa Ling publicly called out Georgia police officials for their reluctance to label the triple mass shootings around Atlanta as a hate crimes, because of what the alleged killer told them about his motive. During an appearance on OutFronton Wednesday night, Ling, who hosts the documentary show This Is Life, spoke with host Erin Burnett about her outrage over the refusal to officially recognize that the suspect clearly targeted women and Asian-Americans. In a widely-panned press conference earlier in the day, Georgia police officials said the alleged killer had a “bad day,” and said they hadn’t yet ascertained if the attacks were racially motivated, since the suspect had told them he targeted his victims because of his “sexual addiction.” “When you spoke with us earlier,” Burnett noted to Ling, “you said you didn’t sleep all night after learning of the shooting, that these attacks are all consuming for you right now. Tell me about it.” “Well Erin, when it seems like its open season on people who look like me, who look like my parents, who look like children, my children, it’s really...
By Elizabeth Culliford (Reuters) - Facebook Inc, which has been criticized by lawmakers and researchers for allowing vaccine misinformation to spread on its platforms, said on Monday it has started adding labels to posts that discuss the safety of the shots and will soon label all posts about the vaccines. The social media company said in a blog post it is also launching a tool in the United States to give people information about where to get COVID-19 vaccines and adding a COVID-19 information area to its photo-sharing site Instagram. False claims and conspiracies about the coronavirus vaccines have proliferated on social media platforms during the pandemic. Facebook and Instagram, which recently tightened their policies after long taking a hands-off approach to vaccine misinformation, remain home to large accounts, pages and groups that promote false claims about the shots and can be easily found through keyword searches. Facebook's Chief Product Officer Chris Cox said in an interview that the company had taken viral false claims "very seriously" but said there was "a huge gray area of people who have concerns...some...
Twitter announced Monday that it will begin applying labels to tweets that include misleading information about COVID-19 vaccines and is introducing a strike policy to curb users from repeatedly violating those rules. In an effort to root out misinformation surrounding the coronavirus from its platform, Twitter said the labels will first be applied by human moderators. But the goal is to eventually use both humans and artificial intelligence to address content that spreads COVID-19 vaccine misinformation. "As health authorities deepen their understanding of COVID-19 and vaccination programs around the world, we will continue to amplify the most current, up-to-date, and authoritative information," Twitter said in a blog post. The company will start with English-language content and plans to expand to other languages over time. Twitter In December, Twitter announced that it may require users to remove tweets that advance harmful, false, or misleading narratives about vaccines, including suggestions that immunizations and vaccines are used to intentionally control citizens. On Monday, Twitter said that since introducing its COVID-19 guidance in March 2020, it has removed 8,400 tweets for violating policy. In...
Twitter has introduced new rules to prevent the spread of misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccines. Under the new policy, the company will label tweets with “misleading” information and ban accounts that repeatedly break the rules. Twitter had “harmful” misinformation about the vaccines, such as claims that the vaccines are harmful or unnecessary. Under the new rules, Twitter will add prominent labels to tweets with “misleading information.” There will also be stricter penalties for accounts that repeatedly share such claims. The new labels look similar to the ones Twitter used around . “This tweet is misleading,” it says. “Find out why health officials consider COVID-19 vaccines safe for most people.” Other users will also be prevented from retweeting the labeled tweets, though Twitter will allow quote tweets. The labels may link to Twitter Moments with “official public health information.” The company is also introducing a new that will allow it to punish repeat offenders. After the first strike, users will face temporary suspensions for sharing vaccine misinformation. A fifth strike will result in a permanent ban. “Through the use of...

TikTok will start displaying warnings on videos that contain questionable information that couldn’t be verified by fact-checkers, and it’ll begin warning users when they go to re-share those videos that the information hasn’t been confirmed. The app will now display a warning label on these videos that reads, “Caution: Video flagged for unverified content.” This means a fact-checker looked at the content but wasn’t able to certify that it was right or wrong. TikTok has already been reducing the spread of some unverified videos, but they weren’t publicly flagged before today. Creators will now get a message when a warning label is added to their video, and those videos will all have their distribution reduced. Image: TikTok Viewers will also be warned when they go to re-share a video that has a warning label on it. After clicking the share button, which lets you post a video outside the app, a pop-up will ask if you’re “sure you want to share this video?” You can still share the video if you...

Former porn star Jenna Jameson has revealed that she dumped accused abuser Marilyn Manson because he bit her during sex — and fantasized about burning her alive. Jameson, 46, told DailyMail.com about her “odd” fling in 1997 with the shock rocker who was dropped by his record label Monday among a slew of exes accusing him of years of abuse. “We didn’t go out long because I cut it off after he would nonchalantly say he fantasized about burning me alive,” she told the outlet. “Once he started speaking to me violently, I was like… goodbye, Brian,” she said, using the 52-year-old rocker’s real name, Brian Warner. “Also the bruises from him biting me weren’t fun,” she said, saying that, “Sexually he liked to bite, and it was disconcerting.” “He is a lot. To say the least,” she told the Mail. Marilyn Manson and Jenna Jameson seen together in 1997.
