HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Republican US Senate primary in Pennsylvania between Oz and McCormick is too close to call, likely headed for recount. Copyright © 2022 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, written or redistributed.
Dr. Mehmet Oz was asked about his position on marijuana and appeared to believe making it legal means everyone in the state of Pennsylvania would be given the drug, which would force workers to “stay home.” Oz, endorsed by Donald Trump in the race for a seat in the U.S. Senate for Pennsylvania, is in an extremely tight primary race against Republican Dave McCormick. The “celebrity doctor” is barely ahead currently, as ballots from Tuesday’s vote are still being counted. The winner will face Democrat John Fetterman, currently Pennsylvania’s Lt. Governor. Fetterman has won statewide in Pennsylvania,” Newsmax’s Greg Kelly told Oz. “He wants to legalize marijuana I believe." "What is your stance on that by the way?” Kelly asked Oz. “You know there are not enough Pennsylvanians to work in Pennsylvania,” Oz responded, twisting the question into a labor shortage issue. "So giving them pot so they stay home is not an ideal move,” he said, as if making it legal would endanger the economy of the state. “I also don’t want to breed addiction to marijuana,” he added....
What a team, huh? In case 2020 didn’t make it clear enough, the 2022 Republican primaries are proof: Any election result that doesn’t go the MAGA way is fraud! Even when all the voters are Republicans. Take Pennsylvania, where the count for the Senate nomination is tightening with every ballot counted. Trump’s favorite, snake-oil salesman Mehmet Oz, is seeing his lead over Dave McCormick shrink.  xMcCormick is inching closer to Oz as more votes trickle in in #PASen, and Trump is not happy about it. He's still sowing doubt about the count, which is proceeding as per state law. pic.twitter.com/UaE6aYHQ4D— Henry J. Gomez (@HenryJGomez) May 19, 2022 Trump has been pushing Oz to declare victory before the rest of the ballots are counted, obviously not caring at all that it’s Republican voters he wants to disenfranchise. “Dr. Oz should declare victory,” Trump said Wednesday, echoing his own 2020 strategy when he said, “Frankly, we did win this election” even as ballots were still being counted.  It’s a grievance that Trump hasn’t let go of, a key part of the Big Lie. “It was 10 o’clock [on election night], and...

Millersville, Pennsylvania (CNN)A win for John Fetterman in Pennsylvania on Tuesday would be a win for the unconventional candidate.Scores of Fetterman supporters across the commonwealth were drawn to the candidate because of his uniqueness. They loved that he looked miserable at a White House event, has people not-entirely-jokingly guessing whether he owns a suit and literally stands out of a crowd with his 6-foot, 8-inch frame. His stances drew them in, too, from legal marijuana to climate justice to his focus on "forgotten areas" throughout Pennsylvania. But with Fetterman on the precipice of winning the Democratic Senate primary -- polls show the lieutenant governor up around 30 percentage points over Rep. Conor Lamb and state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta -- many of those same supporters have a dilemma: Is the lieutenant governor too unique for a broader electorate? It is not an uncommon question among both the Fetterman faithful and even some Republicans drawn to his persona. His supporters still love him."Very few politicians feel like that they are going to go to war for you," said Andrew Charles, who attended a recent...

John Fetterman, the Democratic frontrunner, says his recent stroke won’t slow down his campaign plans. Meanwhile, his Republican opponents are making their case that they are the best ones to beat him. “It was on Friday. I just wasn’t feeling very well,” Fetterman said. Over the weekend, Pennsylvania’s Lieutenant governor and the Democratic frontrunner in the state’s Senate race announced he went to the hospital after suffering a stroke. Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman, the leading candidate in his state's Senate Democratic primary, announced on Sunday afternoon that he had suffered a stroke. The progressive populist is running a highly-publicized race against moderate Democratic House Rep. Conor Lamb, with voters heading to the polls just days from now on May 17. 'On Friday, I wasn’t feeling well, so I went to the hospital to get checked out. I didn’t want to go – I didn’t think I had to – but [his wife Gisele Fetterman] insisted, and as usual, she was right,' Fetterman said in an official campaign statement. 'I hadn't been feeling well, but was so focused on the campaign that I ignored the signs and just kept going. On Friday it finally caught up with me.' The state official found out he had suffered a stroke caused by a blood clot from his heart. Doctors completely removed it and were able to reverse the stroke, he said. 'The good news is I'm feeling much better, and the doctors tell me I didn't suffer any cognitive damage. I'm well on...

A prominent longtime supporter of former President Donald Trump is blasting him for treating loyalty as a one-way street. In a scorching rant following Trump’s endorsement of Doug Mastriano in the Pennsylvania governor’s race, former Pennsylvania congressman Tom Marino buried the ex-president for backing Mastriano rather than former Rep. Lou Barletta — who was one of his earliest supporters in Congress. Back in 2016, the Washington Post cited both Marino and Barletta as two of the people Trump trusted most in Congress, and noted the importance of their support in Trump’s securing the GOP nomination at a time when very few elected officials were supporting his candidacy. “Trump insiders say both men’s endorsements were crucial in helping Trump win Pennsylvania in April,” the Post’s Amber Phillips wrote. “That night, you’ll recall, was Trump’s five-state sweep in the Northeastern primary and seemingly the beginning of the end of the Republican nominating contests.” But their reward for that in 2022 is nothing, and Marino isn’t happy about it. James Bond movie director Cary Fukunaga has been accused of sexual harassment and 'grooming' by three young actresses. The 44-year-old, who directed Daniel Craig's final outing as 007 in No Time to Die, allegedly left one woman so traumatised that she was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The allegations come after Mr Fukunaga posted a story on his Instagram page declaring his support for women's rights in light of a leaked document revealing that the US Supreme Court is about to overturn Roe v Wade, a ruling which legalised abortion in America. He wrote: 'The Supreme Court is about to push us one step closer to war with ourselves... by legitimizing a war against women's rights.' Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders was snapped ditching his socialist principals to fly first class to campaign for a woke Democrat state representative candidate.   Sanders was spotted on an American Airlines flight to Pittsburgh Friday to stump for State Representative Summer Lee, running for an open seat in Pennsylvania's 18th District.  Sanders, wearing a mask, appears to head for the front of the plane in the photos obtained by Fox News from a fellow first class traveler. He was also snapped by an excited Twitter user in the same row, although its unclear if Sanders availed himself of the free booze and food offered to first class fliers.  Lee has the endorsement of Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and 'squad' progressives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman and Ayanna Pressley, as well as Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal.  She defeated an incumbent Democrat in 2018 with the endorsement of her local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America and is the first black woman to represent southwestern Pennsylvania in the state legislature. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Pennsylvania primary is four days away and a key demographic candidates are trying to appeal to across the commonwealth is Black voters. CBS3 and our sister station KDKA in Pittsburgh worked together to learn about the most important issues that will determine their vote and the efforts that are underway to get them to the polls. “All the elections are important,” Pastor Robert Collier of the Black Clergy of Philadelphia said, “but this election is important for all people, especially the left out and the left-back.” READ MORE: Mural Honoring Victims Of Tragic Kensington Fire Unveiled At Stetson Charter SchoolVOTER GUIDE: Pennsylvania Primary Election 2022 Leaders of local Black churches in the Philadelphia region are imploring voters, especially those in underserved communities, not to wait until November to head to the ballot box. This Tuesday, May 17, two major GOP primary elections will be held in Pennsylvania: one for governor, one for the U.S. Senate seat presently held by conservative Republican Sen. Pat Toomey, who isn’t seeking reelection. And in the Senate primary, an unexpected development has been the last-minute surge of far-right candidate Kathy Barnette — who, according to polls, is now within striking distance of the frontrunner, Dr. Mehmet Oz. Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Oz, who, in the past, was a moderate conservative along the lines of the late Sen. John McCain and former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge but is now jumping through hoops to show how MAGA he is — including railing against Dr. Anthony Fauci in his buffoonish ads. Barnette, however, is claiming that Oz is really a liberal in disguise and that she is the true MAGA Republican in the primary. And that messaging may be working with Republican primary voters; a Fox News poll released on Tuesday, May 10 found Oz only 3% ahead of Barnette and 2% ahead of candidate David McCormick. As ultra-MAGA...
Mehmet Oz accused former Trump administration Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of “bigotry” Wednesday for raising questions about his dual U.S./Turkish citizenship. Oz is a Republican running for the Senate in Pennsylvania with the endorsement of former President Donald Trump. The former TV doctor was raised in the U.S., but his parents immigrated from Turkey. As a result, Oz was born with dual citizenship. That citizenship has become an issue in Oz’s campaign. Pompeo was among the doctor’s high-profile conservative critics last week. “Maybe it’s all innocent, maybe it’s all straight up, but we and the people of Pennsylvania and the Americans who he will be representing as one of 100 members of the US Senate voting on important national security matters need to understand the scope and depth of his relationship with the Turkish government,” Pompeo stated. Citing the potential Oz receives a high-level security clearance, Pompeo added even people such as contractors routinely take polygraph tests for such clearances. On Newsmax TV’s The Balance Wednesday, host Eric Bolling asked Oz about the former State Department head’s statements. Oz called the comments...
