YOUR email address may be at risk for more than you bargained for when you sign up or log into a new website. When a new user gives a website their email address, they are not only agreeing to spammy newsletters but also to put their email up for sale to third-party buyers -- often advertisers who will track your activity.  2Protect your email address from hackersCredit: Getty Thankfully, there are privacy-loving people out there who have developed apps that can help you protect your email address from the companies desperate to get their hands on it. Currently, there are two ways to help you keep your real email address more private, depending on the situation.  EMAIL RELAY SERVICES Email relay services work by generating a “virtual” email address that you can use when signing up for apps and websites, thus protecting your real one. If you choose to, you can also get the emails from your virtual account forwarded to your real inbox.  Many relay services also allow you to create multiple pseudo email addresses, making it even more...

ZELLE users are being warned that cybercriminals are trying to steal their cash. If you're a user of the US-based digital payments network, here's how to protect yourself immediately. 1If you're a user of Zelle, you could be a victim of scammersCredit: Getty Information Security Buzz warned this week that Zelle scams are heightening throughout the holiday season and the peer-to-peer money transfer app is not protected by Regulation E, part of the federal Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA). According to the Federal Reserve, EFTA of 1978 is "intended to protectindividual consumers engaging in electronic fund transfers (EFTs) and remittance transfers." However, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau advised this summer that Regulation E is unable to help a consumer who sends money to a fraudulent account, ISBuzz explains. The Act can only help a consumer "if a third party fraudulently induces a consumer into sharing account access information.” A woman in Texas lost more than $500 after sending money through Zelle for a PlayStation 5 she was buying for her husband, KWTX reported. Zelle allows users to send money to another...

Most of us operate at 50 per cent of our mental capacity. It's like having a high-performance Ferrari and just using it to nip to the shops once in a while. Having spent the past 25 years practising as a neurosurgeon, there is not much I don't know about the workings of the brain, and I am convinced the exquisitely designed organ can crank out a lot more power. If you don't hit the open road occasionally and open the throttle, it could be all too easy to forget what your brain is really capable of achieving. All this week, the Daily Mail has been serialising my new book, Keep Sharp, which sets out a blueprint for optimising mental capacity and protecting yourself against dementia. Today, my focus is on sleep and relaxation because I believe it is possible to harness both to help switch the brain into hyperdrive status, and I'm going to show you how.
