    ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) — An Adams County deputy drove his deputy patrol car into the path of a wrong-way vehicle to stop it from hitting others on Interstate 70 late Monday, Adams County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media. No one was hurt in the crash. Colorado State Patrol had made the request of the sheriff’s office to respond to the wrong-way driver on the eastbound I-70 stretch near mile marker 328. The sheriff’s office confirmed with CBS4 the driver was an older man who had made it onto eastbound I-70 traveling in the wrong direction. A responding deputy was able to stop the wrong-way driver in the area of mile marker 310 when he put himself and his vehicle in harms on I-70, allowing himself to be struck so the other vehicles would not be hit. CBS4 partner KKTV reported the resident of the home said her broken dialysis machine was inside, which cost more than $17,000. The news station was told the family was waiting for the package to be picked up since it had malfunctioned. The package reportedly weighed about 50 pounds.     Police are seeking the public’s help identifying the suspect vehicle in the theft of a safe containing $30,000 to $40,000 cash from a North Jersey gas station earlier this week. The burglary occurred at the Morris Plains Liberty Gas & Convenience store at 1799 Rt. 10 East between 3:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday, Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon said. Officers responding to the burglary confirmed the theft of the safe, which also contained blank business checks. A second safe from inside the store had been moved to the back exit but was not taken, Gannon said. Surveillance footage shows the suspect vehicle — pictured above — at the store at 3:30 a.m. and leaving with the proceeds, authorities said. The vehicle is believed to have traveled east on Route 10 before turning right onto South Jefferson Road in Hanover Township.     A Pennsylvania armored car company that transports proceeds from licensed cannabis businesses to banks alleges in a lawsuit that San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies confiscated more than $1 million in cash deposits within the past two months during a pair of illegal roadside seizures. “This is nothing but highway robbery using badges,” said Dan Alban, a senior attorney for the Institute for Justice, a Virginia-based law firm representing Empyreal Logistics. “Empyreal is transporting proceeds from legal businesses to financial institutions. These seizures don’t stop crime or improve public safety; they just enrich these agencies, which get to split the proceeds from civil forfeiture. “These funds are only being seized because of that profit incentive. And that’s not remotely legal or constitutional.” The lawsuit, filed last week in U.S. District Court, names as defendants San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon D. Dicus, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Christopher Wray and Anne Milgram, administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Hutchinson is facing misdemeanor DWI charges in connection to a rollover crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 94 in central Minnesota. According to investigators, the sheriff’s blood alcohol content was .13, as determined by a urine sample. Hutchinson is also charged with carrying a pistol under the influence of alcohol. On Thursday, a motorist in Kentucky called 911 to report seeing a girl in distress in a vehicle on the interstate. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazer says the body was recovered from the vehicle Friday afternoon in the town of St. Hedwig on the outskirts of San Antonio. Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said the theft occurred Saturday, July 10, at 6 p.m., in the 15000-Block of State Highway 377, in Fort Worth at the Wabash RV & Boat Storage facility.     Legendary golfer Tiger Woods was reportedly not impaired at the time he flipped his vehicle in a single-car crash, after the local authorities were unable to find evidence on-scene. Woods, 45, was involved in a single-car accident on Tuesday morning after he hit the median, crossed multiple lanes of traffic, before hitting the curb, a tree, and ultimately flipping the vehicle multiple times, according to county Sheriff Alex Villanueva. A manhunt is underway for Leon Taylor, who on Monday escaped from the back seat of a dark-colored SUV that had stopped at the fast-food eatery in Gary while he was extradited to a local jail in Indiana from Texas. Authorities released more than a minute of footage on Tuesday that appears to show Taylor open the door and exit the vehicle at roughly 2:10 p.m. Monday. After getting out of the car, he appears to be wrestling with something on his leg, which police identified as a brace, before running off. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a home near Monte Vista Drive and Montewood Drive shortly after 7:50 a.m. after a resident reported a suspicious vehicle in a driveway and a woman wandering around their backyard. Deputies said they attempted to approach the woman, but she ran to her vehicle and rammed a patrol car. She then led authorities on a chase from Saratoga to Fremont, more than 20 miles away.     ESCALANTE, Utah (AP) — A man who died in an estimated 400-foot fall from Willow Gulch in the Escalante Arm of Lake Powell in Utah last month has been identified, authorities said Tuesday. Kane County Sheriff’s officials said the victim was 49-year-old Cory James Christensen and his last known address was Flagstaff, Arizona. They said information and keys found inside the backpack Christensen he was wearing when he fell on Oct. 8 led to a search for a vehicle. It was located in a Garfield County parking lot about eight miles south of Escalante and about 35 miles from the location of the fall. Based on conversations investigators had with eyewitnesses elsewhere in his travels, it’s believed Christensen was traveling alone. Sheriff’s officials said bicycle parts were found in Christensen’s backpack and investigators are considering the possibility that he rode an off-road bike from his vehicle to an area near Willow Gulch.
