The Detroit Lions pulled off a tremendous upset on Sunday afternoon at home over the playoff-bound Arizona Cardinals. That won’t help the tank, though. The Lions held the likely No. 1 draft pick in their hands to start the day, with rumors suggesting they’d prefer to select Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux if the selection process took place tomorrow. Yet, there are still games left to play, and Dan Campbell isn’t prone to tanking or giving up in any situation. Now sitting at 2-11-1, the Lions no longer hold the worst record in the NFL. Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw three touchdowns, while Kutztown alum Craig Reynolds led the rushing attack. Reynolds was elevated from the practice squad this past week. 2022 NFL Draft order: What does Lions win mean? The 2021 NFL season has been an odd one, with a multitude of upsets none of us saw coming. Detroit defeating the Cardinals is just another to add to the list. So, what does this mean for the NFL Draft order? With the Texans playing the Jaguars on Sunday, the Lions should only...
The Mike Zimmer era reached a new low for the Minnesota Vikings with the team losing to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.  Minnesota Vikings fans have grown increasingly frustrated with Mike Zimmer and things were just made even worse on Sunday. Heading into the Week 13 matchup with the Detroit Lions, Minnesota was expected to record an impressive win. Instead, the team was embarrassed by the Lions and suffered a 29-27 loss. Jared Goff tossed the game-winning touchdown as time expired. What a thriller. Detroit was 0-10-1 before Sunday’s matchup, so for Minnesota to lose to a winless team is inexcusable and this is of course on the head coach. Minnesota is now 5-7 on the season. Woof.Minnesota Vikings fans are calling for Mike Zimmer to be firedAs soon as the final whistle went off on Sunday following the showdown with Detroit, Vikings supporters made it more than clear they’re sick of Zimmer running the show. This team is looking incredibly average, which shouldn’t be the case. They’ve got star players on both sides of the ball, yet Minnesota is...
Courtesy of Vikings Kene Nwangwu was activated to the Vikings' 53-man roster after suffering a knee injury in the preseason. It has been a rough week for the Minnesota Vikings‘ backfield. First, starting running back Dalvin Cook suffered a torn labrum Sunday, November 28 against the San Francisco 49ers in a game the Vikings went on to lose. The team kept Cook off the injured reserve list (IR), hopeful that he will miss just two games and can return against the Chicago Bears in Week 15. A trip to the IR is a guarantee of at least three contests on the sidelines. Minnesota offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak was confident he could rely on the Vikings’ duo of backup rushers, Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu, when he spoke with media members earlier this week. “There’s some things that we’ll have to change and some little tweaks here and there, but I’ve got full confidence in Alexander, and Kene’s going to get some opportunities,” Kubiak said. “(C.J. Ham) always is ready to go even at halfback. I think earlier in...

Getty Jamaal Williams on the field for Lions vs. Rams in 2021. The Detroit Lions are in search of a bit of momentum as they attempt to turn the corner from their 0-8 start to the season, and they will be forced to go without a few of their key players on offense to get the job done on the road. This week, the Lions will be tasked with competing against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are coming off a short week. Even though they had the bye week to recover, the Lions will be down a pair of key players for the matchup that could hurt them on offense. The latest Lions news straight to your inbox! Getty Taylor Decker hugs David Blough after a 2019 touchdown. The Detroit Lions have been a dinged-up team for the better part of a few weeks, but with a Week 9 bye, things are looking more than a bit better for the team after the midway point. With time away from football, health has come to several members of the Lions roster. Finally, a pair of offensive weapons in tight end T.J. Hockenson and running back D’Andre Swift are off the report. While others remain on, there is only one major case to watch coming out of the bye for Week 10 across the team. Things have not been going well for Jared Goff with the Detroit Lions. In fact, the quarterback has yet to win a game with his new team, which stands at 0-6 entering Sunday’s matchup with his old team, the Los Angeles Rams. (The Lions won’t win that one, either.) DETROIT (AP) — Dan Campbell doesn’t like watching film when he’s angry. That’s why the Detroit Lions coach took some time before attempting to grade his 0-6 team’s performance in Sunday’s 34-11 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. “It took a minute to step away from things and just calm down,” he said Monday. “You can’t let your emotions play into it as you grade the tape. You have to look at it with open eyes and somewhat of a clean slate. “You always need to find the positives and build from those.” Campbell did find some bright spots: He was pleased with the way his young defense contained Joe Burrow and Joe Mixon in the first half. But he also saw a lot of major mistakes the Lions couldn’t overcome. “It’s OK for me to say we’re doing this well and we’re not doing this well, but that’s all irrelevant until we’re able to clean up the missed assignments and penalties,” he said. “That’s just shooting yourself in the foot, which means we don’t have a leg to stand...

DETROIT (AP) — Dan Campbell is going down swinging. The first-year Detroit Lions coach, who is still seeking his first win, has gone for it on fourth down a league-high 10 times, including twice in Sunday’s 24-14 loss to Chicago. Problem is, the Lions didn’t convert either of those fourth-down opportunities, both of which they tried from field-goal range. That continues a trend for Detroit (0-4), which has succeeded on 3 of 10 fourth-down plays, a rate that ranks 25th in the league. Campbell isn’t backing down. “I don’t regret any of them,” he said. The problem, players say, is their execution. They appreciate the coaching staff’s trust in them, but it’s up to them to prove the decision was correct. “I respect coach (for) believing in us to get those fourth-and-ones, third-and-shorts, and I know we can execute,” receiver Quintez Cephus said. “We just have to continue to keep honing in on those small details.” The numbers suggest Detroit’s problems run deeper than a lack of execution. The Lions have gotten largely mediocre play from quarterback Jared Goff, who...
