The answer is crystal clear. For a day of press ahead of the premiere of Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” Kylie Jenner carried a curious-looking accessory: a spherical blown-glass purse adorned with cheeky devil horns and containing nothing but Kylie Cosmetics lip gloss. Created by glassware brand Heven in collaboration with celeb-loved label Coperni, Jenner’s fragile fashion piece debuted on the latter’s fall 2022 runway in March, carried by Gigi Hadid. And the avant-garde item has become a Hollywood must-have in recent weeks, with not one, but two different stars bringing versions to Sunday’s Grammys: Doja Cat clutched an icy blue iteration filled with Werther’s Originals (!), while Tinashe toted the same transparent style in red. Jenner stashed her lip gloss inside...

Armory assembling care packages for area veterans. They started Tuesday and over the course of several days, volunteers with Operation Gratitude made over 4,500 care packages that will be distributed to local veteran organizations like the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Foreign Legion. The CEO and President of Operation Gratitude, retired Air Force Maj. Gen. James Johnson, told WTOP, “We’ve had everyday Americans who’ve shown up here to volunteer.” In those packages, veterans will find snacks, such as fruit roll-ups, coffee and even handmade items from volunteers. “I drew most of the pictures,” said 9-year-old Emerson from Ashburn, Virginia. “I drew some men and women in their uniform and I drew some airplanes and helicopters that they would use.” Emerson said she volunteered Thursday with her family because her father is in the Army. “When I’ve received those care packages, and you see the pictures that are on them....

MEN over 40 are being encouraged by the NHS to take a quiz to see if they are at risk of type 2 diabetes. Around 12.3 million people in the UK are teeting on the brink of a type 2 diabetes diagnosis, according to charity statistics. 2The NHS is encouraging men over 40 years old to take a quiz to see if they are at risk of type 2 diabetes. The tool considers age, ethnicity and weightCredit: Alamy The serious condition, driven by soaring obesity levels, raises the odds of Covid death, heart attacks and strokes among other complications. While age and genetics play a role, two in five type 2 diabetes cases can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. Because there are very little clear signs that someone is on the cusp of a type 2 diabetes diagnosis, and it can develop slowly over time with very few signs, the NHS is urging white men aged over 40 to find out their risk. It will use Facebook adverts to tell them their age already puts them...

New York (CNN Business)Pandemic travel restrictions and shelter-in-place orders have made it difficult to access cultural experiences. But a virtual tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City could help ease some of those stuck-at-home blues. Verizon (VZ) and The Met are launching a platform that lets viewers visit the museum and see many of its famous works of art from home, an experience that can be enhanced through 5G and augmented reality technology. Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg announced the partnership during a keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show on Monday. The tool, called "The Met Unframed," is one way for Verizon to show off some of the uses for 5G — which boasts higher bandwidth, faster speeds and lower lag time than 4G LTE networks. The free platform won't net material returns for Verizon, but it could highlight benefits for customers and businesses if they upgrade. Carriers are eager to demonstrate 5G uses after spending several years and billions of dollars building out the new network.Dishwashing robots and Bluetooth masks: Pandemic products hit techs biggest...

Flaming Crap, a novelty candle company based in England, has launched a new “2020 Scent” candle which is advertised as having four “quintessential aromas” inspired by the increasingly bleak reality of our current calendar year. “With four fragrant layers, this candle takes you on a sensual journey through the year,” reads a product description for the new “2020 Scent” candle, which is formulated to give off aromas of banana bread, hand sanitizer, woody musks, and finally “budget aftershave and earthy essence” — with the last few intended to invoke memories of “Tiger King” Joe Exotic himself. “Many people have mixed feelings about this year, it’s been tough on many levels, but others valued their time in lockdown,” said Oliver Burr, the co-founder of Flaming Crap, in a press release. “Our candle is reminiscent and a reminder of some of this year’s most prominent themes, and a completely unique gift this festive period.” Burr further tells Fox News that the first batch of the 2020 Scent candles has already been sold and shipped. Career transitions are equal parts scary and exhilarating. And if transformation is truly what you desire, then there are few reasons not to take a chance. Life is too short not to do what you love. How do I know? Well, I went through a significant career transition. After spending over a decade working for NASA as an electrical engineer, I received my real estate license. Making the radical move from rocket scientist to real estate professional wasn’t an easy transition. There’s no doubt that guiding astronauts on the International Space Station to repair their equipment in space is a far cry from guiding home buyers and sellers on their real estate journeys. What helped me the most was figuring out how to apply the lessons learned in my first career to my blooming real estate career. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been outspoken about social justice issues since entering the NFL, and used his platform again Thursday. Burrow’s latest tweet came as the NBA, WNBA and MLB postponed games in wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wis., over the weekend. NHL PLAYERS CALL ON LEAGUE TO DO MORE AS NBA, WNBA, MLB POSTPONE GAMES IN WAKE OF JACOB BLAKE SHOOTING “How can you hear the pain Black people are going through and dismiss it as nothing. How can you hear the pain and respond with anything other than ‘I stand with you,’" he tweeted as the NBA players’ decisions to boycott games this week sparked a heated debate across social media. The NBA and NBPA confirmed that all three games were officially postponed. They put out a joint statement saying that games will not be played due to boycotting. "The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association today announced that in light of the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to not take the floor today for Game 5 against the Orlando Magic, today’s three games -- Bucks...
The upcoming role-playing game Alice is Missing promises a totally unique experience. The game, which has players investigate the disappearance of high schooler Alice Briarwood, is played almost entirely in silence and via text message. Designed and written by Spenser Starke and launched as Kickstarter in May by Hunters Entertainment, the project was successful to the tune of more than $138,000. The game will now be published in partnership with Renegade Game Studios. The one-shot game begins with an explanation of the rules, then a brief period where talking is allowed. That’s when players create their characters and figure out their respective relationships with Alice and each other. After that, players can only communicate via text. It’s a novel way of conducting an RPG that seems perfect for socially distanced play. The demand for silence also goes counter to the general desire to chat while playing and RPG, which means players will have to be as effective in their texts as possible. The game is set to come out this December, and is currently available for pre-order for $20 USD....
