Seth Michael Plant, 30, was killed by a brown mother bear protecting her cubs outside Air Force base Elmendorf-Richardson, Anchorage. Commander Lt. Col. David J. Nelson said: '[Plant] always had a smile on his face, he always went above and beyond what was asked of him, and he served as an inspiration to all who had the privilege to know him.' Staff Sgt. by Cole Lauterbach   Arizona is sending thousands of pounds of equipment and supplies to support the Ukrainian military amid Russia’s invasion of the country. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey visited the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs for the official send-off. “Arizona stands with Ukraine. Everyday citizens are risking their lives, fighting for their freedom, and deserve all the assistance we can give them,” Ducey said in a March 31 press release. “These surplus bulletproof vests and armor will help as they defend their country from Vladimir Putin.” The state obtained the equipment through donations from 11 local, county, state and tribal law enforcement agencies. The supplies include 874 bulletproof vests, 77 helmets, miscellaneous tactical clothing, footwear, pads and shields.  The Ukrainian Relief Group will transport the 17 pallets of equipment to Ukraine; it will be delivered in the next two weeks. “Our team coordinated with county and tribal emergency managers to collect law enforcement donations,” Allen Clark, director of the Division of Emergency Management within the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, said in a press...
CHELSEA star Callum Hudson-Odoi admits that playing as a wing-back has made him a better player, but he'd rather be picked further forward. The Blues academy graduate has had to fill a number of different roles since Thomas Tuchel's Stamford Bridge arrival last year. 2Callum Hudson-Odoi has had to be versatile for the BluesCredit: AFP Having come through the ranks as a winger, Hudson-Odoi had to improve the defensive side of his game in order to get minutes as a right wing-back. And while he appreciates the developments this has enabled him to make, the 21-year-old would rather be utilised in a more natural position. He told Chelsea's official website: "I’d definitely say I prefer more-attacking positions for myself, as a winger or a No10 kind of player. "Obviously I like to be direct and try to create scoring opportunities for the team, hopefully try to score some myself. Playing in that position I’m more comfortable and I feel more free while playing there as well. "So it’s definitely a nice position, to know that I can go out there,...
COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said Tuesday that the former Soviet republic has “no plans to attack anyone,” and its gathering of troops is purely defensive amid speculations of a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine as soon as next month. In recent weeks, there has been a massive Russian troop buildup near Ukraine’s border which has prompted fears of a possible invasion in Kyiv and the West. Moscow has denied plans to attack Ukraine and in turn blamed Ukraine’s own military buildup in the east of the country, where Ukrainian forces have been fighting with Russia-backed separatists since 2014. Russian officials alleged that Kyiv might try to reclaim the areas controlled by the rebels by force. Ukrainian officials have denied an intention to do so. “We don’t plan to attack anyone and we don’t plan to invade any other country’s territory,” Reznikov said. “Our defense capacity is important to protect our people, our society, our lives.” He told reporters that war in Ukraine means war in Europe, adding that “there are clear signals from...

Pudleiner said that when he received the message on his phone unexpectedly, it came in as an unsaved number. "Just the challenges after surgery and building that strength back up is the main thing that I’m dealing with right now," Pudleiner added. J.J. Getty Images Jadeveon Clowney of the Cleveland Browns jokes with Myles Garrett. There’s a reason Cleveland Browns defensive ends Jadeveon Clowney and Myles Garrett were No. 1 overall picks — they’re athletic freaks, capable of throwing grown men around like ragdolls. Garrett and Clowney — when healthy – are elite disruptors that show up in nightmares of offensive tackles around the league. While they’re already a tough matchup, sliding either one inside to do battle against guards might create even more of a mismatch. It’s something the Browns are considering implementing next season, with Clowney and Garrett being on the same side of the line. “We love that matchup,” Clowney told reporters on Thursday. “We feel like they’re the unathletic guys. That guard position, they’re not real athletes down there. So they’re just physical and maulers. But we try to get in there and create those matchups for certain guys and hopefully we get some wins. “You’ve got to think different [on the interior]. Everything happens very, very fast down there. Those guys are much bigger down there....
The Cleveland Browns wanted to add some versatility to their defensive line when they signed Jadeveon Clowney during the offseason — and the three-time Pro Bowler says he’s more than ready for the challenge.  Clowney, 28, signed in April a one-year contract with the Browns back where he’ll be paired up with Myles Garrett, occasionally being used as interior pass-rushers. He raised some eyebrows on Thursday when he talked about facing off with offensive guards.  JAKE PAUL THINKS BROTHER LOGAN CAN KNOCK OUT MYLES GARRETT "We love that matchup," he said, via USA Today. ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A 55-year-old Indiana man is recuperating in stable condition Tuesday at a Fairbanks hospital after being mauled by a bear in Denali National Park and Preserve. The man, who has not been identified, was hiking alone Monday evening in Thoroughfare Pass south of the park road when a grizzly with two 1- or 2-year-old cubs attacked him, the park said in a statement Tuesday. There was dense fog in the area, and the bear attacked from about 100 feet (30 meters) away. The man was able to use his bear spray, but only after he was knocked to the ground. The man suffered puncture wounds to his calf, left ribs and left shoulder, the statement said. The bear left quickly after the attack, the park said, and the man was able to walk 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) to the Eielson Visitor Center, which is 66 miles (106 kilometers) from the park entrance. He was taken by a park bus to an ambulance at the park entrance, and medical professionals on board the bus administered first aid....
CRISTIANO RONALDO rolled back the years when he scored the opening goal of Portugal's encounter with Germany. It was Ronaldo's header which launched the attack, with Bernardo Silva carrying the ball upfield. Ronaldo darted through the middle of the pitch with alarming speed, while Silva looked up and spotted Diogo Jota. He picked out the Liverpool star to put him through one-on-one with Manuel Neuer, before squaring to Ronaldo to tap into an empty net. Jota learnt his lesson from the previous match against Hungary, when Ronaldo chastised the winger for shooting instead of passing when...

By Patricia Zengerle and Mike Stone WASHINGTON (Reuters) - After pausing half a billion dollars in arms deals with Saudi Arabia out of concern over casualties in Yemen, President Joe Biden's administration may shift U.S. policy not only to cancel past deals that pose human rights concerns, but limit future military sales to "defensive" weapons. Four sources familiar with the administration's thinking said officials are assessing the array of military equipment and training included in sales to the Saudis to determine what can be considered defensive. Those deals would be allowed. A State Department spokesperson said, "Our focus is on ending the conflict in Yemen even as we ensure Saudi Arabia has everything it needs to defend its territory and its people," adding Biden has pledged to end U.S. military support for the military campaign against the Houthis. The Biden administration is recalibrating its relationship with Saudi Arabia, a country with which it has severe human rights concerns but which is also one of Washington's closest U.S. allies. Former NFL defensive coordinator Wade Phillips uses his 45 years of experience to break down what we should see in Super Bowl 55. Ask for help. However, Phillips does have concerns about Tom Brady, who threw three interceptions in the second half of the NFC Championship Game. He believes the Chiefs can blitz the 43-year-old while attempting to choke off the deep outside and short inside routes. “You can play man on Brady because he doesn’t have Hill,” Phillips said. “[Mike] Evans and [Chris] Godwin are good, but I don’t think he can get it to them like he did before.” Additionally, the Chiefs have a distinct advantage up front with All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones going against right guard Aaron Stinnie, who is making only his third-career start in the Super Bowl. When I asked him to explain how Kansas City defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo could dissuade Tampa Bay from double-teaming Jones without sending all-out blitzes, Phillips harkened back to some of his best pupils over the years. “Same thing we did with Aaron Donald or J.J. Watt,” Phillips said....
US Coronavirus: US approaches 400,000 coronavirus deaths If Kim Jong Un destroyed North Koreas economy to keep Covid-19 out, will sanctions stop him from pursuing nuclear weapons? Anatomy of a Super Bowl Berth: How Brady and the Bucs can attack Green Bays Cover-3 Football fans have longed for a moment like this. Tom Brady on one sideline, Aaron Rodgers on the other, in a monumental game. It might not be in the Super Bowl, but those two venerable quarterbacks will clash this weekend with a Super Bowl berth at stake. © Provided by Touchdown Wire Of course, lost in that storyline is the fact that Brady will be squaring off with Darnell Savage and the Packers defense, while Rodgers will be staring down Devin White and the Buccaneers defense. Still, there are no shortage of storylines when examining those matchups. In thinking about a potential game script for Brady working against this Green Bay defensive unit, my mind was quickly taken to attacking Cover-3. Why? Because after charting out the Packers’ defensive performance this season one thing was illuminated:...
