SAN JOSE (KPIX) — A 111-year-old apartment building in downtown San Jose, which has now survived two pandemics, is set to get a new address on Sunday. “It’s just such a cool, old structure,” said Daniel Garcia who lives near the building. “It’s great that they’re keeping this. It takes a lot of lifting to move a two-story, 5,000 square-foot apartment building, but the Preservation Action Council has had a lot of help. And that’s paid off with the announcement that the 111-year-old Pallesen apartment building will be trucked about 900 feet to a new location on Sunday morning. It’s a big win for the PAC-SJ, which launched a $300,000 fundraising campaign to pay for the move, and Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley, which will renovate the four-unit building to create affordable housing at its new site near the on-ramp to Interstate 280 on Fourth and Reed streets. “This is a remarkable example of collaboration at its best,” said Janice Jensen, CEO of Habitat East Bay/Silicon Valley. “It has taken collective will and quite a bit of generosity to get us to this moment.” PAC-SJ has raised nearly $200,000 in the campaign, which started last month, and includes a $100,000 gift from Naglee Park residents Carl and Marianne Salas. There’s also a $75,000 matching grant available, which would leave the effort short by $35,000, according to Mike...

And the preferred option is understood to be Bucharest’s Arena Nationala, the venue where Diego Simeone’s side beat Marcelo Bielsa’s Athletic Bilbao to win the Europa League in 2012. It means that all three English sides are now likely to play their Champions League last 16 away ties on neutral soil while retaining home advantage for the second leg. Uefa have already confirmed that Liverpool’s first leg against Leipzig will be played in Budapest next week. And Manchester City are unlikely...
