An attorney who used to represent escaped murderer Casey White says his jail guard lover was likely the mastermind behind his prison break. Dale Bryant was the defense attorney for Casey when he was sentenced in 2019 on counts of attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, burglary and other felonies dating back to 2015. Bryant claims while the 6ft 9in inmate has a lengthy criminal history and escaped from jail before, his most recent getaway - which took place 11 days ago - was 'far too thorough and too far-thinking'. 'That is not Casey's MO,' Bryant told Newsweek on Sunday. 'None of his crimes were planned. They are all short sighted; in the moment crimes.' He added: 'Even his prior escape attempt from the same county jail was spontaneous.' The attorney also noted footage of their escape suggests jail guard Vicky White, who was in a more than two-year relationship with Casey, looks more worrisome than him. 'If you notice in the video of the two leaving the jail, Casey's body language does not look like someone that is hiding something,' Bryant...
Disgraced tennis star Boris Becker is struggling to adjust to life behind bars as he comes to grips with the 'constant noise' and small portions of basic food. The 54-year-old champion, known for enjoying luxuries like Cuban cigars, fine wines and fillet steak, was brought back down to earth after being served corned beef on his first night in prison. He was jailed for two and a half years last week for hiding assets during bankruptcy proceedings. Now Becker is finding it difficult to cope with the quantities of food on offer at Wandsworth Prison, sources say, and is using his £10 weekly allowance to top up meals with chocolate, biscuits and bananas from the canteen. The sportsman is also said to be struggling to sleep in his six square metre cell but is expected to be transferred to a jail that isn't so hard in the coming weeks. Boris Becker will be moved to a low-security prison within weeks and may serve just 10 months behind bars before spending the rest of his two-and-a-half-year sentence on an electronic tag.  The disgraced former tennis star, 54, arrived on Friday at HMP Wandsworth, a category B prison just over two miles from Wimbledon's Centre Court where he won three Grand Slam titles.  Wandsworth is also a remand prison used to temporarily detain criminals who are later transferred to serve their sentences elsewhere, and because Mr Becker's offences were non-violent it is likely his new jail will have a lower security category.  Boris Becker arriving at Southwark Crown Court for sentencing on Friday  The main entrance to HMP Wandsworth, London, United Kingdom. NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A former Pennsylvania attorney general who served jail time for leaking grand jury material and lying about it was taken into custody Friday on an alleged probation violation, more than a month after she was charged with drunken driving, officials said. Kathleen Kane, 55, was behind bars at Montgomery County Correctional Facility outside Philadelphia to await a hearing. No hearing date had been set as of Friday afternoon. A message was left for her attorney in the drunken driving case. Once a rising star in Pennsylvania politics, Kane resigned as attorney general after being convicted in 2016 of perjury, obstruction and other counts for leaking secret investigative files to embarrass a rival prosecutor. Kane was sentenced to 10 to 23 months behind bars, serving her time at the Montgomery County jail outside Philadelphia. She was released in 2019. Her term of probation doesn’t end until October 2025. On March 12, police in Scranton were called to the scene of a two-car crash and said they found Kane behind the wheel of an Audi. Kane told...
The 18-year-old pedophile at the center of Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson's Senate hearing said he was shocked to see his name in the news, but admitted what he did was 'monstrous.'  Wesley Hawkins, now 27, was scurrying around D.C. looking for a new job while Senate members were discussing his case at length in a nationally televised SCOTUS hearing, unbeknownst to him.  He was aware that Jackson, 51 - the judge who had sentenced him to three months in jail and 10 years on the sex offender registry for child pornography in 2013 - was before Congress as a Supreme Court nominee after hearing her name in the news a few weeks ago.  After seeing her picture, he immediately knew it was her but gave the matter little thought, The Washington Post reported.  Now, Hawkins stands in disbelief that his case, which received no local press almost a decade ago, was being discussed at the center of the nation's Capitol and his name was being said before Congress as Jackson received heat for her reported lenient sentences for sex offenders.  Hawkins...

MARTINEZ — The Contra Costa District Attorney’s office has filed a new criminal complaint against two Richmond men, alleging a pattern of violent crimes, including murder, that all occurred behind bars. Elliot Johnson, 27, and Bryan Anderson, 22, were charged last week with murder, conspiracy to commit assaults and possess a shank, and gang activity, court records show. Both men have been in jail since 2017, awaiting resolution in charges that they murdered 24-year-old Demarcus Doss, a Pinole man who died shielding his girlfriend from a hail of gunfire aimed at their car during rush hour on Interstate 80. The charging documents allege that on Sept. 23, 2020 Anderson and Johnson beat 32-year-old Levele Williams, an Oakland resident who suffered a broken jaw from a jail attack and died from complications during surgery at a local hospital one day after the beating. Authorities believe Williams’ beating was the result of a planned attack, and that both defendants snuck into his part of the jail and wore disguises to try and get away with it. SWEARING, bounced cheques and fake confessions have landed Brits behind bars in hell-hole UAE jails. Dubai's prisons are famed for their filthy conditions and brutal treatment of their inmates - with beatings, starvation and overcrowding. 6Prisons in Dubai have become notorious for their cruel treatment of inmates But while you might expect prisoners subjected to such torture to be locked up for murder or rape, Brits have been severely punished for seemingly trivial 'crimes'. Simply sending a message containing a swear word saw one expat facing two years in detention, while a CBD oil used for vaping has seen another banged up for a quarter of a century. And while in jail, Brits have lived off just bread and water in cells packed with scores of other inmates. They have also been slapped, deprived of medication, and suffered repeated broken bones - as well as being forced into falsely admitting their 'crimes'. COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Lawyers for prominent South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh plan to ask a judge on Tuesday to grant bond for their client, who has spent five nights in jail following his second arrest in about a month. Murdaugh, whose wife and son were shot to death months ago in a killing that is still unresolved, stole $3.4 million of insurance money that was meant for the sons of his housekeeper, who died after falling in his home, according to sworn statements by the State Law Enforcement Division. Murdaugh is already out on a recognizance bond for a September arrest on insurance fraud charges after state agents said he tried to arrange his own shooting death on a roadside so that his surviving son could collect a $10 million life insurance policy. The would-be fatal bullet only grazed him. Murdaugh’s latest bond hearing on two new charges of obtaining property by false pretenses is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday. He was arrested at a drug rehab center near Orlando, Florida, on Thursday and brought back to South Carolina....
