So how is it that mRNAs had no effect on all-cause mortality but protect against fatal COVID? Well, either they don’t really protect against COVID, or the nominal benefit is washed away by the mortality from adverse events. For example, among the Pfizer trials, there were two deaths in the control group and one in the trial group. Typically, we wouldn’t draw conclusions from such low numbers to suggest the shots work against fatal COVID. On the other hand, researchers found nine cardiovascular deaths among the trial group but only six among the placebo group and 14 “non accident, non-covid deaths” among the trial group but only 11 among the placebo group. “As COVID-19 mortality comes under better control due to herd immunity and increasing vaccination coverage, the impact on non-COVID-19 mortality becomes particularly important from a public health perspective,” concluded the authors. Gee, you think? The authors concede that the clinical trials were mainly conducted on healthy adults. They surmise that for sicker adults, the mRNAs might have induced a better mortality result, but that is pure speculation....

MEDIA WINNER: Independent Russian Journalists Who Interviewed Zelensky Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was interviewed over Zoom by independent Russian journalists Tikhon Dzyadko, Mikhail Zygar, Ivan Kolpakov, and Vladimir Soloviev, and it was an eye-opening chat for multiple reasons. CNN senior global affairs analyst Bianna Golodryga, who was born in Moldova and is fluent in Russian, reported on their conversation in a long Twitter thread, providing English translations. (Dzyadko has since tweeted part of the video with English subtitles.) As Golodryga reported, Zelensky started the interview by discussing how Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was not expecting such fierce resistance from the Ukrainians. What followed was a frank discussion of the brutality of Russia’s siege of Mariupol, Zelensky’s communications with his troops, reports of dead bodies in the streets and Ukrainian children being kidnapped by Russian soldiers, and Zelensky’s personal feelings of being “deeply disappointed” in the large number of Russians who voiced support for the war and how he expected this war to result in long-lasting hatred between the people of the two countries. Unsurprisingly, the Kremlin did not...
The world’s most influential health organisation is calling on governments to scrap the legal time limit on abortion, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.  New guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO) claim laws preventing abortion at any point during pregnancy risk violating the rights of ‘women, girls or other pregnant persons’.  But last night Tory MP Fiona Bruce, co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group, described any proposal to legalise abortion up to birth as ‘completely unacceptable’ and ‘truly shocking’.  She added: ‘A viable human being could have his or her life ended up to the point of birth. Yet a day, an hour, even moments later, similar action against a child could constitute murder.’ The world’s most influential health organisation is calling on governments to scrap the legal time limit on abortion, The Mail on Sunday can reveal (stock image) RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 2 Next Woman, 24, appears in court charged with 'procuring her own... (CNN)At approximately 11am on Saturday, January 29th, in the Philadelphia area of the United States, a 27-year-old man is intending to ease his seven-foot frame into a chair -- or perhaps remain standing -- and turn on the device of his choosing, to spend 90 minutes consumed by the events unfolding on a soccer field in his birthplace of Yaoundé, Cameroon.Warning: People in the vicinity may hear cheering -- loud, loud cheering. Georgia Senate Republicans are pushing a bill that would end any requirements for any vaccinations by any state or local government agency or office in the Peach State, including vaccines for children entering public school. The bill also bans any government agency from requiring private companies or entities from requiring any proof of any vaccination. The bill, SB 345, was filed on January 14 with five original co-sponsors. It now has 17, including state Senator Jeff Mullis, whose campaign website prominently features photos of him with former Vice President Mike Pence, and former President Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr. “No agency shall require proof of any vaccination of any person as a condition of providing any service or access to any facility, issuing any license, permit, or other type of authorization, or performing any duty of such agency,” the bill’s text reads in part. Georgia State Law law professor Anthony Michael Kreis posted Georgia’s school vaccine requirements, suggesting those would be optional were the bill to become law. Legislation has been introduced in the Georgia Senate with to...

Prince Andrew was today stripped of his military titles and royal patronages by the Queen.  The news will be a major blow to the Duke of York, who served as a helicopter pilot for the Royal Navy during the Falklands War.    Buckingham Palace said: 'With The Queen's approval and agreement, The Duke of York’s military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to The Queen.  'The Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen.'   The Palace said previously that the duke's military appointments were in abeyance after he stepped down from public duties in 2019. But, prior to today, he still retained the roles, leaving eight British regiments, including the Grenadier Guards, in limbo more than two years on.   Prince Andrew (pictured left in military uniform) was today stripped of his military honours by the Queen (seen right with Charles)   Earlier today, in an open letter to the Queen organised by the anti-monarchy group Republic, former members of Royal Navy, RAF and Army described their 'upset and...

Actor Alec Baldwin shared an open letter from Rust crew and cast members on Instagram firing back at claims that the set was ‘chaotic, dangerous and exploitative.’  In the weeks since the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film, many have claimed that the production had an unsafe environment that was partly to blame for the tragedy.  Baldwin, who was holding the gun that fired and killed Hutchins, gave a teary-eyed interview a week ago in which he denied any personal responsibility and said the prop weapon discharged on its own when he cocked it.  He argued that someone else was at fault for the gun being loaded with live ammo, but argued that the culture behind the scenes was not at fault for the tragedy.  The open letter he shared on Instagram, which was signed by over 20 crew and cast members, supports that claim and begins by saying its writers were not influenced to make such a statement by any of the producers on set, including Baldwin. It adds that the signing crewmembers ‘believe...
The US is considering lifting its South Africa travel ban as the COVID-19 Omicron variant blazes through at least 15 states and 40 countries, says White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci. President Joe Biden locked eight South African countries out of the US last Monday in fear of the new super mutant COVID variant, and the ban remains in place despite travel remaining open to other foreign countries. Although the Omicron variant was first identified in South Africa, it was later revealed that a case of the variant was confirmed in Europe a week before cases were detected in South Africa.  United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres last Wednesday said it was 'deeply unfair' to isolate a single region, calling the ban 'travel apartheid.' But Fauci said Sunday that the restrictions were made during a time when an explosion of Omicron cases were rocking South Africa as the severity of the variant remained unknown. He said US officials are now reevaluating the restrictions.  'When the ban was put on, it was put to give us time to figure out...

Saturday Night Live lampooned the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict this weekend, at one point joking that "hopefully, he got all that shooting out of his system before he becomes a cop." The Saturday evening show opened with an imitation of Fox News's Judge Jeanine Pirro, played by Cecily Strong, reporting on the Rittenhouse verdict. 'IF THAT'S NOT SELF DEFENSE, NOTHING IS:' TRUMP CONGRATULATES RITTENHOUSE ON ACQUITTAL "Our top story, Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges. That lovable scamp was put through a nightmare of a trial just for doing the bravest thing any American can do, protecting an empty used car lot in someone else's town," the comedian doing an impression of Pirro said. "Now onto our first guest. He's as impartial as a dance mom clapping harder than anyone. Judge Bruce Schroeder." "Well, it was all standard procedure. That's why I ordered that the prosecution not use the word 'victims.' They were 'rioters ,' and they weren't 'shot' — they were 'gadoynked," the judge character said. "But that did not give my client an...
When he was eight years old, Wilbur Smith saw his father kill three man-eating lions. The animals attacked their safari camp at night and, woken by the screams of a guide, Herbert Smith grabbed a torch and his heavy rifle. On the way out of his tent, Herbert lunged headfirst into the tent pole and smashed his nose open. Wilbur saw the gush of blood, and at the same moment realised his father was wearing only a pyjama top, and was naked from the waist down. Then the lion charged. Herbert trained the torch beam on it with his left hand, raised the rifle with his right and shot from the waist, as if he was holding a pistol. He hit the lion in the chest. Seconds later, he brought down the two lionesses.
