CHELSEA legend John Terry has slammed accusations that the players had too much power and influence in the dressing room during his time at the club. The 41-year-old has commented on claims that certain individuals at Stamford Bridge were dictating what was happening behind-closed-doors. 2John Terry has claimed that player power at Chelsea was a myth as he rubbished reports they had too much influenceCredit: Jamie McPhilimey - The Sun 2Terry has insisted that players did scream at each other if standards slipped in the squadCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd Those suggestions failed to go away during Terry's trophy-laden 19-year career in West London before he departed in 2017. There has even been speculation that player power at Chelsea saw the likes of Avram Grant, Roberto Di Matteo and Andre Villas-Boas be sacked. And when Jose Mourinho's second Blues stint came to a premature end in December 2015, player power was said to have played a part. But Terry has rubbished those rumours as he declared that he and his former team-mates never wielded that much influence. Read more on...
CLEVELAND (AP) — The name has been changed on the front of Cleveland’s jerseys and there’s a new logo on the team’s caps. There’s another thing notably refreshing and different about this young squad as it opens spring training. Manager Terry Francona is back. Sidelined over the past two seasons by serious medical issues, the 62-year-old Francona feels recharged and eager to begin his 10th season with Cleveland — and his first as manager of the Guardians, previously known as the Indians. After hobbling around in a protective boot before stepping away last July, Francona joked that his 2022 season is already an improvement. “I got two shoes on, so right off the bat, I’m better than I was last year,” Francona cracked at the team’s training complex in Goodyear, Arizona, on Monday. The past two seasons have taken a toll on Francona, a two-time World Series champion with Boston and one of baseball’s most popular managers. He struggled with simple tasks, and the inability to function tested his patience and made him irascible. “It’s been a hard couple years,...
JOHN TERRY has revealed he turned down managerial jobs while he was Dean Smith's assistant coach at Aston Villa. The Chelsea legend is keen to get into management but is willing to wait until the right job comes up. 1Terry was offered jobs in management while he was assistant coach at VillaCredit: GETTY In fact, Terry has admitted he snubbed managerial offers whilst he was assistant coach at Villa. When asked by a fan why he left Villa in an Instagram Q&A, family as well as potential management posts were the reasons given for his departure. Terry didn't want to start the season at Villa and then jump ship mid-season should an interesting offer come up. He said: "I wanted to spend some time with my family, my kids are 15 and going into their GCSEs and I was never there for them, I travelled up and down the motorway or staying in hotels away from my family giving everything I had to Villa. "I'm ready to go into management and had been approached while I was at...

Torres rose quickly in the Guardians setting. He will work with Carl Willis, who is returning for a fifth season as Francona’s pitch coach. Ranked 10th overall by Anaheim Angels until 2000, Torres spent 13 seasons with five companies for minors. Francona, 62, is set to return to the 10th season as manager of the Guardians. He has been sidelined by major medical issues for the past two seasons and retired from the team last July to focus on his health. Francona is currently recovering from toe surgery. When he returns to his role with the team, Francona will be the most successful manager in Guardians history with 753 wins. See also  Mbappe brace PSG top -...

But John Terry’s lack of experience will prevent Smith’s former No 2 making a return to Villa Park as his replacement. Villa are 16th in the league — just two points above the relegation zone. Indians manager Terry Francona is resting comfortably after undergoing toe surgery, his second operation since stepping aside for the season in July. I’ve told him, too," Hale said before the Indians faced the Minnesota Twins. Former Democratic governor Terry McAuliffe received a $100,000 campaign donation from a hedge fund billionaire who faced public condemnation when he consoled Harvey Weinstein as the movie producer was engulfed by allegations of sexual harassment and unwanted sexual contact. Paul Tudor Jones, 66, a former board member at Weinstein's production company, was forced to publicly distance himself from the disgraced Hollywood mogul after it emerged he wrote to tell the producer the accusations would soon be forgotten. His donation to McAuliffe's gubernatorial campaign was revealed by the nonpartisan Virginia Public Access Project. The Virginia race, one of only two statewide contests this year, could set state records for campaign spending as McAuliffe takes on Republican Glenn Youngkin. But the ties to Jones could embarrass a campaign that has sought to portray its opponent as anti-women. The New York Times obtained an email message sent by Jones on October 7, 2017, the day before Weinstein was ousted from his own company 'I love you,' he wrote, reportedly offering a blueprint for Weinstein to rehabilitate his image. 'Focus on the future as...

He then returned to Villa a year later, becoming an assistant in manager Dean Smith’s coaching team. “I want to be as respectful to the manager and everyone at Aston Villa as I can and, having given my future serious consideration over the summer, I genuinely don’t feel it is fair to move into a new season without being certain of seeing that through,” the 40-year-old Terry said in a statement published on the club’s website on Monday. “My immediate plan is to spend some quality time with my family and, thereafter, hopefully take up some invitations to visit clubs and managers around Europe to develop my aim and objective of becoming a manager. WITH all the pressure and egos that make up squads in major tournaments, it's no wonder they don't fall out more often. The latest national team to suffer mutiny in the camp is France - with forwards Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe at each other's throats before a ball has even been kicked ahead of Euro 2020. 14Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe have reportedly fallen out before Euro 2020Credit: Getty First, Giroud suggested that Mbappe didn't pass to him on the pitch in an interview after a warm-up match against Bulgaria. Sensationally, Mbappe then reportedly wanted to hold his own press conference to address Giroud's remarks.
