Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York slammed the Supreme Court over Justice Samuel Alito's leaked opinion and called the threat to reproductive rights "an issue that is defining this country today." Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand slammed the Supreme Court justices named in the leaked draft opinion for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, calling them out for lying about their positions. The New York lawmaker told reporters on Thursday that she’s hoping SCOTUS is investigated over the justices’ decision to attack reproductive rights. It was her speech on the possible elimination of Roe v. Wade that truly gets at the heart of this issue, however. Gillibrand said it’s about a right to privacy and bodily autonomy and that any threat to those things constitutes a threat to our freedom. “We deserve to be able to make decisions about when we are having children, under what circumstances we are having children, how many children we are having, and at what time we are having children,” Gillibrand said. “It is an outrage that we have five justices on the Supreme Court who lied, lied in...
Dave Rubin is finally free. After years of hiding his true self from the world, seemingly ashamed of who he really is, he says he’s at last loud and proud…to admit he’s a hardcore Donald Trump supporter and a conservative. “In many ways, it was harder coming out as a Trump supporter than coming out as gay,” Rubin writes in his feeble new book Don’t Burn This Country: Surviving and Thriving in Our Woke Dystopia. Famous in the right-wing media ecosphere as the “Why I Left the Left” guy, Rubin claims to have had a totally organic evolution in just a few short years from a Bernie Sanders-supporting lefty to a “classical liberal” ostensibly devoted to civil discourse—and now all the way around the bend to his current incarnation as a MAGA shitposter who calls every Democrat, liberal or non-right wing media figure “evil.” Rubin made his name as the host of the Rubin Report on YouTube, where he gained a substantial audience hosting anti-woke “Intellectual Dark Web” figures, far-right activists, and overt racists for uncritical (or slavishly fawning) interviews....
Rep. Victoria Spartz, a Ukrainian American representing Indiana's 5th Congressional District, delivered an emotional plea to President Joe Biden, fellow members of Congress, and the public on Tuesday morning. "This is not a war," she said. "This is a genocide of the Ukrainian people by a crazy man who cannot get over that Ukrainian people do not want socialism, [the] Soviet Union, [or] communism.” NO RALLY AROUND THE FLAG EFFECT FROM UKRAINE IN BIDEN'S BAD POLL NUMBERS "They are bombing civilians nonstop, day and night.” "They are leveling the cities to the ground, destroying the people. They are slaughtering them like animals. They are killing the people. It is not a war. It’s a genocide because we have a crazy man that believes he has the whole world hostage," she added while on the verge of tears. “I can tell you one thing: If we don’t stop him there, he is not going to stop. He is going to go further. And then we’ll have to send our children to die to...
OAKLAND — A man who beat his father to death shortly after they arrived for an ID card appointment at the Fremont DMV has been sentenced to 18 years in state prison as part of a plea deal, court records show Phillip Copeland, 45, was sentenced last month to 18 years in state prison in exchange for a no contest plea to a voluntary manslaughter charge. In exchange, prosecutors dropped murder charges. Phillip Copeland attacked his father, Lee Copeland, during a heated argument in the DMV parking lot on Oct. 17, 2018. Police said at the time that Phillip Copeland continued to kick Lee Copeland in the head after he fell to the ground. He died three days later at a local hospital. Lee Copeland and Phillip Copeland’s mother were taking Phillip Copeland — who was homeless — to the DMV to apply for an ID card when the attack occurred. According to court records, Phillip Copeland angrily accused his parents of “trying to control me” then struck his father in the back of the head and continued to punch...
Drew Angerer/Getty Images “I’m sure Matt Gaetz is not feeling very comfortable today.” That was the comment Fritz Scheller, the attorney for former Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg, made to reporters in April. If the Florida Congressman was uncomfortable a month ago, he’s undoubtedly downright miserable now, after new details have emerged regarding Greenberg’s plea deal. On Friday, multiple news outlets, including the New York Times and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, reported new details from Greenberg’s written plea agreement that will be made official during a court hearing Monday morning. Mediaite has obtained a copy of the plea agreement (signed by Greenberg, Scheller, and the prosecutors) and it is embedded at the end of this article. Greenberg was facing 33 charges in a federal indictment that was amended four times to add additional allegations of criminal activity, and facing a potential life sentence. The charges were related to an alleged sex trafficking scheme, Greenberg’s alleged misappropriation and theft of taxpayer funds, an allegedly fraudulent application for a PPP loan from the Covid relief fund, and a bizarre plot to allegedly...
HUNTINGTON PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- With the election only a week away, Huntington Park officials are concerned there may not be enough vote centers to accommodate their city. The city has more than 21,000 registered voters, but only two voting centers for the Nov. 3 election; that's half the number they had for the primary election in March--which city leaders say wasn't enough."We're concerned because for the primary election in March, we, we needed to adapt," said Graciela Ortiz, vice mayor of Huntington Park. "Our voters were waiting over four hours. We had senior citizens that were waiting over four hours. And we as a city expressed this concern to the county."The Los Angeles County Registrar's Office said when identifying vote centers they used strict safety standards to help combat the spread of the coronavirus. In a written statement to ABC7, they said: "Of the eight locations pursued in the city of Huntington Park, four did not meet the necessary safety standards to protect the public, two declined to participate as vote centers, and two were confirmed that met all necessary requirements.""Not...
Rush Limbaugh on Monday issued a passionate plea to Americans to re-elect President Donald Trump on Nov. 3. The longtime conservative commentator announced last week that his Stage 4 lung cancer is terminal. What are the details? In a video filmed in the 69-year-old's home library, Limbaugh reaffirmed his support for Trump just moments before Barrett's Supreme Court confirmation. “Hey, folks, sitting here in the library getting ready to watch the confirmation vote — Amy Coney Barrett, Supreme Court — and it just reminds me: Folks, we don't have a choice in this election," Limbaugh began. “It's got to be Donald Trump." Limbaugh pointed out that the 2020 presidential election is especially important because the Democratic Party simply isn't what it used to be. “We're not going to have the kind of country everybody thinks we're going to have," he predicted. "This is not the old 'Republicans versus Democrats,' where we all have the same objectives, just different philosophies on how to get there. They do not have those objectives any more. Their purpose is to erase the Constitution,...
Former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith's expected guilty plea for falsifying a document to justify surveillance on a former Trump campaign adviser could be the first of many resulting from the Durham probe, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., told “Fox & Friends.” The “French-speaking attorney,” as Nunes calls Clinesmith, proclaimed “Vive la Resistance” in one of his anti-Trump text messages that have been revealed. RUSSIA 'ORIGINS' PROBE TO YIELD 'SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS,' BARR SAYS “I think that Durham is letting him off extremely easy," Nunes said. "There is multiple indictments that could have been brought, probably including conspiracy and including destruction of evidence. So my guess is maybe he's going to cooperate. Maybe he's not. But this is a good first step.” Attorney General William Barr testifies during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the oversight of the Department of Justice on Capitol Hill, Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in Washington. (Matt McClain/The Washington Post via AP, Pool) On Friday, responding to news of Clinesmith's expected guilty plea President Trump said, "That's just the beginning, I would imagine. This... what happened should never happen again." He also called Clinesmith...
