VALLEJO (BCN) – The location of a proposed new police station appears to have shifted after Tuesday’s Vallejo City Council meeting when discussion on the proposed relocation of the headquarters pivoted from a waterfront location to the building currently housing the library. The council voted unanimously to explore the library site option. Public opposition to moving the department to 400 Mare Island Way on the waterfront has been pronounced. The council appeared to bend to the backlash and is now reviewing the relocation of the police department to the John F. Kennedy Library on Santa Clara Street, directly adjacent to City Hall. A Florida woman was awarded $5.25million after a jury found a Vermont doctor guilty of inseminating her with his own sperm instead of an anonymous donor.  A jury awarded Cheryl Rousseau. 73, of Florida, $5million in punitive damages and $250,000 in compensatory damages on Wednesday after they found Dr. John Coates III, 80, had impregnated her with his sperm in 1977 without her consent at Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin, Vermont. Her husband Peter had an irreversible vasectomy and the pair wanted a child together after both having previous children from other marriages. She was artificially inseminated by Coates in March 1977 and delivered her daughter in December of that year. She was reportedly taken to a side room at the hospital and told to remove her clothing from the waist down while Coates went to an adjacent room for five minutes, the Montpelier Bridge reported. When he returned, he injected her with the syringe he carried in and told her to close her legs for a few minutes.  She reportedly had a miscarriage and successfully tried the procedure again a few months later and delivered...
As Russia invades Ukraine, shelling civilians and reportedly committing war crime-level brutality, President Biden has put harsh sanctions to Kremlin-tied businesses, banks and oligarchs, but not the oil and gas industry.  Both Republicans and Democrats, even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have called for the U.S. to quit doing business with Russia's oil and gas industry. But the White House, forced to grapple with inflation at levels not seen in 40 years, cited the potential rise in costs at the pump and has so far resisted bipartisan pressure to ban Russian fuel imports.  But on Monday it was reported that the Biden administration is considering moving forward with such a ban, with or without the backing of other European leaders. Biden is expected to hold a video conference with leaders from Germany, France and the United Kingdom to seek their support for a ban on the imports.    Experts say that U.S. oil and gas supply could likely recover from a Russia ban as their fuel accounts for a small share of total product, and the nation could turn to wells here...
Critics have slammed President Joe Biden for costing the military nearly six million man hours to implement his 'leftist social agenda' on diversity and extremism in the ranks instead of 'countering real threats like China, Russia and Iran'. Joint Chief of Staffs Chairman General Mark Milley revealed that more than 5.3 million hours and $535,000 was spent on extremism 'stand downs' or discussions about extremism in the ranks. In response, 12 Republican Senators on the Armed Services Committee accused the Biden administration of promoting a 'leftist social agenda in the military instead of countering China, Russia and Iran or creating an effective counterterrorism plan'. In recent weeks, Russia have amassed troops on the Ukrainian border, China have built up military presence in the South China Sea and U.S. officials warned Iran was on the verge of building a nuclear bomb. Cracker Barrel was ordered to pay $4.3 million to an individual served sanitizer instead of a glass of water at the restaurant located in Tennessee in 2014. “He has a lifetime of healthcare needs facing him in the future,” attorney Thomas Greer told WTVG recently. William Cronnon expected a cup of water after going to Cracker Barrel several years ago. He has since endured a lengthy court battle. “Instead of taking personal responsibility and personal accountability for their conduct, they abused the court system by denying that they did anything wrong,” Greer asserted. “He has a lifetime of healthcare needs facing him in the future,” attorney Thomas Greer said. Posted by WCJB TV20 News on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 The lawsuit awarded the man $4.3 million to assist with damage that still affects his throat and lungs. “It was a relief to him because he knew he was believed,” Greer noted. However, Cronnon will apparently not receive funds close to the amount. “This is an unfair law that only affects people who are seriously injured, and he will not even...
A Tennessee man who took a sip of water at a Cracker Barrel in 2014 only to realize he had just swallowed a corrosive kitchen cleaner was awarded $9.4 million by a jury, far above the $150,000 he originally asked for. William Cronnon was awarded $3.6 million in non-economic damages, such as pain and emotional distress, and $730,000 in economic damages by a Marion County jury on January 6. The jury also awarded him $5 million in punitive damages, according to court documents. 'The jury returned a verdict for compensatory damages of $4.3 million in just 30 minutes - one of the fastest verdicts we have ever seen - and awarded punitive damages of $5 million after only 10 minutes of additional deliberation,' Cronnon's lawyer Thomas Greer told CNN. 'The speed of the verdict, combined with an amount in excess of what we asked, speaks to just how dangerous the Cracker Barrel policy was,' Greer said.  However, Cronnon is unlikely to receive the whole sum based on a Tennessee law that caps compensation for punitive and non-economic damages at $750,000....
Populist firebrand Matteo Salvini said that the demographic problems facing Italy and other Western nations cannot be solved through mass migration, declaring that he refuses to see “ten million Italians” substituted with migrants. League party leader Matteo Salvini argued that instead of replacing millions of Italians with foreign migrants, he supports family-friendly policies to encourage Italians to have more children. “My objective is to give economic serenity to Italians to encourage them to have children,” Salvini told The Guardian. “I refuse to think of substituting ten million Italians with ten million migrants.” The former deputy prime minister emphasised the importance of increasing native births over immigration, previously stating in 2018 while still in government that “a country which does not create children is destined to die”. The Italian populist is set to travel to Warsaw next month to show solidarity with Poland, which is currently struggling to protect its own border from large numbers of migrants trying to illegally cross from Belarus. Salvini suggested that the “shock” of the crisis might end up being useful, explaining: “I think that Europe is realising that...
CNN’s heavily publicized town hall with President Biden failed to resonate with viewers, finishing with a smaller audience than regular programming on both Fox News and MSNBC. CNN’s town hall moderated by Anderson Cooper, which was criticized for being "littered with watered-down softballs" and completely ignoring Afghanistan, averaged only 1.2 million viewers from 8-9:30 p.m. ET. During that same time frame, Fox News averaged 2.8 million and MSNBC averaged 1.4 million viewers.  CNN GIVES BIDEN A PASS ON AFGHANISTAN, COMPLETELY IGNORES TOPIC DURING 90-MINUTE TOWN HALL CNN’s heavily publicized town hall with President Biden failed to resonate with viewers. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci) (AP Photo/Evan Vucci) On the bright side, CNN has failed to crack the one-million viewer plateau on a regular basis lately so Biden’s appearance briefly helped the network pass the barrier.  However, things quickly went back to the status quo and CNN finished dead last among the three cable news outlets during the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. ET, averaging a dismal 984,000 viewers compared to 2.6 million for Fox News and 1.4 million for MSNBC.  CNN...
A handful of US states and countries around the world are set to ban the sale of new gas-powered cars as soon as 2030, but a new study finds holding onto your 'gas guzzler' is better than switching to the green technology. Researchers at Kyushu University in Japan found using cars with good fuel efficiency longer could reduce carbon dioxide emissions significantly more than an accelerated transition to alternative fuel vehicles. This was found after the team conducted a case study of newly registered and used cars in Japan between 1990 and 2016, which allowed them to model how 'replacement behavior' impacts the nation's carbon footprint. Results of the study showed that if an car is kept 10 percent longer, the average ownership of a car is seven years, the overall carbon footprint of cars would decrease by 30.7 million tons. In a speech on Thursday, President Joe Biden slammed those who he say have undermined his administration’s initiatives in combating the coronavirus pandemic. “Instead of encouraging people to get vaccinated and mask up, they’re ordering mobile morgues,” Biden said of officials he said have undermined his administration’s fight against the pandemic. Biden did not name any officials by name, though he apparently referred to Republicans including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has pushed back against the administration, which has called out Florida’s response to the pandemic such as not having school mask mandates. Ahead of the president’s speech, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem tweeted, “South Dakota will stand up to defend freedom. @JoeBiden see you in court.” South Dakota will stand up to defend freedom. @JoeBiden see you in court. — Governor Kristi Noem (@govkristinoem) September 9, 2021 Biden remarked that it’s “incredibly frustrating” that 80 million Americans remain unvaccinated “even though the vaccine is safe, effective and free.” “Many of us are frustrated with the nearly 80 million Americans who are still not vaccinated, even though the vaccine is...
In this article AMZNSir Ian McKellen has said he was "miserable" while filming "The Hobbit," compared to playing Gandalf in "Lord of the Rings," because of too much virtual production, but the technology could become more common in filmmaking in a post-Covid-19 world.New Line | WireImage | Getty ImagesAmazon has announced it is going to film the second season of its yet-to-be-named "Lord of the Rings" television series in the U.K. rather than New Zealand, which is where the first season and Peter Jackson's Oscar-winning film trilogy were filmed. Amazon Studios said Thursday that the move away from New Zealand is part of its strategy to expand its U.K. production footprint and to invest in studio space in the U.K. The exact filming locations have not been disclosed. Industry publication Deadline reported that New Zealand's strict Covid-19 lockdown rules had meant the cast of the show, more than half of whom are British, were unable to return home for almost two years. The country's border control measures also reportedly prevented Amazon executives from visiting the sets. Home to rugged snowy...
Why the New York Giants should extend Jabrill Peppers instead of trade him Alexander Wilson July 23, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants have several pillars on the defense, and one of them is safety Jabrill Peppers, who not only brings a unique blend of coverage ability and run-stopping prowess but energy to a team that has lacked in the past. Peppers first entered the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, transitioning from strong safety to free safety during his first two years, but it wasn’t until this past season where he truly found his potential under coordinator Patrick Graham. To give you an idea of how much Graham helped Peppers elevate his game, he set personal bests in almost every influential defensive category. To list them all, Peppers improved in tackles, tackles for a loss, sacks, passes defended, pressures, hurries and posted the lowest missed tackle right of his career. Statistically, he recorded 91 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, three QB...

As violent crime surges from coast to coast, Democrats could do one of two things about their defund-the-police initiatives that are propelling this mayhem. They could defend their efforts and say, in essence, "Who cares about the burgeoning carnage? We want social justice, the blood of innocents be damned." Or they could apologize: "We blew it! Our soft-headed ideas were gunned down by reality. Sorry!" Instead, Democrats are performing a political trifecta of hypocrisy, deceit and psychological projection: Democrats didn’t defund the police. Republicans did. Lying Democrats now blame Republicans for defunding police and, presumably, unleashing the ensuing epidemic of lawlessness.  ELI STEELE: THE SHAMEFUL SCAPEGOATING OF ASIANS BY NYC'S CRITICAL RACE THEORY MACHINE Their "proof"? Republicans opposed Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan that provided $350 billion in aid to states, cities, and tribes. Nowhere does this 242-page bill mention "police" or "law enforcement." This legislation lets "public safety officers" participate in an $80 million allotment for "mental health and substance use disorder training." Also, "public safety" is among the purposes of a $772.5 million outlay to Tribal governments....
A wildlife official on the lookout for sea turtle nests accidentally stumbled upon about $1.2 million worth of cocaine instead. It washed up on the beach at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.  Defenders from the 45th Security Forces Squadron seized the nearly 30 kilograms of cocaine after it was found on May 19, according to a recent press release.  Angy Chambers, 45th Civil Engineer Squadron wildlife manager, was performing a sea turtle nesting survey when she spotted a small package wrapped in plastic and tape — and then she kept finding more of them.  According to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, the drugs had an estimated value of approximately $1.2 million. Space Launch Delta 45 "I immediately contacted the 45th Security Forces Squadron," said Chambers. "While I was waiting for them to arrive, I drove a little further and noticed another package, and then another. At that point, I called SFS back and suggested they bring their UTV, or Utility Terrain Vehicle, as I counted at least 18 packages." Officials suspected the packages contained drugs, and began search and...
In this article APEN APO AMEH American Online shirt, AOL from Urban OutfittersSource: Urban OutfittersAmidst the hodgepodge of Verizon Media assets Apollo Global Management is buying from Verizon — Yahoo Finance, TechCrunch, advertising technology, Yahoo Fantasy — there's one cash flow stream that will not die: AOL. The famed internet company that once bought Time Warner for $182 billion, and used to make billions of dollars annually selling dial-up modem access, still has a monthly subscription service called AOL Advantage. In 2015, 2.1 million people were still using AOL's dial-up service. That revenue stream has dried up. The number of dial-up users is now "in the low thousands," according to a person familiar with the matter. But AOL still has a fairly lucrative base of customers who pay for technical support and identity theft services each month. There are about 1.5 million monthly customers paying $9.99 or $14.99 per month for AOL Advantage, said another person, who asked not to be named because the information is private. If average revenue per user is $10 per month, conservatively, that's $180...
On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Fox News Senior Meteorologist Janice Dean stated that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) administration covered up the coronavirus death toll in nursing homes because “he had a book to sell, a $4 million book.” And called for the New York legislature to end its “whitewash of an impeachment” and impeach Cuomo immediately. Dean said Cuomo “would go on these interviews on television, when they would finally ask him the question about the nursing homes, he would give false information and he knew all along he was lying. So why did he and his top aides, including Melissa DeRosa, go to such great lengths to make sure that no one would find out the real total of the deaths? I think it’s because it’s criminal and he had a book to sell, a $4 million book.” She later added, “Our lawmakers in Albany need to do something. This whitewash of an impeachment is ridiculous. Go in there today and get it done. There are at least four investigations into...
