Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter will see substantial changes implemented on the social media platform with everything from longer tweets and paid subscriptions using 'joke' cryptocurrency Dogecoin all within the realm of possibility.  Musk has vowed to let everyone say whatever they want on Twitter after his takeover of the social media giant. He is said to favor temporary 'timeouts' for users who break the new rules, rather than permanent bans such as those given to Donald Trump.  Details of his immediate plans are slim, but the Tesla chief portrays himself as a free-speech absolutist. Other mooted changes include blue verification checkmarks for anyone who subscribes to Twitter's premium Blue service, which costs $2.99 a month. Musk is said to favor a subscription-based model over advertiser funding, as it would make Twitter less beholden to advertiser pressure. He has even suggested users could pay with cryptocurrency, including joke currency Dogecoin which Musk has long had an affection for.  He's also likely to fire many of the firm's woke staff. Workers have been told the transfer of ownership will last around...
The widow and son of a black motorist shot in the head by a white state trooper during a traffic stop over a broken tail light will receive a settlement of nearly $5 million. Julian Lewis, 60, was shot and killed by trooper Jacob Thompson, 28, in the countryside 60 miles south of Savannah, Georgia in August 2020. After the state cop signaled Lewis to pull over and he failed to do so, Thompson rammed his car into a ditch. Julian Lewis is survived by son Brook Bacon (Photo of Julian released by Lewis family law firm) When Lewis began driving out of the trench and toward the trooper, Thompson pulled the trigger. The state of Georgia will pay the sizeable settlement of $4.8m to Lewis's family months after a grand jury decided not to indict Thompson for felony murder and aggravated assault. Thompson was fired from the Georgia State Patrol a week after the killing. He was arrested and taken to Screven County Jail before being charged.  But prosecutors failed to get an indictment from a grand jury, who in July 2021...
Venus and Serena Williams' stepmom has filed for bankruptcy in a last-ditch bid to keep the now crumbling home where estranged husband 'King' Richard turned his daughters into tennis legends, DailyMail.com can reveal. The move by Lakeisha Williams, 43, is another twist in the often bitter saga of her marriage to the 80-year-old former coach – including new divorce court papers revealed by DailyMail.com in which she claims they have reunited and enjoy regular steamy sex. It's also one more bizarre turn in events surrounding ailing dad-of-nine Richard Williams, the focus of hit movie King Richard whose star Will Smith sensationally slapped Chris Rock before picking up a now controversial Oscar for best actor. Williams, who has suffered several strokes and is battling dementia, moved third-wife Lakeisha into his then palatial home in an ultra-rural part of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, after they wed in 2009. But the couple – who have son a Dylan, nine – split in 2017. Williams then filed for divorce accusing his wife of forging his signature to have his name removed from the property...

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived for crisis talks over dinner in Brussels with the European Union's chief executive on Wednesday, amid mounting concern that Britain is heading for a turbulent break-up with the bloc in three weeks. "Allons-y," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said to Johnson, using a French term for "let's go" as they headed off for dinner in the star-shaped 1960s modernist Berlaymont building, headquarters of the EU's executive. "Allons-y," Johnson replied. Before this brief exchange the two leaders greeted each other and took masks off for photographs. Both sides have cast the meeting as a chance to unlock the stalled trade talks but acknowledge there is a danger that there may be no trade deal in place when Britain finally leaves the EU's orbit on Dec. 31. Former national security adviser John Bolton on Tuesday accused Democrats of having taken the “opportunity” of the impeachment inquiry and having driven it “straight into a ditch” by turning it into a partisan fight. Bolton was widely criticized by Democrats for refusing to testify in the impeachment inquiry into President Trump’s actions in relation to Ukraine -- only to release a book on his time in office after the trial was over, when Trump was acquitted by the Senate. BOLTON SAYS IMPEACHMENT FAILED BECAUSE DEMS PLAYED INTO TRUMP'S HANDS  But on Tuesday he blamed Democrats for the outcome of the process, saying they’d turned it into a “partisan war.” “It struck me that the partisan nature of the impeachment inquiry, limited in scope, very much driven by the Democratic chronology for nominating their presidential candidate, was virtually guaranteeing that this was going to be a partisan war, and that's what it turned out to be,” Bolton said in an interview at the Aspen Security Forum. “In many respects, it struck me as taking an opportunity and driving straight into a...
