ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) — The Minnesota Wild kickoff their first-round playoff series against the St. Louis Blues Monday night in St. Paul. “More than anything, it’s understanding of, you know, how tough it’s gonna be. You know, when you get in the playoffs, it’s extremely hard,” said Wild head coach Dean Evason. READ MORE: Married Vietnam Vets Honored By St. Paul Saints, In TandemThe Blues have the experience. They won the Stanley Cup in 2019. “They know what it takes. So we’ve gotta get our noses in there and figure out what it takes very early,” Evason said. The Wild are regulars in the playoffs, but haven’t made it out of the first round in seven years. Monday night, trade deadline acquisition Jacob Middleton will make his postseason debut. “Tough to get to sleep last night just thinking of all the scenarios that could go down, but it’s something you dream about, to get this opportunity, so I’m excited,” Middleton said. The driver of a pub crawl trolley that crashed over the weekend and left more than a dozen people injured - two 'critically' - has been charged with a DUI. James Anthony Johnson, 28, was arrested Saturday after the crash at around 6.30pm at the intersection of 14th and West Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. A total of 15 people on board were hurt and rushed to hospital, where 10 people suffered minor injuries, while two others are still critically injured. Three others are in 'serious condition,' the Atlanta Fire and Rescue unit reported. The party vehicle, also known as a 'pedal pub,' went too fast and rolled over while trying to turn at the intersection in downtown, according to local authorities. 'I was just laying in bed, and then I heard several screams,' said a horrified witness, who saw passengers trapped by the party bike. Footage of the incident showed several riders lying on the lawn next to the scene of the crash, waiting to be assisted by 911, while red solo cups and other pieces of debris were...
NASHVILLE, TN – SEPTEMBER 25: Devonte Wyatt #95 of the Georgia Bulldogs celebrates against the Vanderbilt Commodores during the first quarter at Vanderbilt Stadium on September 25, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by Brett Carlsen/Getty Images) The 87th edition of the NFL draft is a wrap. A total of 262 players were selected. So which 10 franchises nailed the three-day event? It’s over. It’s all over. Yes, the 2022 NFL Draft has concluded and all 32 teams have wrapped up months of work. Now comes the process of grabbing those college prospects that weren’t among the 262 selections in Las Vegas. Hence, here’s a subjective look at who excelled over the past three days when it came to bolstering its roster. 10. Houston TexansIn the previous four drafts combined, the Houston Texans had selected one player. But that changed in a big way this year. Cornerback Derek Stangley Jr. (LSU) was chosen with the third overall selection. General manager Nick Caserio swung a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles and moved from 13th to 15th, picked up additional picks and grabbed...
Until Ryan Poles makes moves on the offensive line that turn heads, he’s going to come across as an Illinois politician talking about reforming the state’s tollway system. That’s to say it’s going to be hard to put much weight into what the first-year general manager has to say about the line until something is actually done. As needy as the Chicago Bears are on the offensive line — and at wide receiver — intense focus on an offense that has been a wreck the last couple seasons distracted from the reality the secondary was especially poor in 2021, creating a need that matched where the strength of the draft was Friday evening at the beginning of Round 2. Poles moved to help shore up that area, using his two second-round picks on Washington cornerback Kyler Gordon and Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker. Gordon figures to compete for a starting job opposite Jaylon Johnson, another cornerback the Bears tabbed in Round 2 from a Pac-12 school two years ago. Brisker ought to push for a spot next to Eddie Jackson...
The Ravens better hope defensive end Jermaine Johnson II can’t play. They had three chances to select the Florida State star and Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year on Thursday night but declined, instead picking Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton with the No. 14 overall pick and Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum at No. 25 in a wild first round that was full of surprises in Las Vegas. Both Hamilton and Linderbaum are highly rated, but Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta came into the draft saying the team’s top three needs were at pass rusher, offensive tackle and cornerback. The Ravens left without filling any of those positions and needing a No. 2 wide receiver after they traded Marquise Brown to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for the No. 23 overall pick in the first round, which they later traded to the Buffalo Bills for the 25th pick and a fourth-rounder. It sounds confusing, and Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson apparently wasn’t happy about seeing his best friend on the team sent off to Arizona. If the Ravens couldn’t...
The Kansas City Chiefs have two late first-round picks but they’re willing to tack on their pick in 2023 too in order to trade up in the 2022 NFL Draft. With Patrick Mahomes at the helm of the offense, the Kansas City Chiefs know that they’re in contention to win the Super Bowl. And after trading Tyreek Hill this offseason, that’s the type of mentality that general manager Brett Veach, head coach Andy Reid and the rest of the team’s brass are taking into the 2022 NFL Draft. That is to say, Kansas City is looking to get aggressive in the 2022 draft. After the Hill trade, the Chiefs have the No. 29 and 30 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. However, they are looking to move up via trade to try and target their guy, assumedly a replacement for Hill. And according to NFL insider Jay Glazer, they’re willing to go into next year’s draft capital to do so. They are trying. Even offering up next year’s 1 but that’s still like a 2 https://t.co/eanmCUluhb — Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer)...

ROUND of applause for Frankie Bridge, who has admitted that she and her footballer hubby Wayne often walk around their house naked. I bet you expected nothing less from me — perhaps on the basis of your unconscious bias because I’m Swedish and, as we all know, the Swedes are “sex mad”. 4A round of applause for Frankie Bridge, who has admitted that she and her footballer hubby Wayne often walk around their house nakedCredit: Instagram 4Ulrika confesses to being no different to Frankie when it comes to the dress code at home, but wonders why Bris 'constantly make the association between nudity and sex' Except why do we constantly make the association between nudity and sex? After all, it’s quite possible to have sex with the majority of your clothes on and it’s quite possible to walk to the kitchen nudie-rudie without engaging in a spot of intimacy.  So why do we always connect the two? I presume it’s the reason why the likes of Instagram refuse people the right to expose a bit of nipple — because it...
Blac Chyna claimed she was joking when she put a gun to her fiancé Rob Kardashian's head. She said the couple were 'laughing and joking and being silly' on the night of December 14, 2016, as they celebrated season 2 of Rob and Chyna being greenlit by E!’ parent company, NBC Universal. 'I was joking ... I would never shoot Rob,’ Chyna told jurors in Los Angeles Superior Court where she is suing members of the Kardashian family for having the reality show axed.  Chyna also said even though she left their home with their daughter, Dream, the following day, by New Year’s Eve she and Rob were starting to repair their relationship.  She claimed they went out for dinner and hiked together in Malibu and told the court Rob went with her to New York in January, 2017, for her personal appearance at a strip club.  Chyna popped into Chipotle for lunch during the trial in which she is seeking $108million in damages from members of the Kardashian family Chyna accuses the Kardashians of plotting to cancel her hit reality show Rob and...

Michael Jordan scored a playoff record 63 points against the Celtics at Boston Garden in April 1986, a performance Larry Bird famously described as “God disguised as Michael Jordan.” Jordan’s heroics still weren’t enough for the Chicago Bulls to stave off the Celtics in a 135-131 double-overtime loss, and they wound up getting swept in a three-game, opening-round series. Jordan’s one-man show remains one of the great moments in the Bulls’ rich playoff history, though it would be five more years before Jordan had enough pieces in place to win the first of six NBA titles. Rest assured DeMar DeRozan won’t be disguised as Michael Jordan when the Bulls take the court Sunday at Fiserv Forum in Game 1 of their first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks. But DeRozan was “Jordanesque” at times during the 2021-22 season, carrying the Bulls while they battled injuries and inconsistency. And if the sixth-seeded Bulls hope to pull off an upset, it probably is up to DeRozan to once again lead the way. The Bulls aren’t oblivious to the narrative surrounding them. Virtually no...
Sarah Palin is leading the polls in the special election for Alaska's sole House seat, a new poll shows. But the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice-presidential nominee continues to face significant hurdles in winning the seat. Palin is among 48 candidates seeking to fill the remaining months of the term won by the late GOP Rep. Don Young in 2020. Young spent nearly 49 years in the House, the most of any Republican lawmaker, and at the time of his death last month was the dean of the chamber. SARAH PALIN A FRONT-RUNNER IN ALASKA SPECIAL ELECTION, BUT PITFALLS ABOUND The race to replace Young coincides with a major change to Alaska's election rules. Rather than traditional party primaries and then a general election, the top four finishers on June 11 will go on to the next round, when ranked-choice voting is used. Palin's vast name recognition has given her an edge early on. According to a Must Read Alaska survey of nearly 1,000 Alaskans, Palin would pull 31% of the vote. The...

Cold reality struck early for Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in the frigid temperatures that turned the third round of the 86th Masters into a brutal ordeal. On the 1,661st hole of Tiger’s storied Augusta career, the greatest clutch putter the game has seen suffered the indignity of just his second four-putt on these treacherous greens and the first for 17 years. Woods tossed the putter at his bag following the rare lapse at the difficult par-four fifth. After all the fairy-tale stuff, here was the game inflicting a real blow to the solar plexus. The comeback of comebacks will continue to delight and enthral on Sunday but it became clear at that point that it will not end in the most improbable of victory outcomes this afternoon. Coach Erik Spoelstra was back with the Miami Heat for Friday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks at FTX Arena for the first time since being placed in NBA health-and-safety protocols ahead of last Sunday’s game against the Toronto Raptors. The Heat were required to test for COVID in order to fly across the border after that game. Spoelstra instead drove to Buffalo and then returned to South Florida on a private flights. He had been one of the few NBA coaches not previously be sidelined by coronavirus. “I mean, obviously, it was a strange week,” Spoelstra said before Friday’s game. “It was a little bit of a surprise. Look, a lot of people have been pretty hard by COVID. Thankfully I was not one of them. “I really would never have had any idea if we didn’t have to test for it while we were in Toronto. But I’m thankful at least I found out, so when I came back, I can make the appropriate arrangements with my family and everything.” In the interim, assistant coach Chris Quinn guided...
