MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A liver disease spreading among children has many parents around the world on edge. We now know more about the cases in Minnesota, where one child is in critical condition at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital. Becoming a mom to twins is alarming enough, but that was only the beginning for Stacie Haverkamp. “Their whole pregnancy, anticipating their arrival, (thinking) ‘How are we gonna do two?'” she said. Three weeks in, her Ethan was doing well, but Elsie was starting to slow down. “She started to turn a really yellow tint, and by day two I noticed her eyes start to change, and I thought this is not normal,” Haverkamp said. “They admitted us about 12 hours later and said she was in acute liver failure … The only option was doing the liver transplant.” Elsie did get a liver transplant at just 4 weeks old. The family last week did get a possible explanation. Looking back, doctors believe Elsie may have had the virus which is causing liver failure in kids around the world. Now...
She is known for defying her years. And Jane Seymour, 71, has insisted it is all natural as she has never had any cosmetic surgery, despite the prevalence of nips and tucks in Hollywood. A Facebook feud that spilled into the courtyard of a Trenton apartment complex left a 9-year-old girl dead, and authorities say they know the man who fired the shot. Isiah Roberts, 19, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses in the Friday night shooting that left SeQuoya Bacon-Jones dead, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office announced. SeQuoya was found having been struck by a single gunshot in Kingsbury Square at around 7:30 p.m., authorities said.  The shooting began with two women — including Roberts' sister — fighting over parenting styles on Facebook when one challenged the other to a fight in the courtyard, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said. Roberts pulled a gun on another man when the stray bullet struck SeQuoya, authorities said. Roberts led authorities on a foot pursuit in a wooded area off Route 129 near the Delaware River in Hamilton following a traffic stop, where he was ultimately arrested. "She was a bright 9-year-old girl who loved to live, loved to make people laugh, loved to make them smile," her mom said. "She was awesome and...

Two assistant principals at Rialto’s Wilmer Amina Carter High School threatened to expel a student unless she dropped a complaint that she was verbally abused and sexually assaulted by another student, according to a legal claim filed Thursday, March 3, by the girl’s attorney. The claim, a precursor to a lawsuit against the Rialto Unified School District, alleges the girl reported to Assistant Principal David Shenhan Yang in November that she had been “physically and verbally sexually assaulted and attacked” by a 17-year-old male student at the school the day before. Yang told the girl to wait outside his office so he could discuss the matter with Assistant Principal Natasha Harris-Dawson, according to the claim. The two then began pressuring the girl to drop her complaint, in part suggesting she was to blame. During a meeting in Yang’s office, with a security guard present, the girl was informed her alleged attacker was being harassed, called a pervert, and physically threatened by other students. The girl told them she didn’t know the students who were harassing the boy, nor did she...

CAST your mind back to when you were a kid and chances are, you also tried to weasel your out of doing your homework and completing your choices. But while it's pretty easy to catch our kids out in a lie, we don't always have the time to go through their work books or go traipsing around the house to find they haven't actually tidied their toys away - which is where nanny Kayla Whitley comes in. 2The nanny gives the kids two chances to confess to lyingCredit: TikTok/ trying2communicatewkayla 2She says it's important NOT to give the kids authority when you're quizzing them about liesCredit: TikTok/ trying2communicatewkayla Earlier this year, the full-time child-minder posted videos on TikTok explaining how she can instantly tell if the kids are lying to her. In one clip, Kayla catches one of the three kids playing on their iPad and asks if they've finished their school work. Scared that's she might get in trouble, the little girl just replies: "Yeah!" Her sibling then jumps in with: "No, she’s lying." FABULOUS BINGO: GET A...
By Travis Caldwell | CNN Authorities had been searching more than two years for Paislee Shultis, a 4-year-old reported missing from her legal guardian in Cayuga Heights in upstate New York, without any luck. But a new piece of information turned the entire investigation around, police said, leading them straight to a place they long suspected as her location but could never prove: the home of Paislee’s biological parents. “This tip was fresh, it was factual. The information provided was corroborated,” Saugerties Police Department Chief Joseph Sinagra told CNN’s Mark Morales. Paislee, now 6, was found alive Monday hidden underneath a staircase with her biological mother. The child has been returned to her legal guardian and older sister, police said, and her biological parents and grandfather were arrested. While authorities had been to the home on numerous occasions, they lacked the evidence needed to conduct a full search of the property. “We can’t execute a search warrant or act on hearsay, we have to act on factual information. And on this particular day, on February 14, we obtained factual information....
The streaming TV boom has led to a proliferation of prestige dramatic projects that, in an effort to become binge-watching sensations, expand their tales to unreasonable lengths. Adapted by J.P. Delaney from his own best-selling 2017 novel, The Girl Before falls squarely into that bloated-for-television category, taking a succinct thriller story and inflating it to such absurdly unwarranted lengths that any and all sense of suspense is sabotaged. What might have been a nifty 105-minute movie is thus instead a four-hour drag, stretched so thin that its raft of misdirections are plain for all to see, and its underlying emptiness is nearly impossible to ignore. Co-produced by BBC One (which aired it in Dec. 2021), HBO Max’s The Girl Before (Feb. 10) concerns a unique house, the bonkers architect who built it, and the two women he allows to make it their home. Edward (David Oyelowo) has fashioned his latest creation as the creepiest residence in London. A minimalist modern prison, it boasts undecorated gray stone walls, an inner courtyard with a solitary tree, and no keys or light switches,...

CHICAGO – Yesterday, Pastor Corey Brooks learned of an eight-year-old girl who was shot in Chicago. This shooting came after a week where six kids were killed within a 24 hour period. The pastor recorded this video while the eight-year-old girl was in surgery. He later learned that she tragically did not make it. What follows has been lightly edited. We strongly encourage you to watch the accompanying video so you may hear the pastor in his own words.  I just learned that over an hour ago, an eight-year-old girl was shot in the head. She's in surgery now fighting for her life, and the question is, is there any hope for Chicago?  This past Tuesday, six children were shot within 24 hours. In an earlier Rooftop Revelation, I said it was five kids when it was actually six. Is there any hope for Chicago?  The chaos, the lawlessness is so bad in Chicago that the criminals openly mock our police and our city leaders, and even our governor. Two criminals broke into two stores and stole the cash registers....
"Shauna likes to dress up like any other 22-year-old, but we go out together and she gets looks like, 'Oh wow, what is she doing? What is that kid doing?' And then I get the looks of 'How could you? How could you let your child dress like this?'" Patty added that she thinks about the harsh words "all the time." "It's just, I feel so ... I guess almost guilty that she will have to go through this for the rest of her life," Patty said. "It doesn't seem like there's going to be a time that is going to be okay, or is going to be normal for her." Shauna said that she feels "horrible" for her mother for what she is forced to endure. "I feel horrible for my mom because I don't deal with all the backlash because they don't think it's appropriate to come up to a child and say these things," Shauna said. "They think it's appropriate for them to come up to the mother, which isn't appropriate at all...
