Two assistant principals at Rialto’s Wilmer Amina Carter High School threatened to expel a student unless she dropped a complaint that she was verbally abused and sexually assaulted by another student, according to a legal claim filed Thursday, March 3, by the girl’s attorney. The claim, a precursor to a lawsuit against the Rialto Unified School District, alleges the girl reported to Assistant Principal David Shenhan Yang in November that she had been “physically and verbally sexually assaulted and attacked” by a 17-year-old male student at the school the day before. Yang told the girl to wait outside his office so he could discuss the matter with Assistant Principal Natasha Harris-Dawson, according to the claim. The two then began pressuring the girl to drop her complaint, in part suggesting she was to blame. During a meeting in Yang’s office, with a security guard present, the girl was informed her alleged attacker was being harassed, called a pervert, and physically threatened by other students. The girl told them she didn’t know the students who were harassing the boy, nor did she...

CAST your mind back to when you were a kid and chances are, you also tried to weasel your out of doing your homework and completing your choices. But while it's pretty easy to catch our kids out in a lie, we don't always have the time to go through their work books or go traipsing around the house to find they haven't actually tidied their toys away - which is where nanny Kayla Whitley comes in. 2The nanny gives the kids two chances to confess to lyingCredit: TikTok/ trying2communicatewkayla 2She says it's important NOT to give the kids authority when you're quizzing them about liesCredit: TikTok/ trying2communicatewkayla Earlier this year, the full-time child-minder posted videos on TikTok explaining how she can instantly tell if the kids are lying to her. In one clip, Kayla catches one of the three kids playing on their iPad and asks if they've finished their school work. Scared that's she might get in trouble, the little girl just replies: "Yeah!" Her sibling then jumps in with: "No, she’s lying." FABULOUS BINGO: GET A...

BESTOWING a name upon your child for the rest of their life is one of the biggest decisions a parent can ever make.  So it's not outrageous to think why some parents have second thoughts about their choice. 1A mum has shared how she wanted to change her daughter's name from Alexa as she is scared she will get bulliedCredit: Getty One mum has had second thoughts, to the point where she's approached her ex-partner about changing their two-year-old daughter's name, but he's not on board. The mum wrote on Mumsnet: "I'm coming to deeply regret DDs name, which is sad as it's a pretty name and really suits her. "However, I'm 100 percent certain she is going to be picked on, bullied and teased for being called this." She says she should have realised when choosing names, but her partner suggested it and she put down the oversight to hormones. "There are longer names which could still be shortened to her name now, but would at least give DD the option not to be called what she is," she...
Washington D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser said Monday she is directing the city's police department to use as much overtime as is necessary to combat gun violence following a bloody weekend in which a 6-year-old girl was killed by gunfire and shots were fired outside a Major League Baseball stadium.  Bowser announced her directive in a letter to the City Council.  "Over the past year, the District of Columbia has been grappling with a sustained increase in gun violence," Bowser wrote. The announcement comes amid a spike in crime across the city. As of Monday, the Metropolitan Police Department reported 103 killings. The city experienced 198 for all of 2020, according to police figures.  Bowser wrote that community members impacted by gun violence want to see a sustained police presence.  "My charge to our police officers is to keep our communities safe and bring to justice those responsible for terrorizing our...

Five men accused of sexually assaulting and trafficking a 10-year-old girl have remained free for months after police failed to fully investigate the crimes and pass details to prosecutors. The men allegedly committed heinous acts against the child, and despite having DNA evidence in three of the cases the Chicago Police Department did not pass any of the evidence to the State's Attorney's office.  Police arrested suspect Samuel Brown, 37, one day after the failures were revealed in a bombshell local news report by CBS2, but four of the alleged offenders remain at large. The network broadcast an interview last week with Jennifer Coleman, the first assistant at Cook County State's Attorney's Office, who claimed the CPD had failed to provide her office with evidence that could lead to charges against the men. Police reports detailing assaults by the men were uncovered by the network, which revealed at least three rape kits were performed in these five cases.  However, the State's Attorney's office had not been able to charge the men because police had not provided them with any of the kits. Police arrested...
