MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Gabriel Jesus scored four goals as Manchester City crushed Watford 5-1 to chalk off another win in its battle with Liverpool for the English Premier League title on Saturday. The Brazil striker also provided the assist for City’s other goal, a stunning strike by Rodri, as the defending champion increased its lead to four points. Hassane Kamara did get on the scoresheet for the visitors but Roy Hodgson’s relegation-threatened side was no match for City, which was relentless and efficient in attack. Seven points off safety and having played more games than the sides immediately above them, the next-to-last Hornets are running out of time. Such was City’s dominance, the team could ease off in the closing stages knowing the onus was on Liverpool to respond against Everton on Sunday. It also gave City’s players a chance to conserve some energy ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League semifinal first leg against Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Jesus could savor his fine riposte to speculation about his future in the light of strong reports linking City with Borussia Dortmund striker...
Former President Donald Trump is pleased that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy did a 180 to support him after telling fellow GOP leaders 'I've had it with this guy' after Jan. 6th, in the latest strange turn after drama over leaked tapes. McCarthy, who was furious with Trump on Jan. 6th but has served as a key Trump loyalist in Congress since, phoned the former president following the release of stunning tapes that captured internal GOP leadership discussions after the Capitol riot, according to the Washington Post.  It might be expected that Trump would be fuming at the fellow Republican, whom he once called 'My Kevin,' after hearing McCarthy's tough talk with fellow House members.   That includes McCarthy telling fellow lawmakers 'What he did is unacceptable. Nobody can defend that, and nobody should defend it,' in a January 10, 2021 call.  But a source confirmed to DailyMail.com that Trump isn't sore at McCarthy.  Former President Donald Trump isn't upset at leaked tapes that reveal House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy  In fact, Trump was 'glad the Republican leader didn’t follow through,...
Scott Hall, professional wrestling’s “Bad Guy” who revolutionized the industry as a founding member of the New World Order faction, has died. He was 63. WWE announced his death Monday night and aired a tribute video on its flagship “Raw” program. Hall, who also wrestled for WWE as Razor Ramon, was a two-time inductee into the company’s Hall of Fame. His longtime friend and fellow NWO member Kevin Nash wrote on social media that Hall was taken off life support on Monday following complications from hip replacement surgery. Former WWE and WCW star Sean Waltman tweeted Monday, “ He’s gone.” Hall battled alcohol abuse for years and chronicled his decades of substance issues in an 2011 ESPN documentary in which he said, “I should have been dead 100 times.” The wrestling world mourned Hall and some WWE stars paid tribute to his mannerisms and catchphrases on “Raw.” “Scott Hall was a towering figure among his contemporaries — a legend inside and outside the ring,” WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley tweeted. In the ring, few professional wrestlers oozed machismo quite...
BEIJING (AP) — Francesco Friedrich’s pursuit of the first Olympic bobsled double-double is off to the right kind of start. That said, Johannes Lochner is clearly not going to let his German teammate win easily. Seeking a fourth Olympic gold medal, Friedrich and his team of Thorsten Margis, Candy Bauer and Alexander Schueller took the lead at the midpoint of the four-man race at the Beijing Games in 1 minute, 57 seconds flat. That’s a mere 0.03 seconds ahead of Lochner — the first-heat leader — and his team of Florian Bauer, Christopher Weber and Christian Rasp. Canada’s Justin Kripps is third, finishing in 1:57.38 with Ryan Sommer, Cam Stones and Benjamin Coakwell in his sled. No one else is within a half-second of the lead; the sled driven by Germany’s Christoph Hafer is fourth, 0.55 seconds behind Friedrich. There have been six instances of a bobsled driver winning gold in two-man and four-man at the same Olympics: Andreas Ostler in 1952, Eugenio Monti in 1968, Meinhard Nehmer in 1976, Wolfgang Hoppe in 1984, Andre Lange in 2006 and...
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Former Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernández was arrested at the request of the United States on drug trafficking charges Tuesday and a Honduran judge will decide if he is eventually extradited to stand trial in the U.S. While Hernández was president, he was untouchable for Honduras’ co-opted justice system and successive U.S. administrations made no move alienate him. The exceptions were prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, who spent the last several years working their way up through Honduran drug trafficking organizations to the person many believed was the inevitable pinnacle — Hernández. Most of the allegations those prosecutors have made against Hernández come from two trials, that of Juan Antonio “Tony” Hernández, the president’s brother and himself a former Honduran congressman, and Geovanny Fuentes Ramírez. Both men were part of a sprawling drug trafficking case first filed back in 2015. They were both convicted on drug trafficking charges and given life sentences — Fuentes Ramírez just last week. Prosecutors have labeled Juan Orlando Hernández a “co-conspirator” in the same case. WHAT CHARGES WOULD...

We are especially grateful for the doctors and nurses that cared for him. Please know that meant the world to him.' Democrats will vote on a resolution Tuesday that will raise the debt ceiling by $2.5 trillion - a day before Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the U.S. could go into default.  Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on the floor Tuesday that the hike would allow the U.S. to borrow enough money to fund its expenses into 2023 - after the midterm elections.   Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell struck a deal last week, where they attached a rule-change to another bill that would allow the debt ceiling resolution to go forward with a simple majority vote - instead of the typical 60 votes needed for cloture.  This allowed Democrats to avoid a Republican filibuster threat - and permitted McConnell to call it a win, as he wanted only Democrats to vote for the hike - enabling the GOP to go after Democrats for the debt in the run-up to the 2022 midterms.  Still, former President Donald Trump and other Republicans grumbled that McConnell allowed Democrats to utilize a fast-track approach, instead of using the more cumbersome process of...
By Ted Barrett and Veronica Stracqualursi | CNN Former Senate majority leader and 1996 Republican presidential nominee Bob Dole will lie in state in the US Capitol Rotunda on Thursday, congressional leaders said in an announcement. “Senator Dole was an extraordinary patriot, who devoted his entire life to serving our nation with dignity and integrity,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in a joint statement with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Dole died Sunday at age 98. He had announced in February that he was being treated for advanced lung cancer. In their statement, Schumer, a Democrat from New York, said he always admired the Kansas Republican’s “steadfast advocacy for veterans and for Americans with disabilities and his love for his country.” “Senator Dole exemplified the greatest generation, and while I never had the pleasure of serving in the Senate with him, his reputation and his achievements, and most of all his character preceded him.” The joint announcement also included remarks from Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell who said, “We look forward to honoring his life and legacy at the Capitol.”...
Congress returns to Washington this week after Thanksgiving break with two deadlines looming - they must pass a new spending bill by Friday to avert a government shutdown and pass fresh debt ceiling legislation by December 15.  And while President Joe Biden's $1.75 trillion Build Back Better bill passed the House before the break, now the Senate must pick it up. The most urgent matter is the funding bill, with House leaders expected to introduce a stopgap measure that would fund the government through late January, according to Punchbowl News.  The House of Representatives returns Tuesday and a stop-gap spending bill is expected to be introduced on the floor that day, with a potential vote Wednesday. Video showing Vladimir Putin coughing during a meeting with Kremlin ministers has emerged a day after the incident forced him to deny he has Covid-19. Further fueling speculation, the Russian leader has today pulled out of a G20 conference on Afghanistan. Putin, 69, tried to play down the health fears and insisted he has high antibody immunity. PARIS (AP) — Rennes scored just before and after the break to beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 on Sunday and hand the runaway league leader its first defeat of the season. Gaetan Laborde put Rennes ahead on the stroke of halftime after PSG had started to get on top, with Lionel Messi hitting the crossbar with a freekick in the 31st minute. Laborde then turned provider in the 46th for midfielder Flavien Tait. PSG had won its opening eight games but had been fortunate in some and needed injury-time goals to edge a win against Lyon and Metz. Rennes has been a tough place to visit in recent seasons and was again so for different reasons. Because of heavy wind and rain in the Paris area, the team was unable to fly to Brittany on Saturday night and instead arrived at the stadium by coach and car. Sports daily L’Equipe’s website said Kylian Mbappe, Achraf Hakimi, Keylor Navas and Neymar all drove. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi, who scored a brilliant first goal for PSG in the Champions League on...

Retired Marine Corps bomb technician Johnny Joey Jones, who lost both legs fighting in Afghanistan, said Friday on "The Five" that President Joe Biden's continued failure to lead as commander-in-chief leaves veterans wondering if they were betrayed, while the Delaware Democrat appears to blame everyone but himself for his failures. "It's not about blaming Biden for the crisis. We can talk about that. It's about being a leader," Jones said. "Strong leaders make bad decisions. Every good leader makes a bad decision… but they lead through it." As a leader, President Biden cowers. He blames Afghans, he blames Trump and he blames his own generals –  He says the 'buck stops with me', I took the consensus decision –  You know how you pivot right out of that. You don't look like a strong leader." VideoJones said Biden "yelled his way" through a "victory speech" – which was not helpful in trying to convince the American people he understands the gravity of the situation: "It's not just the fact that we pulled out of Afghanistan. It's not just the...
