Nothing is safe from inflation - not even toilet paper.    As prices continue to surge in the US amid amid inflation levels not seen in nearly fifty years, toilet stalwart Charmin is the latest brand to downsize its products to keep out of the red. American shoppers looking to pick up an 18-pack of the toilet paper giant's ultra soft option will find that the bundle now contains 244 two-ply sheets, instead of the 264 seen on the toiletry's packaging earlier in the year. The decrease, which was addressed Tuesday by Charmin brass, amounts to roughly a roll-and-a-half.    The brand's super mega roll 18-pack, meanwhile, has also been similarly reduced in recent weeks to 366 sheets, from a previous 396 sheets per roll - a loss of about two rolls. The prices for the products have largely remained the same.    The development follows nightmarish toilet roll shortages seen in 2020, spurred by pandemic-related panic purchases.  Now, consumers will see a different sort of shortage in the paper product aisle of their local grocery, as companies reduce the size or amount of their products to cover...
Cooper also told the outlet that his show is "designed to give you a vacation from CNN, you know what I mean? I'm not preaching anything up there, and I'm not knocking anybody. If I do a thing like on 'Elected,' which we would always do during the elections, and I’d bring out Trump and Hillary to fight, and both of them would get wiped out! That's what was funny about it. If you're in the political theater, you’d better be able to take a joke. So, that’s OK. I don't mind the satire of it, but I don't ever go up there and tell you who to vote for." Pushback Well, as many of them are wont to do, a number of leftists didn't take kindly to Cooper declaring that rock should be free of politics and ripped him for it on Facebook: "Alice Cooper can go back to golfing and using music as a nicey nice gothic entertainment moment," one commenter said. "Otherwise we need people who put their money and iZod shirts on the...

SANTA CLARA — When the 49ers moved up in the draft to put starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo out to pasture, they were hailed as a team with an ability to see the big picture. The beauty of drafting Trey Lance at No. 3 overall out of North Dakota State was that Garoppolo was deemed a good enough sport to play along in the penultimate year of his contract while the 49ers waited for Lance to make his move. It never happened. Garoppolo entrenched himself as the starter after Lance tailed off following a few eye-popping downfield throws early in training camp. Instead, Lance was put on the backburner, the details of his development hidden in closed practice sessions as well as an organizational decision to prevent media exposure for their 21-year-old quarterback. The 49ers are 7-6, in playoff position and Garappolo has been more of a solution than a problem. Garoppolo’s play, as well as his grace in handling the situation, has strengthened his grip in the locker room. There is a quarterback of the future...
Paul George and the Clippers could do nothing this Sunday against the Warriors flying over the NBA from the start of the season (105-90). Without Nicolas Batum, who tested positive for the Covit-19 last week and was in solitary confinement for 8 days, the Los Angeles score could never have been more favorable, without a solution to the attack, ahead of a new fire by Stephen Curry (33)’s artistry (33). Points). The start of the meeting was played at the wrong pace, with the first half (44-42) disappointing for both teams, not really inspiring the Staples center floor. It was only after the break that the Warriors-led game intensified. On the contrary, the clippers provoked very little attack and there was a lot of waste in the shoot. For their part, the Warriors had an explosion. As usual, they were most relevant in the third quarter (the best in the NBA). With a lead of over eleven points they immediately widened the gap. To overcome the storm, the Clippers set four deadlines in six...

A safari tour guide was left stunned after witnessing an epic battle between two of Africa's biggest beasts that saw a rhino flip a one-tonne buffalo 'head over heels'. Braden Colling, 24, was coming towards the end of a tour in Kariega Game Reserve, South Africa, when he spotted a herd of buffalo looking agitated. He then saw a 2.5-tonne white rhino bull, who appeared to be encroaching on the group. Local health departments around the U.S. are preparing to roll out COVID-19 vaccine boosters next week, but they are still unsure whether or not they will be able to distribute the shots. The White House announced last month that booster shots would become available for Americans starting on September 20 due to data suggesting waning efficacy of the initial shots. The announcement was pending approval from regulators, though, and it appears the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) advisory committee may not be able to determine the safety and effectiveness of the third shots by the targeted rollout date. This has left local health officials in limbo, wanting to be prepared in case the shots do receive approval, but unsure if they will be going into arms starting Monday.  COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are set to roll out as early as Monday, but they are still pending regulatory approval. This has left many local health departments preparing for vaccine distribution they are not sure will occur. Pictured: A man receives a...

Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine is notably less effective six months after the second dose is administered, a new study finds.  Researchers from King's College London in the UK analyzed COVID-19 testing data and found the vaccine's effectiveness falls from 88 percent to 77 percent after five to six months. They could not determine whether the lower effectiveness caused an increase in hospitalizations or deaths. The findings could spell trouble in the U.S., where more than 100 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine - especially as the Indian 'Delta' variant continues to spread, causing cases to surge.  Federal officials hope that plans to administer boosters in September - pending approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will help shore up protection. A King's College study found that the effectiveness of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the most common in the United States, drops for 88% after one month to 74% after five to six months  The effectiveness begins to slowly wane over time, according to the study, and drops below 75% after five months The British...
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott did not announce any new restrictions but he warned they could be coming without more people getting vaccinated. Scott said discussions are underway on whether to require vaccinations for city employees and to provide incentives for them to get the shot. The mayor is not ready to announce a vaccine mandate for city employees; he will make a decision on whether to do that soon. President Joe Biden said on Thursday that he and First Lady Jill Biden plan on receiving COVID-19 vaccine booster shots when available in September. At 78 years old, Biden was eligible for the vaccine as early as December 2020, and received his first shot on December 21, he told Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos. The third doses will be rolled out starting September 20, and any American who received either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine is eligible for the third shot eight months after receiving the second. Because Biden received his final dose on on January 11, he will be eligible for a booster when they become available. Health experts believe booster shots are necessary due to the waning immunity of the vaccines and the ability for the Indian 'Delta' variant to cause breakthrough cases.  President Joe Biden (pictured) said during an interview with Good Morning America on Thursday that he and his wife, Jill, plan to receive vaccine boosters when they become available in September Third doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine will be available on September...

Vice President Kamala Harris landed a seventh job on Monday with the White House dispatching her to Pennsylvania to sell President Joe Biden's Child Tax Credit. It's part of the administration's push to mark what they are calling Child Tax Credit Awareness Day to highlight a component of Biden's American Rescue Plan. The president himself has no public events on his schedule but the White House did post a video to its social media accounts of Biden talking about the tax credit.  Harris will take the lead on selling it, giving remarks on the Child Tax Credit in Pittsburgh, which sits in the important presidential election state of Pennsylvania, and then hosting a roundtable with union leaders and Labor Secretary Marty Walsh.  The American Rescue Plan increased the Child Tax Credit from $2,000 per child to $3,000 per child for children over the age of six and from $2,000 to $3,600 for children under the age of six, and raised the age limit from 16 to 17. Ukraine fears more than 100,000 Russian troops will be in place on its borders, ready to invade, by the end of the month. A Ukrainian government report, obtained by the Daily Mail, estimates the Kremlin will deploy up to 30,000 extra soldiers, accompanied by more tanks and rocket systems, in support of 80,000 Russian troops already awaiting orders to advance. The figures are based on intelligence intercepts and satellite photographs as troops and equipment travel hundreds of miles across Russia to amass around its neighbour. Moscow has claimed it has no plans to invade and is merely carrying out military exercises, but Kiev also worries the Kremlin could deploy nuclear missiles to Crimea, the peninsula Russia forcibly annexed in 2014, Ukraine's defence minister said yesterday.
