MAKING a cup of tea is second nature to most Brits, but according to one expert some of us have been doing it all wrong. Dr Andrew Stapley, of Loughborough University, is a chemical engineer and has undertaken plenty of research to find out the science behind the perfect cuppa. 1A scientist has revealed the correct way to make a cup of tea, and you have probably been doing it wrongCredit: Getty And rather controversially he revealed that it is the milk that should be entering your cup first rather than the teabag. Stapley says that if you pour milk into your mug once the hot water is already in there it will heat up unevenly, the Mirror reports. This will cause proteins to ‘denature’ or alter their natural quality, the main reason you may find unsightly floaters in your brew and can also impact the taste. But while this might be the scientific way to enjoy tea, it is a big no-no when it comes to etiquette. on Food and DrinkPLATE IT UP I was the Queen's chef...
