Ashley Tabor was looking forward to graduating with her Fair Lawn High School classmates Tuesday night. Instead, she remained hospitalized in intensive care with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain caused by a freak accident in Ridgewood. Ashley and her friends were walking to their car along a grassy stretch of Crest Road with no sidewalks around midnight Saturday when she did a tumble and fell from a four-foot wall, family friend Pamela Troisi said. “Ashley is an amazing athlete,” she said. “Over the weekend she did what I have seen her do hundreds of times. “I’m sure in her mind she’s thinking, ‘I’m on grass not cement so I’ll be fine’ -- not realizing there was a 4-foot drop between the grass they were on and the actual street.” Ashley’s condition has improved since the weekend, Troisi said. “The brain bleeding is subsiding [and] there are no spinal cord injuries and no brain damage,” she said. Troisi has established a GoFundMe account to help Ashley’s family with medical bills and other expenses. GO TO: Ashley Tabor's Medical...
Half the senior class of a Texas high school has been suspended over a "harmless" prank that some parents have called an overreaction by school administrators.  Around 40 seniors at Comfort High School received two-week suspensions for the May 13 practical joke in which students placed plastic forks on the school football field while others entered the school after hours.  "It was a harmless senior prank that all of us parents knew 100% what was going on," Hope Jay, who has two seniors at the school, told WOAI-TV. "They had planned as a group, you know, 40 students, which is half the senior class… to fork the field, which is putting plastic forks in the dirt." Some students went further and entered the school after-hours and engaged in vandalism. The school is located 49 miles north of San Antonio. "For the most part, there were balloons, there was a deer that went crooked on the wall, there was some saran wrap, there's been no damage, no destruction, no graffiti, no defacing of property, and no police reports," Jay said. She...

We were talking Fran about the growth problems in your District, District Six. And you have a new middle school approved, right? Bush: Yes. Leahy: When will that come online? Bush: So this is the thing I think a lot of people really don’t understand. MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- South Bay mother Andrea Guevara found a fun way to celebrate the achievements of high school seniors amid the coronavirus pandemic. "During this time, it kind of feels like we're forgotten," high school senior Angeline Madriaga shares."We worked for the past 12 years to lead up to this moment," Sobrato High School senior Kira Levandoski said. Guevara wanted to fill the void.Drawing inspiration from an idea she saw in other communities, she created a Facebook page to help make sure that all graduates are celebrated. The Adopt a High School Senior page connects graduating students with members of the community. After filling out a form and listing some of their favorite things, graduates are treated to gifts by their new "adoptive" families.
