There’s no question: Minnesotans are better off now than they were a year ago thanks to President Joe Biden.” The press release from the DFL lauded Biden for the “first majority non-white Cabinet in history” and for having the “most diverse Administration in history.” It also shared Biden’s accomplishment of having the “most significant…economic impact of any first-year president.” The DFL also outlined what it believes are other Biden successes, like lowering the unemployment rate, having the “greatest year of job creation in history”, and for having the lowest child poverty...

Just before Christmas it was reduced from ten to seven days, but as hospitals and emergency services struggle with absent staff, more changes have been called for. Today Professor Tim Spector, from the Zoe Covid Symptom Study, said Omicron seems to be affecting people for a shorter time. He added: "It shows that the restrictions, social distancing, possibly mask wearing has had a greater effect on colds and flu than omicron, which is even better at infecting us. "It does suggest that these symptoms are of shorter duration than they are of Delta. "Can't put an exact figure on it, but that's eyeballing the data - that's what it looks like. Former President Barack Obama released a statement Thursday marking the anniversary of the January 6 protest, lamenting that a “sizable portion of voters” agree with the claims that he believes fueled the protest; he also warned that “our democracy is at greater risk today than it was back then.” “One year ago, a violent attack on our Capitol made it clear just how fragile the American experiment in democracy really is,” Obama began. Samuel Corum/Getty Images “And while the broken windows have been repaired and many of the rioters have been brought to justice, the truth is that our democracy is at greater risk today than it was back then,” he asserted. “Although initially rejected by many Republicans, the claims that fanned the flames of violence on January 6th have since been embraced by a sizeable portion of voters and elected officials – many of whom know better,” he said, complaining about election integrity efforts taken by State legislatures: State legislatures across the country have not only made it harder to vote, but some have tried to assert power over...

Katie Couric made her return to the Today show Tuesday — where she was grilled by the show’s current host about violating a “cardinal rule” of journalism. During an interview in the show’s first hour on Tuesday, Savannah Guthrie pressed Couric — returning to Today, where she hosted for 15 years until leaving for CBS in 2006 — about a revelation from her new memoir which has opened Couric up to criticism. Couric disclosed, in the book, that she withheld part of an interview with Ruth Bader Ginsburg in which the late Justice scolded protesters who kneel during the national anthem. “How did you justify that?” Guthrie asked Couric. “It violates a cardinal rule of journalism.” “I think what people don’t realize is we make editorial decisions like that all the time,” Couric said. “And I chose to talk about this and put it in the book for a discussion.” Couric went on to defend her decision by arguing that she’d included Ginsburg’s most important comments. Guthrie, though, was unmoved — noting that Couric wrote that she made that editorial...
