FROM grooming and daily walks to everything inbetween, there's a lot to remember when it comes to looking after a pet. However, it seems there's one very important thing that dog owners forget to do - and that's washing their pooch's food bowl. 1A new study found that forgetting to wash your pooch's food bowl could not only be affecting your dog's health, but yours as well. Pictured, stock imageCredit: Getty As reported by The Mirror, a new study carried out by the Food and Drug Association (FDA) found that forgetting this simple task could not only be affecting your dog's health, but yours as well. The study investigated dog owners' feeding habits and the impact of FDA's hygiene rules on dog food dish contamination - and the results may surprise you. Just 12% of 417 dog owners surveyed admitted to washing their pooch's food bowl every day, while 22% clean it once a week. But perhaps shockingly of all, only 18% wash it every three months - and in some cases, don't bother at all. According to the FDA,...
EVEN though it feels like we spend all-day, everyday doing laundry, we hardly ever seem to make a dent in the washing basket. So it's hardly surprising that we don't wash our PJs all that often - even though we wear them as much (if not MORE) than our favourite t-shirts and jeans. 1Fashion Marketing expert Harpa Gretarsdóttir says you should wash your PJs after three or four nights - or once a week if you bathe before bedCredit: Getty Well according to the experts at IceWear, this is something we should be doing every three to four days - or at least, once a week. Whoops. Fashion Marketing expert Harpa Gretarsdóttir explained: "Pyjamas are the only intimate clothing we tend to wear multiple times as standard, with many wearing pyjamas as the only layer and without underwear beneath. "This intimacy against our skin and parts of our bodies, for 6 to 8 hours a night under bedding, makes them a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and other germs." Just like you wouldn't repeatedly wear the same sweaty gym...

Ukraine has said Chernobyl could be 48 hours away from leaking radiation, and called on Russia to observe an urgent ceasefire to allow for repairs to be made.  The country's nuclear company Energoatom earlier warned that radioactive substances could be released if an electricity outage at the site continues any longer, as it makes it impossible to cool spent nuclear fuel. Russian forces captured the plant and cut the power in the early days of the invasion. It has not been possible to make repairs at the plant since. The French government said it was in contact with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and was urging Russia to co-operate. 'Reserve diesel generators have a 48-hour capacity to power the Chornobyl NPP,' Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in a warning on Twitter. 'After that, cooling systems of the storage facility for spent nuclear fuel will stop, making radiation leaks imminent.' Ukraine has warned that radioactive substances could be released from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. I’ve just finished a second round of antibiotics to treat Lyme disease, but I am still experiencing symptoms such as burning skin, muscle pain and shivers. Are the antibiotics making things worse – or is Lyme disease not the problem after all? Lyme disease is a nasty bacterial infection caught from a tick bite. But not every tick will carry the bacteria, and even the ones that do might not infect you. The bite has to remain in the skin for a certain amount of time in order to infect. There are between 2,000 and 3,000 cases every year in England and Wales – with areas such as the New Forest, South Downs and Scottish Highlands the highest risk due to the ample forests and grasslands, but you can get an infected tick bite anywhere. Early signs of the condition include a telltale bullseye-like rash and flu symptoms like muscle aches, nausea and headaches. GPs can confirm the diagnosis using blood tests, but may need to repeat these after six weeks. Often, doctors will repeat the blood test several times...

YOU know us Brits - we moan constantly about the bad weather and when the unbearably hot days do eventually roll around, we just don't know how to cope. And if you fancy getting some shut-eye during the heatwave, it makes sense to ditch the PJs - right? 1Sleeping naked in a heatwave could actually make you HOTTERCredit: Getty Well according to one expert, we might have been taking the WRONG approach all this time - as they claim sleeping naked can actually make you hotter. Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Julius Patrick, Lead Sleep Physiologist at Bupa’s Cromwell Hospital, said going to bed without clothes can worsen your sleep quality. They explained: "When you sleep naked, sweat actually collects on the body and then remains there. "However hot it is when you drift off, remember your body temperature will drop during the night. People may be better off sleeping in clothing rather than sleeping naked Dr Guy Leschziner "If you’re wearing light clothes to sleep in, it soaks up any sweat you have, which can cool you down." What's more, Dr...
For most people, the past 12 months have been really tough, but some businesses have thrived — it seems 2020 was a fantastic year for supplement manufacturers, with nearly £500 million in UK sales, up a record 14 per cent compared with 2019. We swallowed their products in record numbers partly because we’re all more health conscious, but also in the hope of protecting ourselves and our loved ones from Covid-19.  But to what extent was this money down the drain? Which of us is really lacking in vitamins or minerals? Let’s start with vitamin D, which I have been taking in pill form over the winter months.  The Curtin University team suggests that as well as vitamin and mineral deficiency being more common in people who are overweight or obese, this lack of nutrients may in turn be contributing to over-eating, causing a vicious circle where your brain, knowing it is short on crucial nutrients, will make you eat more unconsciously, to make up the shortfall Vitamin D is good for your bones, but it is also vital...
