Wide receiver Antonio Brown released a statement telling his side of the story on his bizarre exit from the Buccaneers during their game against the Jets. The unconventional breakup between Antonio Brown and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continues to deliver twists. On Wednesday, Brown released a statement detailing what happened during Tampa Bay’s game against the Jets from his perspective. The lengthy tale claims Brown was pressured by the coaching staff to play through a painful ankle injury. The receiver says the team gave him a “dangerous painkiller” before the game at MetLife Stadium. Within the dog-pound fraternity of the Minnesota Timberwolves 2021-22 roster, the disposition of D’Angelo Russell is a noticeably feline outlier.  The other stars that comprise the Wolves’ Big 3, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards, are naturally gregarious, effusive to the cusp of sloppiness, expressing their sentiments. Most of the rest of the crew — culture-creator Patrick Beverley, dervishes Jarred Vanderbilt and Josh Okogie, sharpshooter Malik Beasley, rookie Leandro Bolmaro — find their natural rhythm in a barking, cavorting environment.  DLo is different. By nature he is dismissive of the canned back-and-forth of media public relations. He is prim and exacting in his habits, lithe and silky in his movements, and professorial in mien, as if auditioning for the Lawrence Fishburne role in “Higher Learning.” In the tumult of NBA hoops, he is constantly surveying the court with a serene dispatch, gliding from station to station, his expert dribble attaching the ball to his hand like a yo-yo. Ideally it wouldn’t make a sound.  Thus far this season, DLo has been an unlikely difference-maker during one of the most enjoyable stints...
President Joe Biden referred to legendary baseball pitcher Satchel Paige during his Veterans’ Day speech on Thursday referring to him as “the great negro.” “You know, I’ve adopted the attitude of the great negro at the time, pitcher in the negro leagues, went on to become a great pitcher in the pros, in the Major League Baseball after Jackie Robison, his name was Satchel Paige,” Biden said as he began his speech. The president appeared to have stumbled over his rhetoric, retelling a story he has repeated throughout the latter years of his political career about Paige, who pitched a winning game on his 47th birthday. The story goes, as Biden tells it, that the press asked Paige about how he felt pitching a winning game at such an advanced age. Biden quoted Paige saying, “How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?” “I’m 50 years old,” said Biden, before continuing his speech noting “all kidding aside.” Biden also told a version of this story to Pope Francis at the Vatican, comparing the pontiff and...

The rising star sat down with Morgan, explaining he’s just an ole country boy from Shreveport, Louisiana, who has a love for all genres of music. “‘Get Low, Get High’ was actually one of the first songs that I wrote during the pandemic,”...

Celebrity Parents Whove Spoken Out in Support of Their LGBTQ+ Kids Apple Sinks ‘Submarine Patent,’ Escapes $308.5 Million Verdict Unlike basketball, the United States baseball team isn't filled with the top professionals from the sport.  The team is an unusual mix of minor leaguers and veterans not in MLB anymore. Players who used to be relevant in MLB, like Todd Frazier and Edwin Jackson, star on this team.  This Team USA has put together a nice run and finds itself in the Olympic gold medal game against Japan, the host. The Americans are +155 underdogs at BetMGM. The game begins Saturday morning at 6 a.m. Eastern time.  Nick Martinez is a good story to sum up the players who comprise this team. Martinez pitched with the Texas Rangers from 2014-17, with an unimpressive 4.77 ERA. Since 2018 he has been in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball and has pitched well for the Fukoka SoftBank Hawks this season. He'll be the starting pitcher for the Americans in the gold medal game.  Olympic baseball has been an off-and-on sport at the games,...
LOS ANGELES — Jason Vosler didn’t have the game-winning hit, make a game-saving defensive play or score the go-ahead run, but after the Giants rallied for four runs to stun Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen for the second consecutive night, Vosler was the hero. “I would encourage everyone to take a look at Vosler’s secondary (lead) on the back end of the (Thairo) Estrada groundball,” Giants manager Gabe Kapler said. “Both the lead and the secondary, I thought it was the most important play of the game. It’s something that we teach as part of our fundamental game, but it’s just something you don’t see that often.” Yes, gaining a few extra feet on a secondary lead was the defining moment of a remarkable 5-3 comeback victory. It’s July 22, far past the time the Giants were expected to fade into mediocrity, yet they used a four-game series in Los Angeles against the reigning World Series champions to grow their lead to 3.0 games in the National League West. Plays like the one Vosler made to extend...
DENVER (CBS4) – For the first time since landing baseball’s All-Star Game, Gov. Jared Polis and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock are sharing the behind-the-scenes story of how it all came together. “I will never forget when staff said to me, ‘the commissioner of Major League Baseball wants to get you on a call,'” said Hancock. READ MORE: A List Of Events In Denver Connected To The MLB All-Star Game CBS4 Political Specialist Shaun Boyd interviews Mayor Michael Hancock. (credit: CBS) He had been on the phone with the governor for weeks trying to lure the game to Denver after Major League Baseball made a bombshell announcement that it was pulling out of Atlanta, Georgia just three months before game day over a controversial election law there. “In my mind I knew he’s not calling to say, ‘you’re not getting it.’ He’s calling to say, ‘we’re coming,'” recalled Hancock. It was the kind of economic boost the state and city sorely needed. What it didn’t need, Hancock says, was the controversy that came with it. “Obviously we wanted to understand more...

Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark in "Game of Thrones." HBO Some people were frustrated when the series finale of "Game of Thrones" ended with King Bran. That choice is totally fine, but his line "Why do you think I came all this way?" soured it. This line plays for a laugh, but it's incredibly consequential about Bran's greenseeing abilities. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. As a "Game of Thrones" expert (and author of an unofficial guide to the series), I have a lot of messy thoughts about the choices (both good and bad) made in the conclusion of HBO's epic story. But one thing from the series finale still rankles me to this day, and that's the moment when Bran tells Tyrion: "Why do you think I came all this way?"  On its face, the choice for Bran Stark to wind up as King of the Six Kingdoms was a solid narrative conclusion to the story. But the "Game of Thrones" creators completely undermined this move by implying that Bran can see into the future,...

LOS ANGELES, USA, March 30 (.) – “Game of Thrones” and the fictional world of Westeros will bring to life a play that producers hope to bring to Broadway, London’s West End and Australia from 2023, they announced. on Tuesday. The play will tell the story of the Great Harrenhal Tournament, a competition that took place 16 years before the events narrated in the HBO series “Game of Thrones,” featuring popular characters from the series such as Ned Stark and Jaime Lannister. The tournament was mentioned in the original series and in George RR Martin’s novels, “A Song of Ice and Fire”, which inspired the show. “Few in Westeros knew the carnage would come when they gathered at Harrenhal to watch the kingdom’s best knights compete in a great tournament,” Martin said in a statement. “Now, finally, we can tell the whole story,” added Martin, who is working with playwright Duncan MacMillan on the stage production. “Game of Thrones,” a medieval fantasy series, was a global phenomenon for HBO, a unit of AT&T Inc. The network is also developing several...
Game of Thrones is getting a new kind of spinoff, this time on Broadway. The production, which The Hollywood Reporter called a “stage show spectacular,” will act as a prequel to the A Song of Ice and Fire series, but will feature some fan favorite characters. The show is being developed by A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin and will tell the story of The Great Tourney at Harrenhal, one of the most important events in the A Song of Ice and Fire universe. Fans who know their recent Westerosi history may remember that this tournament was the setting for the events that helped spark Robert’s Rebellion, where he dethroned Aerys II Targaryen, AKA “the Mad King,” and took the throne with Ned Stark by his side. The play will be written by Duncan MacMillan, who adapted George Orwell’s 1984 for the stage, and will be directed by Dominic Cooke (The Courier). It will focus on conversations and plots behind the scenes of the tournament, and it will probably involve some fighting as well. ...
In a game filled with episodic underachievement from the Houston Cougars, this moment might have been viewed as just one more disappointment on the way to departing the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Trailing Rutgers by five points with 2:53 left in their second round game, star guard Quentin Grimes approached the foul line with an opportunity to cut that down to the margin of a single 3-point shot. Grimes, normally 77 percent reliable, missed both free throws. That could have been it for Houston, the American Athletic Conference champs and the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Midwest Region. Grimes is nothing, though, if not resilient. He fought for his own rebound, restarted the Cougars offense and, within seconds, fired in a 3-pointer that appeared to convince Rutgers that it would not be holding that lead. Which is how Quentin Grimes came to be the best basketball story of the Sweet 16. “I don’t think I’ve ever been more proud of a young man from where he started to where he is now,” Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said this week. “And...
Drew Timme helped Gonzaga advance to the Sweet 16 on Monday, but his real battle has just begun. Shortly after putting up 30 points, 13 rebounds and four assists in the top-seeded Bulldogs’ 87-71 win over 8-seed Oklahoma, Timme found out that his mom wants him to shave his glorious Fu Manchu. CBS reporter Lauren Shehadi broke the unfortunate news to Timme in a postgame interview: MORE MARCH MADNESS: Live scores | Updated bracket | TV schedule Hopefully mom will understand that you don’t just change up your look when you’re in the middle of what could be a historic NCAA Tournament run. Besides, Timme’s mustache is right up there with Luka Garza’s eyebrows in terms of iconic March Madness looks. Timme’s mustache was apparently notable enough to warrant a post from the Zags’ Twitter team: Besides, how could he get rid of something that is so universally loved on Twitter? Best to keep it until the Bulldogs’ NCAA Tournament run is over, one way or another. Just want to prepare you all for the Drew Timme-Cameron...
Why does Fortnite have a narrative? It’s a game where 100 players drop onto a cartoonish island, dress up as bananas or Star Wars heroes, gather up guns and other gear, and attempt to eliminate each other until only one remains. When that’s done, you queue up and try again. But within this multiplayer shooter framework, Fortnite has steadily turned into one of the biggest and boldest storytelling experiments in history. From live events experienced by millions to cinematics created with the help of Hollywood directors, the team at Epic has continuously tested new ideas, injecting narrative elements in a way that feels natural and meaningful. Fortnite is among the biggest games in the world and arguably the most culturally impactful. And for Donald Mustard, chief creative officer at Epic Games, it was a chance he couldn’t ignore. “For me, it was an opportunity to almost create a new medium,” Mustard tells The News Brig. That focus on storytelling is particularly obvious now, after the launch of the game’s most recent season. For the first time, players were able to...

Sony Playstation 5 : The next April 30th we can enjoy Returnal in Spain, the new creation of Housemarque exclusively for Playstation 5, an ambitious project with which the company is preparing to leave its comfort zone to dare with some things that are new to the study, such as the creation of an elaborate narrative or the roguelite structure that the work will have. There is a time for everything. Also to take a break. Leave the hustle and bustle and go to the country. In the midst of nature, I have found a haven of peace and comforting work in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. I tell you how my days have been harvesting, socializing and caring for animals on my Nintendo Switch. I had never dared with a video game from the Story of Seasons saga (Harvest Moon for friends). Therefore, I cannot hide my surprise. Without being a big fan of these experiences, my first few hours have been quite satisfying. I have cut a lot of bushes, cut down a few trees, set up a farm with my first hen and I have even built a very comfortable little house with its relaxing shower. Without realizing it, several days have passed and I have seen how my life as a farmer it wasn’t as messy as i expected. So positive first impressions. Although it does not surprise me. Taking a little look at the past, I see that...
