MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Vikings fans got their first look at the architects of the revamped team Thursday. Coordinators Ed Donatell (defense), Wes Phillips (offense) and Matt Daniels (special teams) offered up their visions of their units at a press conference. Donatell said Danielle Hunter, the Vikings’ oft-injured but otherworldly talented defensive end, will play both his natural position and outside linebacker in the new scheme. As for his philosophy of the defense as a whole, Donatell said setting edges, tackling...

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings remain a perplexing team to evaluate, now 14 games into this variety-pack season of late collapses, steely finishes and everything in between. They’ve managed to both dominate and self-destruct in every facet of offense and defense over the course of the year, depending on the month or the week or even the quarter of a game. READ MORE: 'I Need To Be Able To Test Negative': Minnesotans Line Up To Get COVID-19 Results Before ChristmasHard to figure out, but also hard to get rid of. Despite an overall performance at Chicago on Monday night more befitting of a team bound for a high draft pick than a deep playoff run, the Vikings (7-7) pulled out a 17-9 victory to take at least temporary control of the final wild-card spot in the NFC. They’ll wear that win over the rival Bears like an ugly Christmas sweater for now, before trying to find better outfits for their last three games. “Nobody is standing out as the No. 1 team. Everybody is losing games that nobody expected...
EMPLOYEES have been coming out lately with plenty of dirt about the places they used to work at. That's why a gamer, who goes by the name of Chazzcu, but whose real name is Chazz Christian, revealed his worst experience as a former Game Stop employee. 3A former Game Stop employee revealed the worst customer he's dealt withCredit: TikTok/Chazzcu 3She had screamed and made a sceneCredit: TikTok/Chazzcu He began his video: "During the holiday season, we had a huge line of people – and there was this one lady, who cut in front of everybody. We had a line of like 25 or 30 people." He explained that this was around the time when a new video game console had just come out and she demanded to buy two. "First of all, it's one per person and I told her. And second, I told her that she could get one when she got to the back of the line," he continued. "She had a little temper tantrum, goes to the back of the line, and finally comes up...
(CNN)It was an unhappy birthday for Russell Wilson on Monday Night Football as the quarterback saw his potential game-tying pass intercepted to seal a 17-15 loss for the Seattle Seahawks (3-8) against the Washington Football Team (5-6), scuppering a dramatic comeback.Playing on his 33rd birthday, Wilson threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Freddie Swain with just 15 seconds to play to put the Seahawks within two points of tying the game, but his subsequent two-point conversion pass was intercepted by Kendall Fuller to snatch the win for Washington. Having trailed 17-9 until the closing seconds, a thrilling comeback could have served as a much-needed spark for a downtrodden Wilson and the Seahawks. Since the eight-time Pro Bowl star returned from finger surgery -- the team has scored just 28 total points en route to three straight defeats that have left their playoff hopes in tatters. Fuller's interception denied the Seahawks a shot at a dramatic comeback. It is a damning indictment of Wilson's current struggles that the Seahawks scored more points in the last game before his reinstatement -- Geno Smith...
Getty Marcus Smart in his shooting motion as the Boston Celtics play the Oklahoma City Thunder. On the second night of a back-to-back, against a resilient Oklahoma City Thunder squad, the Boston Celtics almost lost in the final minutes. Despite dominating for long stretches of the contest, the Celtics once again found themselves clinging onto a flimsy lead down the stretch. Unlike some of their collapses from earlier in the season, such as their implosion against the Chicago Bulls in early November, the Celtics stood firm, squeaking out a victory against a team who have already registered big comeback wins this year. Led by a 33 point, 8 rebounds, 5 assist night from Jayson Tatum, the Celtics managed to put the final nails in the Thunder’s coffin with less than a minute remaining, after Udoka had emptied his bench and almost instantly came to regret it. We indeed witnessed a game of two halves, with the Celtics showing signs of tiredness following their high-intensity victory against the Los Angeles Lakers just 24 hours prior. “Lakers was a big...

Buffalo has a pair of shutout victories and is still the league’s top defense and ranks second in points scored. But even as the Bills have scored at least 31 points in each of their last five games, head coach Sean McDermott feels like the team could be better. Buffalo is currently 26th in red-zone offense, scoring touchdowns on just 55 percent of possessions inside the 20. The Bills were 2-of-5 in the category on Monday night, including Josh Allen’s ill-fated QB sneak on fourth down with 22 seconds left in the game. But back in the first half, the team settled for 24-...
Getty Lakers star Anthony Davis. It took just one practice for Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis to realize that practices are going to be a little different this season. Davis and his new point guard Russell Westbrook were all smiles in their post-practice press conference on Wednesday after what sounded like a firey session. “That’s how we get better. We compete against each other. Talking s**t and all that,” Davis said. “That’s who we are. We have a lot of s**t talkers. It’s going to be a great year.” Westbrook is likely a big factor in ramping up the practice intensity — and trash talk. The former MVP only has one gear and isn’t scared to share his opinion. “It’s noticeable how different the speed looks, A, in front of you in practice, and B, on your side,” Lakers skipper Frank Vogel told Mike Trudell on Wednesday. “It’s really exciting. I’m going to be honest … he’s just a blur out there with his open court speed, and even half court downhill speed. “His first practice, he...

Yankees’ Aaron Boone regrets low offensive output against O’s: ‘We’ve got to find ways to add on’ Andres Chavez September 17, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Yankees took the fiield on Thursday tied with the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays for the American League Wild Card. By losing a game that seemed on the pocket (they held a 2-0 advantage and ended up dropping it 3-2) against the lowly Baltimore Orioles, they now find themselves half a game behind their rivals. The 82-65 Yankees will play the Cleveland Indians this weekend, and need to win consistently and relentlessly if they want to make it into October. It’s baffling that a team like the Yankees couldn’t score more than two runs against the worst team in the league. “We just weren’t able to add on today,” Boone said to MLB.com. “I thought we actually swung the bats well the first half of the game and didn’t have a...

Roethlisberger got those snaps against the Lions on Saturday and there was plenty to like about what he did with them. Roethlisberger was 8-of-10 for 137 yards and two touchdown passes to rookie tight end Pat Friermuth before heading to the bench after 16 offensive plays. Roethlisberger said it felt good to take a hit while delivering one pass and head coach Mike Tomlin said he was pleased with the performance when he spoke to reporters after the game. “I thought he did a nice job,” Tomlin said,...
By Michael Hurley, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — That was ugly. And painful. And damaging. (And more than a little embarrassing.) READ MORE: What To Watch For When Patriots Face Eagles In Preseason Game Thursday Night Entering this week’s three-games-in-two-days series in the Bronx, the Red Sox sat in the top wild card spot in the AL. They’re now outside of the playoff picture, with the Yankees having taken their spot. Any way you look at the three straight losses in New York, it’s not pretty. “We got beat. We got beat in every aspect of the game,” manager Alex Cora said. “I mean, they pitched better than us, they hit better than us, they played better defense than us. It’s that simple.” Cora’s not kidding. The starting pitching trio of Nick Pivetta, Nathan Eovaldi, and Tanner Houck combined to pitch 10.2 innings, allowing eight earned runs. On the other side, the trio of Jordan Montgomery, Luis Gil, and Andrew Heaney allowed four earned runs over 16.1 innings. That included a dominant performance from Heaney on Wednesday night. The left-hander had...
HUMBOLDT PARK — The Park District’s 16-inch softball championship officially returned Saturday after a decade away with a screaming line drive that nearly knocked food out of the hand of Luis Salgado, who was waiting to bat. The foul ball, crushed on the first pitch of the championship, banged off Salgado’s shoulder. But he didn’t miss a beat, taking another bite out of his alcapurria as the teams and the crowd watching at Humboldt Park let out a laugh. One of Chicago’s most beloved traditions was back after all — with its food, drinks, bruises, laughs and one very large softball that confuses people outside the Midwest. After 10 years away, the Park District revived its citywide tournament this year. It’s part of an effort to reinvigorate one of Chicago’s most traditional games. Interest in 16-inch softball — once a mainstay of local parks — waned in recent years, leading to the city shutting down the co-ed league. District officials brought it back in June for a double-elimination bracket this month. Tournaments once drew more than 30 teams to Grant...
American Idol recap: Partner up for the duets challenge Countertrend Rally: Cramers Mad Money Recap (Monday 3/22/21) Nearly an hour before the University of Colorado left its Indianapolis hotel to play an NCAA tournament game against Florida State on Monday night, the team got an alert on their phones. It told them about the shooting in a grocery store back in Boulder, Colorado, where the school is located. As of Monday night, the Associated Press was reporting that 10 people were killed. After No. 5 Colorado lost to No. 4 Florida State, 71-53, coach Tad Boyle addressed the tragedy back in Boulder. “Win or lose tonight, I just felt an emptiness in my stomach,” he said. “Another senseless act of violence that we've experienced as a country, many, many times. And so it puts this game in perspective. It certainly puts losing in perspective.” The shooting took place at King Soopers, a grocery store that’s 1.4 miles from the arena where the Buffaloes play their home game. Colorado point guard McKinley Wright IV said that the store is less...

The Buffalo Bills are one win away from making it back to the grandest stage of them all in the NFL. With the Super Bowl in sight, the high-flying Bills still have a tough challenge lined up ahead of them. That being the Kansas City Chiefs.  With the winner being crowned the AFC champion and handed a ticket to the Super Bowl, the Bills know that they’ll have to bring their A-game if they are to beat the reigning champions. But there is one uncertainty that lingers over this matchup. And that is the availability of Chiefs’ star QB Patrick Mahomes.  Mahomes suffered a concussion in his side’s last game against the Cleveland Browns. The QB was unable to take to the field after taking a hit, and his availability for the AFC title game remains questionable.  Buffalo Bills ready to step up to the plate Buffalo Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott said that his side will have their work cut out for them this week, given the challenge of preparing for 2 different quarterbacks in Mahomes and back up...
NBA : Her Eurohoops team/ [email protected] Olympiakos lost to SEF from Villeurbanne 63-69 for the 20th game, in a defeat that “hurts” them in terms of points. Giorgos Bartzokas, who even offered a terrible moment during the match with a. Bottle, talked about this result and it seemed that he was not at all happy with the image and the lack of mood of his players. Details of what the coach of Olympiacos said: “Congratulations to Villeurbanne he played very well as a team. For us after three wins in a row, we had a difficult home game and to have a fighting spirit, not to be selfish, recognizing the importance of the match. Especially when we have outside players like Papanikolaou, Martin and Larentzakis. We should have been at least fighters. The percentage in the shot was not good and instead we lost all the 50-50 balls that are very important. This shows something. It shows that the mood and motivation were questionable. It was an arrogant approach to the game. We got...
(CBS) – It was supposed to be business as usual for Head Coach Matt McCall and the UMass men’s basketball team, who arrived at their hotel in Washington, D.C. around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday. They had a game scheduled against George Washington the next night at 6 p.m. However, right away, this trip was different. “I don’t think anyone expected what was going to transpire. It felt like it was safe to go and play the game,” McCall said. “Upon arriving at the hotel, right then and there, you knew that this just didn’t feel right.” McCall says they were met by a rowdy crowd outside of their hotel, located about two miles from the Capitol building. “Our bus pulls up and we get off the bus and they are starting to chant and yell and scream. So then as a coach, you just click into safety mode for our players. Wanted them to just grab their stuff and get in the hotel as fast as they could,” said McCall. It would be the start of a whirlwind 24 hours....
