THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) — The southbound lanes of Interstate 25 were closed at about 9:15 a.m. Sunday for a rollover crash near the Thornton Parkway exit.

A social media message from the Thornton Police Department stated there were only minor injuries to the occupants of the vehicle or vehicles involved.

However, the accident has created quite a mess. The highway closure was expected to be of lengthy duration, per Thornton PD.

S/B I-25 is closed at Thornton Pkwy for an extended period of time while Thornton PD investigates a minor injury rollover crash in the 9100 blk. S/B traffic is being routed onto Thornton Pkwy. Use alternative routes while crews work to clear the highway. Updates here… pic.twitter.com/jq1qMOd0Sr

In the face of rising COVID rates, Adams, city agencies ramp up preparedness measures

In the face of rising COVID-19 rates, Mayor Eric Adams on Monday, along with the NYC Test & Trace Corps, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services, announced the distribution of an additional 16.5 million at-home COVID-19 tests and 1 million high-quality masks to public schools, community organizations, libraries, cultural institutions, houses of worship and more.

New York City is preparing to potentially enter a high COVID-19 alert level in the coming days and strongly recommends that all New Yorkers mask up in public indoor settings to protect themselves and others. On May 11, for example, there were 3,074 COVID cases in the city. By contrast, on May 10, 2021, there were only 749.

The distribution effort joins other measures to blunt the worst impacts of the current wave. The distribution of 35,000 COVID-19 courses of treatment to date has prevented nearly 2,000 hospitalizations in the city so far.
